I was actually quite a fan of Infinite Warfare and I found it to be a pleasant change in the Call of Duty series, but at times I must admit that it did miss a certain something. Thankfully Call of Duty: WWII brings that certain something back to the series and I must admit that this is one of the best Call of Duty’s I’ve played in years. The boots on ground combat is back and it’s addictive as ever and the main reason for that is because it’s exciting throughout. Another reason why it’s so enjoyable is because of the improved gunplay, which I found to be more precise and responsive than it was in Infinite Warfare. Without a doubt this game is packed to the brim with content and they’ve even included some new modes, which by the way are brilliant and a great addition to the franchise. Multiplayer also has a lot of content and once again it’s addictive as ever, and the best thing is that I’ve suffered with no problems online to date. If you’re not a massive fan of multiplayer then you will be pleased to know that the game offers you a very good single player campaign. The campaign has been done really well and it really gives you an insight into some of the events that happened in WWII, I will say however that I would have liked a bit more variety when it came to the missions. The presentation side of the game is absolutely fantastic. Visually the game looks superb the whole way through and the voice actors really made the game even more of an immersive and enjoyable experience. At the end of the day fans of the Call of Duty series will be extremely pleased with the new addition to the genre, and I must applaud the amount of effort that has gone into Call of Duty: WWII. Without a doubt it’s clear that the developers/publishers have listened to fans of the series and tried to improve every key area, and the best thing is that these improvements have created one of the best Call of Duty game’s in years. Call of Duty: WWII has in my opinion made the series relevant again and I can’t recommend it enough. Expand

These maps are disastrous, so small i dont even understand why they include scope snipers. Who cares about campaign? I don't. It might be good or not. We buy COD because we get to play the online multiplayer. Which seems to be awesome this time. No more jetpacking, no more people flying in the sky. But there is a caveat: Matchmaking is not functional. That's it. Totally bugged.

This is jut not fun at all... Hard-worked money throwed in a trash bin, that's how I feel.
By the way, I have a good cabled connection, up-to-date router and all that. Brazil, Xbox One here. I feel other platforms are also affected.

After the sophistication of previous games the recent WW2 is a significant disappointment. Restricted playing field, less than believable characters and generally second rate graphics. The setting is "new" but it's still a modern CoD. The campaign is actually much better than the last games but the multiplayer is still not classic CoD. This doesn't have to be a bad thing if you like it but the developers always said "classic CoD" so I expected it and was disappointed.

Quick summary: The game is a bug-ridden disaster almost 2 weeks after launch. HQ, one of the main selling points of the game, is still disabled. The lobbies are very unstable, and you will constantly have to back out and close the app when your party gets separated. Zombies is fun if that is your thing, as it is very similar to past installments. The epic scale and theater of war in WW2 is nowhere found as there are essentially 4 main characters that you don't care about. You go from shooting gallery to shooting gallery only for it to just.... end.

I was gonna write a more in depth review, but I dont think the game deserves it in its current state. Multiplayer is in shambles. As I mentioned above, playing with friends is broken. Lag compensation is broken, making firefights just a dice roll more than anything else. Only 9 maps?! The game in general is lacking any sort of polish or thought and the whole came gives off a strong vibe that it was rushed out the door. I don't believe for a second that this is what 3 years of development produces. Between the broken UI, and the broken netcode, this game is an insult to any CoD multiplayer fan. Just wait till Black Friday, or wait another few months until patches come out to make this even remotely resemble a $60 game.

And why when I pick a gun up that a guy was using that had a suppressor on it does it magically not have the suppressor anymore? You can no longer have stock and ghost on the same class because of this archaic system. To further that, why is stock a perk and not a gun attachment...There are so so many things wrong with this game. No dedicated servers, terrible connectivity, slowest gameplays ever. The story is targeted entirely at the American audience and as a result entirely re-writes history and is grossly inaccurate almost to the point of being offensive - certainly so to anyone that actually fought in the war, what few of them there are left in the world for Activision to massively insult by writing their contribution out of history.

