I was actually quite a fan of Infinite Warfare and I found it to be a pleasant change in the Call of Duty series, but at times I must admit that it did miss a certain something. Thankfully Call of Duty: WWII brings that certain something back to the series and I must admit that this is one of the best Call of Duty’s I’ve played in years. The boots on ground combat is back and it’s addictive as ever and the main reason for that is because it’s exciting throughout. Another reason why it’s so enjoyable is because of the improved gunplay, which I found to be more precise and responsive than it was in Infinite Warfare. Without a doubt this game is packed to the brim with content and they’ve even included some new modes, which by the way are brilliant and a great addition to the franchise. Multiplayer also has a lot of content and once again it’s addictive as ever, and the best thing is that I’ve suffered with no problems online to date. If you’re not a massive fan of multiplayer then you will be pleased to know that the game offers you a very good single player campaign. The campaign has been done really well and it really gives you an insight into some of the events that happened in WWII, I will say however that I would have liked a bit more variety when it came to the missions. The presentation side of the game is absolutely fantastic. Visually the game looks superb the whole way through and the voice actors really made the game even more of an immersive and enjoyable experience. At the end of the day fans of the Call of Duty series will be extremely pleased with the new addition to the genre, and I must applaud the amount of effort that has gone into Call of Duty: WWII. Without a doubt it’s clear that the developers/publishers have listened to fans of the series and tried to improve every key area, and the best thing is that these improvements have created one of the best Call of Duty game’s in years. Call of Duty: WWII has in my opinion made the series relevant again and I can’t recommend it enough. Expand

This is the first CoD game I've purchased in years and I'm happy with the purchase.

    Pros:

Really enjoying the WWII campaign and story. The MP is a lot of fun with a variety of modes. War mode is especially fun. The graphics, sound and feel of the game are of great quality.

    Cons:

With only 9 MP maps and 3 War mode maps it leaves a lot to be desired with map variety for a base game. Would have been better to have 14 or so maps for MP and 6 or so for War mode. Never been a huge Zombies fan of any of the CoDs so I can't comment on that since it wouldn't be specific to this game.

    Overall Impression:

Solid, super fun game. If you like boots-on-the-ground CoD then this game is a pleasant return to CoDs roots. The MP is really fun and enjoyable. Divisions is a welcome addition creating additional variety. Overall really well pleased with this imperfect game. Hopefully they continue to make QoL improvements throughout its lifespan.

Also, I think Advanced Warfare was a great game since it wasn't completely over the top with the futuristic crap and it brought fun/innovation to the COD series, hence giving Sledgehammer Games my support again. Kinda disappointed with only getting 9 multiplayer maps when older CODs would give us 14 or so at launch. Weapons are cool and sound great. The new War mode is fun and engaging; I always wondered what it would be like to be a German soldier mowing down the Americans from the machine gun bunker on the beaches of Normandy (you get to do this in one of the War mode sections). There's a new social space like Destiny's tower which allows you team up with others, tryout score streaks, do weapon paint jobs, and pick up challenges that help with level progression and allow you to acquire special weapons/gear. Lastly, it's great to have boots on the ground again!

The graphics are good for what the outdated engine will allow but the developers need to design a new COD engine if they want to keep up with Destiny and Battlefield visuals. Sledgehammer Games did a great job again and delivered a fine product. It's not perfect by no means but there's not too much to complain about. If they would've used an updated engine and delivered more maps, most of us COD fans would be more than happy. Lastly, it's great to have boots on the ground again!

It showed the war without embellishment, real, brutal war. We have forgotten what it is. We used fun to kill enemies in video games without hesitation. After CALL OF DUTY: WWII start to appreciate the peaceful times in which we live.

The story tells the usual story of a military soldier. Together with brothers in arms wades through a real hell. We've seen similar stories in games, the war has not been shown so realistically. Basically, this effect causes dismemberment. Very often we will see people without body parts, burning people and the atrocities of the Nazis.

The plot is simple, but you believe in this war, believe what is happening on the screen. All the characters have their own character, everyone has their demons. It is interesting to observe the drama of the characters.

The gameplay is now in spirit first every part OF CALL OF DUTY. Because of this the gameplay has become more boring. You sit behind cover and aims at enemies. Diversity is not. But there is one good innovation. The developers decided to implement in a single company element of teamwork. If we need supplies, first aid kit or swegene about the enemy - we are asking comrades. This is an interesting thing. and Yes, now health itself is not restored - it is necessary to look for kits. Here you don't feel like a super soldier ready to kill everyone, you could die at any moment.

