The opening stages have that gleeful abandon that a lot of mining games have, as our pockets filled with gold and unlocks made us into mining deities. The game kept widening out to add more and more things to do and we were smitten with how generous it was. That generosity had to come to an end, though: as Cave Digger ran out of surprises, the feelings of grinding started to take hold. Treat these feelings as a canary and get out before they choke out the enjoyment, and Cave Digger becomes a glittering recommendation.

Originally released for VR gaming systems; now you can play Cave Digger on your Xbox One console. Gameplay in Cave Digger is simple at the beginning you have just a pickaxe and an elevator to go down and mine. These mines are too small, you mine as much as you can. You earn money by mining and so you can purchase new tools or upgrade the existing ones. With its different items mining in Cave Digger might be different in some points, there is nuclear bombs and an infinity gauntlet in the game you can use it if you can find the stones for it. You can also use dynamite to demolish walls and saws to excavate artifacts. At the beginning Cave Digger feels somewhat lackluster, you just mine and go purchase upgrades. After a while you begin to realize that game can offer much more than that. The more you use the tools like dynamite the better the game will be. You find keys for vaults, when you eat mushroom it gives you hallucinogenic trips, and surprising mechanics similar to challenge you in different ways. As you uncover the secrets of the game you acquire the endings in the game. Eventually you gain access to a train and explore new mining locations. Exploring the mines upgrading, buying and using tools, and revealing secrets is much fun in this game but after some point grinding money it can become somewhat repetitive and slow the pace again. Overall Cave Digger is an interesting game, you can still enjoy on your Xbox One especially considering the games low price of admission it's worth a download for sure. Expand
