Cat Quest II took what made the original special and amplified the fun with co-op multiplayer and a variety of enjoyable quests.

Whether you’re a fan of the original or want to experience this franchise for the first time, Cat Quest II is the superior game of the two and builds upon the original in all departments.

Cat Quest II is a simple and fun RPG which I found quite enjoyable to play and it seems like it has plenty of content to get your claws into. The story line is not deep, but it doesn’t need to be when its about a cat and dog, and they fill it with cat puns to try and keep things interesting. But the combat in this game can come across as repetitive and having to read the same pun-filled dialogue every time you fail a dungeon is far from purrfect.

You control a Cat and a Dog while you try to bring peace between the cats of Felingard and the dogs of the Lupus Empire. There is so much fun to be had on this 12 to 15 hour adventure. I really recommend this game if your looking to play something with a friend, wife, girlfriend, son, or daughter. I haven't had this much fun with a Coop game since probably Castle Crashers. I really hold Cat Quest 2 that type of quality. Even if you don't have any of those things, and your a loner like myself don't worry the whole game can be played solo as well. You can control both animals and it isn't any less fun or adventurous alone. My first play through was done completely alone. It took me around 15 hours to 100% it, and it never once felt repetitive like these games some times do. The side quests are actually fun and so is trying to complete all the dungeons. The money you earn, XP, and loot makes it all worthwhile. I really had fun from start to finish.

I love the choice between melee and magic attacks. I chose to give my cat magic and my dog melee. You can do it how ever you want though. You can choose rather they use a wand for magic that will cast lightning, fire, ice, etc and then you can match up your armor with this class. The armor will increase the elemental damage, the armor, the health, the magic, or the physical attack. The choice is all yours,.With my cat I went full magic boost and attacked from a distance, boosted partners attack, and healed. While the Dog attacked with really heavy armor protection. This was my plan, but the fun is you can do it how ever you want. In Coop you can both choose what ever you want as well. You can level up your magic, armor, and weapons pretty easy by visiting blacksmiths. Money is pretty easy to come by so you will have no problem making your favorite weapon over powered if you choose to. You will find more weapons and armor as you go though that might make you think of trying something new as well. The Loot is a plenty in Cat Quest 2.

You will find all this loot in dungeons which you must clear out. To 100% them you must defeat every enemy and find every chest. This is hard sometimes cause they hide them well or the dungeons get huge and are loaded with traps. Spikes and projectiles firing at you can make it hard to defeat the enemies that surround you. There are a ton of these dungeons as well. So it's going to keep you busy for some time. The side quests and dungeons really add a lot of extra game play to Cat Quest 2. Also trying to find them all, and the different magics. Some are pretty well hidden, but once you unlock all the warp zones and ability to walk on water everything becomes much easier to find.

I love the look and sound of Cat Quest 2. It feels really retro like this would have been a instant classic on the SNES or Genesis. The art style , adorable characters, beautiful music, and really amazing writing certainly would have had this on a lot of people's lists for favorite retro games. I hope it is loved just as well today though. It deserves a lot of praise and to be noticed. I think they probably will though I've seen ads for it about every where I've gone online today.I think it is the best RPG this year easy. I think it might be the best coop game this Gen as well. I think it will appeal to all ages and player types. The fast paced action, quality development, and hysterical cat puns really make this a game that could receive some Game of the Year nods. They do deserve those no doubt. I'm already ready for Cat Quest 3. I hope a lot of you feel the same. Let us know in the comments. Love to hear other opinions on it.

    Pros: Cats

    Cat Puns

    Beautiful level design and music

    Cats

    Cool characters

    Tons of Replay Value

    Some the best Coop around

    Did I mention Cats?

    Cons: None Fur Real :)

Overall: 9.5 Cat Quest 2 is a can't miss open world RPG that is just as fun alone as it is playing with someone else. Cat Quest 2 really comes into October with a bang throwing it's name into the hat for GOTY with a lot of huge AAA games. Don't miss out on this one it's nearly Purr-fect

Cat Quest II is a sequel in the most direct of fashions. The entire game is simply a continuation of the first game, with the same aesthetic, map, music and quest styles. You play as the Kings of the Dog and Cat Kingdom, working together for the greater good of the two warring kingdoms. Just like any good RPG, you will take on quests, and side missions to level up and find better equipment. You will spend the entire game with two party members and can opt into either a Melee or Magic build for either. It's best you have one of each, as some enemies are weaker against one type or the other. The game is simple in design and control, but that doesn't take away from the fun. In fact, I didn't expect Cat Quest to be as fun as it was to play! Simple enough for younger players, the gameplay is mostly dodging enemy attacks and taking open opportunities to strike them down. Quests are fairly straight forward and provide decent loot to progress your character. The overall story is simple and cute and loaded with Cat puns. The leveling system caps out at 99, but the challenge remains even at the higher levels. Cat Quest is a fun and cute RPG that I would recomend to RPG players of most ages. Expand