Call of Duty: WWII is a game about realistic warfare. A single company is not very long, but no time to get bored. It's not the best Call of Duty, gameplay and artistic design can to lose IW, but nevertheless it was nice to return to the battlefields of WWII.

I really like the HQ section and working towards the orders objectives and redeeming collections keeps you grinding up the ranks. There's nothing in the loot crates that give's the player an advantage (at the time of this review) and I hope it stays that way. Cosmetic items are fun and I enjoy the customisation. The divisions are pretty much the same as create a class from the old games, it's just been renamed.

Overall i think it's a solid game that will have my attention into the new year. The move back to WW2 was a welcome one.

The negative reviews show that the game isn't for everyone, though. What I'm about to say will squarely mark me as the classic CoD d-bag player stereotype, but all these players' way over-the-top level of freaking out almost makes me wonder if they're just mad because they can't handle getting killed. You can't walk in and pwn people from the first moment and have success from the beginning like it's Candy Crush or something. Sheesh.

Everyone overrates themselves and their skill level with these games. Maybe you just suck. I have no other explanation for such a visceral reaction and all the 0/10 scores. It's silly. You have to be fast on the trigger to beat people, and when you're not, you get to watch kill cams all day... and then you go cry to the internet that the game is broken. It's not broken, and I'm looking forward to shooting you up till you call me a "hacker" and rage quit. REEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

While I appreciate the return to the series' roots, the WW II setting has been a bit played out. Developer Sledgehammer Games has done an admirable job with the campaign and multiplayer, but none of it stands out from what's been done before. The same goes for the new Zombies mode; it's enjoyable, but too similar to past versions.

Ultimately, a lack of innovation is the reason "Call of Duty: WW II" doesn't rank up with the best COD titles. Yes, there are now soldier classes in multiplayer, but aside from "War", there are no new competitive modes to speak of. The maps are also a bit lacking in creative design. Regardless, fans of "World at War" and "Call of Duty 2" should enjoy the game despite its inferiority. I personally think it's a big step up from "Infinite Warfare". It's fast, fluid and enjoyable, although it's not the best. I'd give it an 8 out of 10

Multiplayer is a never ending cycle of match after match of killing and dying. Don't get me wrong, I still like multiplayer and even play them from time to time. But as I've gotten older and work and other responsibilities have entered my life I can no longer spend hours on hours on a game that doesn't give me anything back besides a kill death ratio or games won and lost or any other myriad of other things on your stat screen. So now I play games for their story, their campaign. Something I can take away and remember and linger in my thoughts for months or even years. I only play Call of duty now for their campaigns. I dabble in the multiplayer from time to time but that is not what I'm reviewing since that is not what I value the most. This has got to be one of the best cod campaigns ever. The story, although could have been directed better, it's core was really well written. The story hits home for me and I appreciate stories of heroism and valor. Heroes who sacrifice themselves for the betterment of others. Graphically, this game looks great. Captures the atmosphere, the grit and grime of the violence of the most deadliest conflict in human history. The resolution could be higher and the HDR could be better but all in all it looks phenomenal. Especially considering that it runs at 60 or a very close 60 is remarkable. This is honestly one of my favorite CoD games, right up there with MW2. Is it perfect? No, but I really think it's a lot better than most CoD games from the past 5 - 6 years. Why? Cause it is legit just fun to play. A nice balance between being competitive and bring casual. It doesn't take itself too seriously, which I think is great.

Same with zombies the maps look so real and such detail in them and how it just plays out is amazing. If I were to ask for ww3 to happen I hope it gets made into a game so it could be just as good as this. Expand

People who give it less than a 5 HAVE NO IDEA, do it for two reasons, one; you don't know about Call of Duty or two; that you do it to take away the note. At first it was a game without content but today it has twice as much content as many more famous games, it is quite fun although it is a little behind for the current era.

A streamlined multiplayer and less gimmicky single-player gives CoD a nice refresh.

At its best it's a game of tactics for even the most casual player. [Issue#314, p.112]

This is another fun, fleeting, exceptionally good-looking Call of Duty game, but its World War II theme doesn't add much besides bringing some of its mechanics back down to Earth.