Thus even outside of the non-working servers, the dated gameplay, the abysmal AI, the obscure fluctuations in difficulty, there is a fundamental problem in that even the single player storyline just isn't engaging simply because it's a load of functional nonsense passed off as fact.

Activision could learn a lot from EA, whilst Battlefield 1 wasn't overly historically accurate in terms of weaponry, it's focus on the disparate storylines across the War was incredibly respectful to the countless sides who fought in it, which is far better than this insult that Activision have produced.

This is a game from a different era, outdated technology, outdated gameplay, and outdated American exceptionalism that's well past it's sell-by date.

Has the franchise been bought enough to vitiate the original game into a political football for people who can't help themselves? Are you that bloody minded to put your politics supraordinate to the heart of a game, which is gaming, to the point where the game sucks? Here we also have historical rewriting to be more PC across the board. The Nazis made no bones about enslaving and killing off the Untermensch, with nazi peasant soldiers each allocated 120 hectares of the conquered lands in Generalplanost. Their blood and soul ethos. You won't see it here in this fanciful PC schmaltz hoping for end user$$$. Equally, the Jewish Bolsheviks fomented civil discord in a hellish way in Germany and not only Germany. The Germans had their strong views and so did the Jewish Marxists of the Soviet Nomenklatura and Comintern. Full on war was the outcome. As for us, good gaming was always irreverent and above all about gaming, amplifying these historical absurdities, not cucking, no kowtow. Amplifying! It needs to said three times. Games are about gaming, ie competition, which is totally nonPC! This is another example of sequels in the ever more oppressive framework we all live in. What a shame. Looks like the only highlights this year are racing games. Hope RDR doesn't take a turn to the left, but not holding my breath after "that" scene in zombie mode. Too much time spent on perfecting PC and much less on the game itself, as per other reviews. So sad as I was really looking forward to this, after playing the first COD and all of them before the rubbish futurist ones. Expand

There is a Destiny style social space that makes no sense. There's no benefit to having this feature apart from showing off to everyone what you get from loot boxes. This allows Activision to bank on other players jealousy and sell even more loot boxes.

The historical inaccuracies are really insulting too. Red dot sights and hollow sights did not exist during WW2, soldiers weren't allowed to wear colorful uniforms yet this game allows you to buy weird skins that dont fit warfare or even the time period, AND WHY ARE THERE BLACK NAZIS? This is insulting to black people. Nazis were openly racist and I wouldn't want to dress up as someone who committed major atrocities against my race.

Swastikas are censored BTW. And you can play as female soldiers just as easily as male ones. SJWs have hit the gaming industry really hard.

Not gonna talk about zombies cause I'm tired of shooting zombies. ENOUGH ZOMBIES.

Campaign has a very good story and characters are interesting, but its too short. 6 hours is too little and this game was clearly developed multiplayer first with single-player as an afterthought. I won't be surprised when the day comes that CoD ships without a single player campaign.

DONT BUY THIS. LETS CHANGE THE INDUSTRY WE LOVE. VOTE WITH YOUR WALLET.

Basically, this COD was meant to be a nod to the games of old with a bs tagline of "Get your old squad back together". Well, I did, and while some think the game is passable and others would give this a zero, 4 is where I stand. I have played the series since Call of Duty 2 on Xbox 360 back in 05, and I believe I have just grown tired of the same formula, on top of the fact that this game is absolutely horrible. My review is more focused on the Multiplayer as it is the primary focus.

