People who give it less than a 5 HAVE NO IDEA, do it for two reasons, one; you don't know about Call of Duty or two; that you do it to take away the note. At first it was a game without content but today it has twice as much content as many more famous games, it is quite fun although it is a little behind for the current era.

"Call of Duty: WW II" is a solid, but not superb shooter. After the release of "Battlefield 1", it feels like a slight let down due to its reliance on well-worn FPS tropes. While I appreciate the return to the series' roots, the WW II setting has been a bit played out. Developer Sledgehammer Games has done an admirable job with the campaign and multiplayer, but none of it stands out from what's been done before. The same goes for the new Zombies mode; it's enjoyable, but too similar to past versions.

Ultimately, a lack of innovation is the reason "Call of Duty: WW II" doesn't rank up with the best COD titles. Yes, there are now soldier classes in multiplayer, but aside from "War", there are no new competitive modes to speak of. The maps are also a bit lacking in creative design. Regardless, fans of "World at War" and "Call of Duty 2" should enjoy the game despite its inferiority. I personally think it's a big step up from "Infinite Warfare". It's fast, fluid and enjoyable, although it's not the best. I'd give it an 8 out of 10

I can't comment on the multiplayer, but the single-player campaign is among the most generic paint-by-numbers FPS gameplay I've ever encountered. Cinematic, and graphically pleasing? Yes, and also completely soul-less and devoid of any real emotion, as if it was created by Hollywood committee.

The game does an admirable job of making you feel like you're a part of a war with many combatants on screen, but it is undermined by the sloppy frustrating combat. You don't know who is firing at you half the time. The last mission is one of the most terribly designed levels I've ever encountered, with rockets fired at you that you can't dodge, and so much smoke everywhere that you can't see the enemy. They've also brought back the egregious use of quick-time events, and added what are essentially terrible escort missions in the way of dragging wounded soldiers to safety. This is not what the genre was missing, and feels like a step backwards.

The gunplay was solid like most cod games. The loot boxes were a terrible idea as all the loot boxes items looked the same. Single player is also a mixed bag. It's a basic story about Americans fighting Nazis, which has been done a million times. The characters for the most part are quite good, and the last 2 or so missions really nail the emotion in the story. Unfortunately, the campaign's message is that it is okay to disobey your orders when you have to save a life. Personally I do not agree with this, as in my experience, putting yourself in danger to try and help someone is generally a bad idea, especially when it's against an order. Regardless, this game is alright for the most part. Expand

This game was mostly a disappointment. I honer attempting to bring back the WWII theme, but I think this was a major step down compared to the original ones (COD 1-3 and World at War.) The campaign felt empty since there was no Soviet side to really close the book when it comes to the war. Think the previous titles (especially World at War) did a far better job at doing this.

The multiplayer was alright with the best thing being the "War" mode. Found it really cool and interesting and wish they did more with the idea (more maps.) Overall, this game was not that impressive.

This game is probably the worst Call of Duty that I've played in every sense of the word. It was a shame I got suckered into this for $120 as a pre-release, thinking it might have some redeemable quality, but compared to most other Call of Duties, it does not. I'll be going into the 3 main components of the game, and I've played this for 130 hours to 100% the game.

It was a shame I got suckered into this for $120 as a pre-release, thinking it might have some redeemable quality, but compared to most other Call of Duties, it does not. I'll be going into the 3 main components of the game, and I've played this for 130 hours to 100% the game.

Campaign: Now there are some good things here. The cutscenes are fantastic, the health packs are a nice way to change up the COD formula, and it has some touching moments. However, that doesn't even come close to making it worth to play. Veteran is a challenge because of the context, and it isn't unfair in most areas. However it feels exactly like Halo, where you're a one man army mowing down enemies, while your crew doesn't do much unless you tell them to push or give you an item. The collectibles are laughable, the characters don't really feel like much and give little to no motivation for us to move on. The conflict is USA vs Germany. No other countries, when the game is based on the LARGEST WAR THE WORLD HAS SEEN with THE MOST COUNTRIES. The game also doesn't have the ability to use certain elements that were in WW2. But besides the point, the campaign is on of the reasons I played Call of Duty, and this one is very underwhelming to say the least.

