Feb 7, 2016Cobalt is a great adventure that successfully mixes many different gameplay elements to deliver something quite unique, adding its own ideas to the 2D experience.
-
Feb 5, 2016A boldly inventive 2D shooter that asks a lot of its players but rewards them with one of the most versatile action games of recent months.
-
Feb 2, 2016Cobalt is a resourceful game stained only by a controversial artistic direction. An indie gem that, between single-player and multiplayer, gives everything and does it well.
-
Feb 14, 2016Cobalt provides a decent and original single player metroidvania experience, plus a frenzied and content-rich multiplayer. It lacks the spark to make it really memorable mainly due to its too generic design and the price feels a bit too high, but especially if you've got friends to play it with, you won't be disappointed.

Feb 15, 2016If I have to summarize Cobalt in only one word, it has to be “strange”. It takes a while to get used to all the elements and control features that Oxeye mixed into this. But once you get the hang of it, you’ll find more fun than in the common 2D-action.

Feb 15, 2016Cobalt is a good adventure action game with a clever mix of genres.

Feb 15, 2016It felt like playing through an old favorite and realizing it wasn't quite what you remembered - but kind of liking it anyway.
-
Feb 21, 2016Cobalt is an entertaining platform game with excellent controls and an awesome combat system. But it also involves a lot of obstacles that should not be in there, which keeps it from being really good.

May 25, 2016Those who welcome demanding, reactive and deep gameplay will find a lot to love about the Cobalt. It harshly punishes the impatient, but it'll reward those who take the time to master it.

Official Xbox Magazine UKMar 27, 2016An energetic, skillful action-platformer that rewards experimentation and practice...but frustrating scenarios encourage neither. The core of a great game is here, but hidden. [Apr 2016, p.83]

COGconnectedFeb 25, 2016Lots of work, time, and love was put into Cobalt, but ultimately, it’s a product that makes me hope that the future will improve, because what is currently available, just isn’t that enticing.
-
Feb 8, 2016There’s a pretty good game buried somewhere inside Cobalt, obscured by layers of poor balancing and technical glitches. The energetic combat and fun weapons make multiplayer a neat pick-up-and-play experience, but the bungled and buggy story mode just doesn’t cut it. Cobalt left me feeling blue.
-
Feb 24, 2016Overall, Cobalt is a side-scrolling adventure that features devastatingly horrible level design, useless deaths and an overly frustrating time constraint system that handcuffs you to a paddle-less boat while it takes the death plunge over the falls.