    Positives:

    - Campaign is great looking and very cinematic
    - WWII setting is nice to see again in both SP & MP
    - Headquarters setup for pre-game is a unique touch and offers some variety
    - Boots on the ground, no robots and jetpacks

    Negatives (Primarily in MP):

    - Cinematic campaigns do not equal fun
    - Nothing we have not seen before
    - Abysmal map design (3 main lanes, funnelled into the middle)
    - SMG focused CQB combat, not much variety for battles
    - No bolt action rifles without a scope? In a WWII based game? Is this a joke? (For Multiplayer)
    - Micro-transaction push with useless loot crates (near ubiquitous these days)
    - Forget about team focused gameplay (war mode is not as good as promised)
    - Spawning and spawn zones don't flip as much as they should, too easy to trap or be trapped
    - Forced perk system (divisions), does not allow you to mix and match perks to your liking as easily as previous entries

Not even gonna bother commenting on nazi zombies since it really does not change much and is usually pretty consistent in its ability to create chaotic fun and endless nights with friends. I am sure it does its job properly as its standalone mode, which I would technically deem a positive.

This game feels way too much like a re-skin, and less like a new and innovative AAA product (Yes, I know I should never expect COD and innovation to be mentioned in the same sentence nowadays). Alongside this, I have to mention that the servers for this game have been terrible as well, I did not want to mention it in the negatives as I am sure that it will be corrected soon.

Also, for the love of gaming, I do not know why Swastikas have to be removed from a game that is being released outside of Germany? It was part of WWII, gaming is not a place for sensitive SJWs to modify every aspect to their liking. The soldier configurations and officers fall in this category as well. A black woman on the front lines for the reich? Stop. Historical accuracy is important for these types of games IMO, and as great looking as the campaign may be, why are german soldiers wielding PPSH (Russian) sub machine guns in D-Day bunkers? The social justice aspect has become so intrusive in video games that its sad. I do not care who it offends, this has to be part of the review. If you want a fake and dishonest review about these games, go watch your favourite YouTuber or check your favourite game review site who both get paid to say good things about the product. AAA products are dying in the quality department with things like this and micro-transactions and nobody says or does anything about it.

Overall, you just cannot find enough positive things in this game to truly override the negatives, and for that reason, I end up giving this game a 4 or 40%, because while it is nice to see a return to boots on the ground and a WWII setting, the abysmal map design, exceptionally poor balancing, toxic community, lack of weaponry, and bad game mechanics just make this game a disaster that is relying on hype for a return to the old style of COD many of us miss. Take a pass on this one, those days are long gone.

Now the game has major lag and hit detection problems. I have spent most of my day trying to complete a special order, of winning one of each game type in multiplayer, but it has not gone well. Every single time I win a game of Capture the Flag, it kicks me out and doesn't award me with any EXP or the win towards the order. Though, if I lose the game, it will count. This game needs to be fixed asap. The PVP is just unbalanced. There is no other work for it. This game sucks in its current build. Please fix it. Please.....I want this game to be good so bad. My K/D is a 0.78 and it is 100% from how bad this game performs.

And dont even gir me stsrted on the terrible spawn points. COD has had bad spawn poij issues for years....but this takes the cake. I've watched enemies appear dead in front of me out of thin air and kill me. (They dont appear on the ground, they fall from about 7 feet up and shoot you). Real hard to shoot people who appear right in front of you unkess you have suoer human reflexes.

The only reason this is getting such a high score is because Activision PAID for the good reviews. Notice the majority of actual user reviews are negative but the review site reviews are positive? Yeah.....goes to show you how unreliable paid reviewers are. Don't listen to that stuff......this game is a 1, at best...and thats just because I like the timeline and the guns...

    Pros:

Really enjoying the WWII campaign and story. The MP is a lot of fun with a variety of modes. War mode is especially fun. The graphics, sound and feel of the game are of great quality.

    Cons:

With only 9 MP maps and 3 War mode maps it leaves a lot to be desired with map variety for a base game. Would have been better to have 14 or so maps for MP and 6 or so for War mode. Never been a huge Zombies fan of any of the CoDs so I can't comment on that since it wouldn't be specific to this game.

