This version of Construction Simulator is the best I've played so far. There is a ton of stuff to enjoy in this new world with a real varied mixture of missions and items to collect. The German setting is a positive step forward from the last hellish world too, and Construction Simulator 3 - Console Edition on Xbox One is a fairly pleasant place to work in, and drive around.

Sim fans are surely the ones that will get the most out of Construction Simulator 3: Console Edition, especially those that know the industry, and even though it’s very rough around the edges and visually dated, I still enjoyed my time with it for the most part, aside from the constant battle with the camera and controls.

You are tasked with completing jobs in various vehicles from forklifts to dozers and compactors and more. The game provides a very in-depth tutorial on the usage of each machine you will encounter and this is executed very well during gameplay meshing well with the background of your character. Offering different industry locations that each have their own perticular use from the gravel pit to dump stuff and collect stuff (like soil and gravel) or Builders Merchants to buy stuff like your timber that you will need. Traveling around is done in the machine you was last in, however a optional jump to is provided, given sometimes getting from A to B felt a bit tedious this did get a decent amount of use from myself. Visually the game offers up pleasing enough graphics, this is good given the amount of traveling around the town (map) you will do it is nice to have a good level of detail and design, as you can imagine the greatest level of detail has gone into the equipment you use, as such even the basic equipment looks like it does in the real world. However not being an expect driver, accidents happen, I did on occasion (putting it lightly) knock things over, to me personally it felt like objects falling (like rails etc.) just seemed like one motion and not fluid, minor detail and doesn't pull from the game itself at all. The controls come in varying degrees, for the sake of the review I will use Arcade as the example. The control system can feel overwhelming given the amount of machine you are tasked taking charge of, with various functions needing both sticks to move in different directions and to prep the machine long button presses are required. As such this is not for the faint of heart or those looking for a game to get used to the controls of a console, that being said, those familiar with Simuation games will be familiar with complex requirements on controls, these work quite well and after a little getting used to the controls you start to chug along like a labourer after 2 weeks on site, given enough time you'll be grafting like the sites 53 year old who shouldn't be physically possible to get things done so fast. My only gripe really here was the camera, having to change camera angles so often and the free camera just seemed to get in the way when moving equipment around the site. Overall: A solid sim game and hours worth of sim entertainment. Recommend this to sim enthusiasts and those with a keen interest in the industry. Could be a good entry point sim game to those looking to experience some sim action. While traveling can be a touch tedious the quick travel will help with this if you don't mind taking a slight hit or switching camera mode, personally I really enjoy the driver view. Expand