Multiplayer: It's one of the most boring multiplayer experiences in COD history. Barely any guns on launch, can't get more without coughing up money it seems, and the lootboxes make the game even worse. The social space has no reason to exist, though I do like some of the things it did, like testing out killstreaks, guns, and 1v1'ing friends. Other than that, any other COD will give you a better experience and more worth for your money.

Zombies: I enjoyed every other game's zombies to some degree (excluding Advanced Warfare), but this one is the worst of all of them so far. The maps are so dark for no apparent reason in the beginning, the boss zombies are just the worst in the franchise's history, and the Easter Eggs are grindy and non-sensical for the most part. The gun play is garbage and every weapon feels terrible. It's boring, not fun, uninspired, not worth it for any zombies player.

In conclusion: This game is worth $5-$10 at most. The amount of effort that went into this game is appalling, and the priorities of the development team are clearly towards money rather than a good game. A disappointment for everyone who played or bought the game.

I barely touched WW2 because it was so bad. It's easily my most hated CoD of all time and I genuinely have a hard time thinking of anything positive to say about it. Bad maps, bad gameplay, bad almost everything. I am aware it received a lot of improvements after I quit though so it may be worth trying now.

This is honestly one of my favorite CoD games, right up there with MW2. Is it perfect? No, but I really think it's a lot better than most CoD games from the past 5 - 6 years. Why? Cause it is legit just fun to play. A nice balance between being competitive and bring casual. It doesn't take itself too seriously, which I think is great.

It's... bad. There's no other way around it. This game is bad. The lootboxes, poor customization, weak singleplayer story, horrid multiplayer maps, and a bare bones zombie mode make this possibly the worst Call of Duty so far (although I still haven't played BO4). This is the game that made me swear an oath to never pre-order a game.

The tank section has you take so many hits from shells that should go right through your tank its not even funny. The plane section is just boring. The campaign also only follows ONE PERSON. On ONE SIDE, fighting ONE ENEMY. This is World War II. A war that took place on all fronts of the globe. So why only have us play the Americans vs German side. There is also no variety (you just shoot Germans). The "stealth" sections are small and barely cut into the game play. The campaign is also very generic (American kid goes to war, makes buddies, makes enemies with A-hole sergeant, and learns his wife is pregnant). Like seriously, how generic can you get. Now let me talk MP. Match making is as slow as the US communications during the actual war. the guns sound like they were all made in a knockoff warehouse rather than a German or american factory. They sound so bad that it doesn't even sound like warfare, more like an Airsoft fight. The multiplayer just has you run around 3 lane maps with no cover or any style (honestly all the maps feel the same). And yes, I like Gustav cannon as it is a WWII map that makes sense. Battles weren't fought in 3 lane areas, it was fought over massive plots of land or large strategic points. I'm not even going to touch loot boxes but they're there, as well as Zombies, as I don't ply too much of it. Bottom line is that if you want a good WWII game, don't buy this garbage. Campaign wise, World at War or even COD 2 is far superior. This was $60 down the drain. Expand

After playing multiplayer games and spending hours upon hours on them every day I've come to a realization as I've gotten older and more mature as a gamer that playing multiplayer, although fun, doesn't have a sense of accomplishment and really won't get you anywhere. Multiplayer is a never ending cycle of match after match of killing and dying. Don't get me wrong, I still like multiplayer and even play them from time to time. But as I've gotten older and work and other responsibilities have entered my life I can no longer spend hours on hours on a game that doesn't give me anything back besides a kill death ratio or games won and lost or any other myriad of other things on your stat screen. So now I play games for their story, their campaign. Something I can take away and remember and linger in my thoughts for months or even years. I only play Call of duty now for their campaigns. I dabble in the multiplayer from time to time but that is not what I'm reviewing since that is not what I value the most. This has got to be one of the best cod campaigns ever. The story, although could have been directed better, it's core was really well written. The story hits home for me and I appreciate stories of heroism and valor. Heroes who sacrifice themselves for the betterment of others. Graphically, this game looks great. Captures the atmosphere, the grit and grime of the violence of the most deadliest conflict in human history. The resolution could be higher and the HDR could be better but all in all it looks phenomenal. Especially considering that it runs at 60 or a very close 60 is remarkable. This is one of my favorite COD campaigns ever. One of my top 3 for sure. Expand

This is another fun, fleeting, exceptionally good-looking Call of Duty game, but its World War II theme doesn't add much besides bringing some of its mechanics back down to Earth.