    Overall Impression:

Solid, super fun game. If you like boots-on-the-ground CoD then this game is a pleasant return to CoDs roots. The MP is really fun and enjoyable. Divisions is a welcome addition creating additional variety. Overall really well pleased with this imperfect game. Hopefully they continue to make QoL improvements throughout its lifespan.

Sledgehammer, what, has a b or c rated xbox original game that hardly anyone plays? The gameplay is **** the story is way oversold by the company and it's bought for critics. They make it out to be like some Private Ryan movie, not even close. It's just another video game story with some cool cinematic scenes in between garbage gameplay. The worst game of COD franchises ever.
Nothing does work well. The soldier class builder is horroble.
I do not know what they did, the IW was great, they could use a similar mechanic. Poor game, with the exception of graphics, everything else sucks.

I would say this is the best COD campaign to date, but unfortunately that's a rather low bar set by a series who clearly focuses on the multiplayer aspect. I had fun with the story which took me around 9 hours to play through on regular difficulty. I'm a little surprised to see that such a huge franchise not only fails to push the envelope on graphics/emersion/sound, but doesn't even seem to meet the expectations set by games like Battlefield 1 and Ghost Recon Wild Lands. Granted BF1 may have been ahead of it's time, but it's also a year old, so my biggest gripe with WW2 is the unmistakably inferior gameplay. Most notably, the first person movement, it still glides along way too fast and sporadic very unlike true POV movement should be. Cut scenes where normally a game gets to flex it's graphic muscles, still lack. There is definite mismatching of mouth/words, choppy movement and "game" feel. But it's a review and I'm mostly pointing out the flaws, I did enjoy it and don't regret $60 purchase.

Multiplayer- Come one guys, there must be SOMETHING you can do to fix this. Unless you are a habitual COD or other FPS multiplayer gamer, the multiplayer is simply no fun, and actually quite irritating. I don't blame the kids who are scoring 30-2 in team deathmatch, I DO blame the creators for not correcting the problem. There are definitely ways to create lobby's either manual or auto where players can play with similar K:D ranges as themselves. I don't want an "I suck" lobby, I don't mind scoring low, I just want to play and have some fun after $60 and only a 9 hour campaign. I've logged about 3 hours of online play at the time of this review, and in team deathmatch/domination play I'm averaging about a 5:20. Simply no fun and pisses off the rest of the team. If I could rate the story and multiplayer separate I'd say 7 and 1. Even the war mode, which is nice they don't show my huge amount of deaths, the gameplay isn't much more fun since I'm still being shot in the face every 6 steps.
I'm not sure what was different, but while BF1's campaign was a better single player experience, they also seemed to write a multiplayer experience that was accommodating for the "Dad" players like me. I think after a few days I was close to a 1:2 average and 1:1 on good days, not a selfish goal for online play. It probably has to do with the COD players adapting to really what is only new maps/guns per release, and right back to praying on guys like me haha.

Thanks for reading, please check out my profile for other "Dad" reviews.

Know that I haven't played the game myself but also know that I'm not a idiot when it comes to quality FPS games and guess what? This game sucks. You play one of these crappy cod games and you have pretty much played them all... I have done enough research and have seen that the game is as I had expected. Trash... But hey... We smart people all saw this coming. We knew it was going to suck lol. Just another terrible cod game with the WW2 paint coat put on.

Short 6 hour campaign that's not very historically accurate as advertised. Also has dumb AI and glitches on top of stuttering issues many have been reporting.

Game also has micro transactions which automatically knocks the game down several points.

Lobbies and load times are totally garbage in this game. Dead zone issues with aiming have been reported multiple times.

Trash maps that are very few with many guns missing that I'm sure will be released over time through dlc/micro transaction horse **** and butt ****ery...

