    Citizens of Space is a solid follow-up to a truly unique RPG experience. There is little else like it, especially on Xbox One. It is a game that can be played without having to worry about the first title and it is definitely worth the time. I just wish it took a little less of it. It feels padded in the places that make it drag on occasion, however the writing and performances pick up the slack, making this one diamond in the rough that should not be missed.

    It’s easy to see what Citizens of Space on Xbox One is going for: a playable Saturday morning cartoon for children. But many of the decisions made to achieve this – such as simplistic combat and a dumbed down story – make it hard to recommend. At best, Citizens of Space can be regarded as a fine JRPG to get your children started.

    Citizens Of Space’s endless well of enthusiasm makes pointing out these flaws feel like kicking a puppy, but they’re impossible to ignore. It’s not a massive game, but it’s still overly ambitious – the weight of its duff ideas threatens to drown its respectable share of great ones. A leaner, tighter, quieter experience would be easier to love. [Issue#181, p.91]

    Citizens Of Space is a well-crafted follow-up to the original that manages to keep its sense of humor intact. The visual and audioCitizens Of Space is a well-crafted follow-up to the original that manages to keep its sense of humor intact. The visual and audio presentation are bright sharp and crisp and very easy on the eyes. Meanwhile the gameplay has been revamped in Citizens Of Space. The retro style Earthbound system has been swapped out for a more Paper Mario esque combat timing strategy system which is either a positive or a negative, depending on whether your preferred the old battle system or the new battle system they have implemented this time around. If you enjoy a game with a more active time/strategy based game, you will love what Citizens Of Space has to offer. If you like being able to automate combat more with this being more of the norm in the gaming world these days, then you may not enjoy the battle system as much as the previous one. Either way, the core game is a lot of fun even with a few rough edges and I am happy Sega brought us Citizens Of Space. While it’s not ultimately the perfect experience with either combat system they would have chosen, it still manages to get most things right. At the end of the day Citizens Of Space provides a fun and entertaining experience for Xbox One fans to enjoy. The price of admission is also fair and you get a good value for the fun that awaits.… Expand