Here's the funniest thing of all... Apparently the ps4 version is working better than the xbox one version. The xbox one version was unplayable for the first few days of launch for most xbox one folk... At least the online multiplayer part. So why is the ps4 version getting a slightly lower metacritic critic score by the critics???? Lol whatever... Maybe it's got something to do with that over priced and pretty much useless for gamers console known as the xbox one x? Who knows who cares...

There are other problems but I don't care to remember them right now. I'm just caring enough to do this review for laughs and for the good of gaming. DON'T buy jokes of a game like this one. They exist to rob you blind and leave you with nothing but frustration. You people should honestly know this by now. I mean for ****s sake... It's cod... It's crap division... It's supposed to suck lol.

Decent visuals though... Lets not let this review be all negativity... Gotta give credit where it's due I suppose... Just to be fair and nice : )

Even without many of the problems I listed though... It's still just trashy cod at the end of the day so I would still give it a low score lolz.

I have never actually given a game a 0 before. I gave the ps4 version a 1 since it at least runs decently on the ps4. But since pretty much absolutely nothing works on the xbox one version... I'm going to have to give this a 0. I'm sorry but decent visuals in this case being the only decent thing about the game isn't enough to give this trash even 1 point. The game being a broken unfinished mess on top of being a corporate cash cow micro transaction game designed to screw you over means I'm not giving it any credit. It's not even a game to me. It's just a scam at the end of the day. You all know it's true. Those of you who actually have a brain that is...

This is the first COD game I've bought in years and it's such a tragic disappointment. The main issues with the game for me are the Divisions classes, the unresponsive controls and the maps. The Division classes essentially force you to play certain ways. So instead of picking perks to best suit your play-style you choose divisions. It's needlessly restrictive and feels as though this is just another way that the developers are trying to "even out" the competition, as so to give newcomers a better chance. The maps are designed in a way whereby if you're playing S&D it's hard to flank and you'll usually just run into people head-glitching on something. There is nothing "dynamic" about this game. It's unresponsive, the map design feels lazy and the visuals are poor compared to other current-gen games. It's one of those rare instances where the game is so rubbish that I can't even be bothered to give it a longer, more in-depth review. Waste of money Expand

This Call Of Duty is a mockery to the intelligence, it can have in some parts good graphics and few good moments that please those who do not ask much for a game. However, they spoil a very important historical fact by putting boxes of micropayments. Eliminate a moment that should be epic for putting in the face of the player his bad practice of selling items that help you, but you lose the immersive aspect. Despite having current graphics it looks as if it were for children. Then you realize that they underestimate you as a player, regardless of whether you have already played other Call Of Duty's. Kinda disappointed with only getting 9 multiplayer maps when older CODs would give us 14 or so at launch. Weapons are cool and sound great. The new War mode is fun and engaging; I always wondered what it would be like to be a German soldier mowing down the Americans from the machine gun bunker on the beaches of Normandy (you get to do this in one of the War mode sections). There's a new social space like Destiny's tower which allows you team up with others, tryout score streaks, do weapon paint jobs, and pick up challenges that help with level progression and allow you to acquire special weapons/gear. Lastly, it's great to have boots on the ground again!

The graphics are good for what the outdated engine will allow but the developers need to design a new COD engine if they want to keep up with Destiny and Battlefield visuals. Sledgehammer Games did a great job again and delivered a fine product. It's not perfect by no means but there's not too much to complain about. If they would've used an updated engine and delivered more maps, most of us COD fans would be more than happy. Lastly, it's great to have boots on the ground again!

After CALL OF DUTY: WWII start to appreciate the peaceful times in which we live.

The story tells the usual story of a military soldier. Together with brothers in arms wades through a real hell. We've seen similar stories in games, the war has not been shown so realistically. Basically, this effect causes dismemberment. Very often we will see people without body parts, burning people and the atrocities of the Nazis.

The plot is simple, but you believe in this war, believe what is happening on the screen. All the characters have their own character, everyone has their demons. It is interesting to observe the drama of the characters.

The gameplay is now in spirit first every part OF CALL OF DUTY. Because of this the gameplay has become more boring. You sit behind cover and aims at enemies. Diversity is not. But there is one good innovation. The developers decided to implement in a single company element of teamwork. If we need supplies, first aid kit or swegene about the enemy - we are asking comrades. This is an interesting thing. and Yes, now health itself is not restored - it is necessary to look for kits. Here you don't feel like a super soldier ready to kill everyone, you could die at any moment.

Call of Duty: WWII is a game about realistic warfare. A single company is not very long, but no time to get bored. It's not the best Call of Duty, gameplay and artistic design can to lose IW, but nevertheless it was nice to return to the battlefields of WWII.

Finally a decent Call of Duty. The last few years the multiplayer has just been rubbish. This one feels fresh but familiar. Boots on the ground! No more getting shot in the back by some idiot jetpacking over you before you even realise there is someone there.

The single player campaign is amazing. Something about doing the beach landings at Normandy sends a chill down my spine

Very impressive visually, and the controls and gameplay just feel nice and smooth. Welcome back COD!

No timeline change can mask the problems with the gameplay design and the lack of imagination. Only a significant drop in sales will signal to Activision to kill off this series and let the studios do their own thing. If you haven't been happy with CoD for years, you're not going to like this much at all. My advice: rent the game for a couple days and play the campaign. If you love Nazi Zombies, that's about the only high replay value you can find from this otherwise-limited shooter. If you love the era, what are you doing buying this game? Battlefield 1, though more complex and less rookie-friendly at times, is a MUCH better display into this era of history and should be favored over WWII. Side note: this game looks pretty lame in multiplayer - Call of Duty has finally shown its age as its game engine has lacked convincing detail on consoles. Some may find it appealing but I'd have to contest their gameplay catalog as several other AAA titles do a significantly better job of showing something beautiful on-screen. Expand

The characters and story are historically accurate for the most part*, interesting and very detailed. The only thing I was really disappointed about was the game seemed to avoid anything to do with Nazi's or death camps*. While I understand the lack of this content I feel like they should have made an edit for the countries where this was not permissible. Unfortunately for the first three days after purchasing this game I was unable to play the game online at all due to server problems. This was my first clue of many that the game, while playable in its current state, could have used several more months of fine-tuning. Before I dive back into the problems I want to talk about another positive of the game which was the zombie game mode. While the map is rather small compared to many recent zombie maps it is a rather fun experience. There are many hidden easter eggs to discover including the main one being summoning the zombie boss which required team-work and coordination between your online party. I am continually dissapointed every time a new call of duty is released with zombies and it doesnt include a search paramater option. I am sick of backing out of groups a hundred times over again trying to find three other people with microphones. Searching for people close to your level and with a mic would make the game mode a million times better. As you level up in zombies you unlock new weapon attachments, loot boxes with skins or one time use consumables, and raven tokens which are used to as a class system to include minor perk upgrades. The only problem is aside from the hold three gun perk that you start with most of these perks that you can unlock are relatively useless. Now to dive into arguably the worst and most unpolished part of the game, the online multiplayer. Aside from connection problems that seem to be plaguing most of the gaming population right now it doesnt take long playing and leveling up in multiplayer to notice how unfinished this part of the game is. I wont go into detail but if you really want to read the long, laundry list of problems you can find it on the ww2 reddit page. I will however mention a few of the problems quickly. The main one being the longer load times after and before you get into games due to the hq having to constantly reload, which is rather pointless because in its current state no other players load into the hq which at one time was meant to be a shared hq between people to marvel at what other people were getting in their loot boxes. This leads me to my next point which is how poorly thought our this games entire loot system is. Lets talk about the fact that they have seemingly hundreds of different pistol grips which is entirely pointless because you cant even see the pistol grips in game, and when you have camo on the pistol it completely covers them up. Also the multiplayer mechanics are grossly misbalanced with people able to quick scope with no need to aim, people drop-shotting way too fast (going prone needs to be slowed alot), terrible gun balance with only a few guns being viable competitively. The multiplayer is by far the worst part of this game and you can tell they ran out of time and shoved it out the door before they should have. As it is now I would recommend this game as a rental and if they add some polish and the game drops in price it could very well be worth a buy in the future. People, however, need to stop supporting these game companies releasing. unfinished products Expand

Call of duty WWII is the blandest title in the series to date. While the game is competently made (apart of the horrendous server issues and some absolutely terrible maps) it just feels like a mash of other cod games without standing on it's own.

The multiplayer hasn't changed much. Apart from headquarters and the war mode, there is nothing here that's hasn't been done in previous cods and it in fact loses some modes like ground war and gun game. everything that the game does well, feels like something black ops 2 did before it and better like the camo challenges (which were way to hard in AW), the emblem editor and the general fast pace of the gameplay.
the new divisions are basically just a load of perks divided into groups while having one separate called basic training. technically you can have 5 perks at once, but not mix them and you can't switch them out with attachments or grenades which really limits the creativity found in the "pick 10" system
The maps themselves are mostly close quarters so shotguns are rampant. There are quite a few maps that aren't very good. USS Texas is one of the worst maps i've ever played in a cod game. It's almost as bad as stonehaven from ghosts. There are only 9 maps (not including the 3 war maps) where only around 3-4 of them are any good.

As far as the campaign goes, it's the same story there. You get exactly what you expect, without anything really surprising happening. The only real difference is that it has gone back to the health pack system from the very first cod and its expansion. You can either find them around the levels or kill enough Nazis for your teammate to give you one. It doesn't really make that much of a difference since the game is fairly easy to get trough, even on veteran difficulty.
It does have one or two missions that are pretty nice, like the stealth mission in France, but overall the eastern front setting already has been done to death in previous cod games or equivalent.

As for the zombie mode... it's alright. It is way easier compared to the say the black ops 2 ZM. I am not the biggest zombies player out there, so i don't know how it stacks up with all the Easter egg things and what not, But for the casual zombie player, it's alright.

WWII is by no means a bad game. Compared to some of the previous games like cod ghosts, it really is good. But ghosts actually tried something different, With the bigger maps and faster time to kill to make team-play more viable. It failed miserably but at least it tried. This game just feels like a less polished black ops 2 with worse maps and a different setting. If you haven't played a cod game in the last 4 years and just want a "boots on the ground" cod, and don't really care that it hasn't changed much then this is for you. For anyone burned out by the series by now, it probably won't change your opinion of it.

    The good:
    - Fun, enjoyable and rather a historically focused story.
    - Nazi zombies is by far the most enjoyable aspect of the game.
    - New War mode is great, the only good maps if you ask me.
    The bad:
    - Awful multiplayer maps
    - Lousy scorestreaks
    - Bad weapon balancing
    - Some features not finished on launch (Paintjob for example). Rushed game.

Well, although the campaign is much better than the last three entries (BO3, AW, and IW). There are mix of tank section, aviation battle, espionage, and stealth. However, tank and aviation battle especially sucks, because even though they are fun it only lasts about 15-20 min as part of a mission, and NOT as a whole mission. Espionage while entertaining, it's easy enough for anyone with basic stealth instincts can plow through. And Stealth.....oh my god, it sucks. There is so much stealth in this game. You'd think that would be nice taking a break from full frontal combat, but these stealth sections are annoyingly paced. I was expecting a brother-in-arms type of bonding with my npc comrades, but that never happened.

Multiplayer is also a lot better, but still kinda the same. We finally don't have jet-packs and futuristic abilities, so the gameplay is much more grounded (literally). It's still only fun when you are the one kicking asses, but you'll still be plagued with cheap shots, 6-year olds who apparently did your mother, and those who are better than you. Oh and lootboxes, while unnecessary, shows the greedy corperate bs side of Activision in a full force.

If you are looking to get COD, WWII is the game I'd recommend(sorta). The game looks great, campaign has its moments, and multiplayer as always needs some serious balancing.

If they wanted this game to be a close to realistic as they set out to do, they would stop this completely. No where in the history of wars are there snipers that run and gun. You have to put your eye on the scope and then take your shot. One of these developers one of these days needs to address this. Campaign is great. Maybe this is their second or third first person shooter, and this game was actually better than the other one or two. It's possible. They could be the designers of the game, or their friends and relatives. Or they are idiots. This game is not better than 90% of the other CoD games, or Tribes, Doom, Halo, Battlefield (except Battlefield Hardline), and the list goes on. Give this game a seven, maybe... The 1's and 2's are a bit harsh. 8's, 9's, 10's... Those reviewers just look silly to those of us with any experience in the genre. My guess is that most of the negative reviews have come from folks like myself that have been playing first person shooters for many years and this one does not rate in the top 30. These dweebs act like we are complaining about the game because we are getting killed? Is it the other way around and those giving this game a high score are thrilled because they are performing much better now that the game is so skewed?

Play is smooth. A few maps support whatever play style you prefer. Others strongly benefit either the submachinegunner, or the sniper. The sldkf;lkjad;lifj!@#%^@#$^& sniper rifle. Who is the %*^% jerk that decided sniper rifles should, yet again, kill people with one quick trigger shot to the knee while multiple rounds from assault rifles or light machine guns is insufficient to kill. End of mission kill cams showing the lame sniper pow pow powing 3 in a row while other players have to EARN it. Really, the game play programming seems to be pretty good, but THE GAME isn't so hot. The maps aren't great. It's like Hexen and the other hundreds of first person shooters did not come before this game was made. I just don't want to be a sprinting sub machine gun user, or a sniper. I want to whine about not being able to play the game the way I want to play it. Oh yeah, a bunch of stuff out side of battle does not work. The wander around and get stuff area is silly. Arg. I prepaid for the special edition with season passes... A lame Call of Duty???? Some better than others throughout franchise history, but this is a new low. Battlefield Hardline was lame too, and I prepaid for that one. Lesson learned. These franchises are just waiting for me to prepay and then whamo, mediocrity. Every other day there seems to be an update to this game. Maybe a big game company should buy the franchise. One that will be ready for launch. Gosh I am irritated. I have probably played a thousand computer and console games since 1980. This isn't one of the worst games I have played, but the disappointment level makes it pretty frustrating.

I'm a long term CoD player, it's my favourite and most played multiplayer IP. So when I bought and played this I was sorely disappointed. Please don't listen to the 0-3 reviews, and equally please ignore the 8-10 reviews, they're total bull.
I won't go too in depth as to why I don't like this game I'll just list a few points I think are most important.
Everyone is raving about war, I can understand why people like it but for me dying 10+ times is infuriating and pointless, if I wanted to play a purely objective game mode is play battlefield who actually have a player base who will play the objective.
Zombies is good at first but very very boring and too complicated to play more than a few times for me.
Campaign was pretty good to be honest.
The multiplayer is the core to this game and I hate the new class system it's restrictive and honestly ruined the game for me, I prestiges all classes just for the weapons then changed them all to mountain. Spawns are terrible, maps are terrible and theres 9?! There's literally 3 decent maps. Weapons are all about the assault rifles of the ppsh.
    Quickscoping is here.
I'll say no more it's not worth the time to structure this review knowing about 5 people will read, but if you are reading and a real a big cod fan, I was 38th in Europe on WaW and It will take alot of convincing for me to buy the next game. Traded in.

The bad things about are that the servers on the game are terrible. When me and my friends leave a game everyone but the party leader gets put in limbo where all we can see is a black screen and we have to get kicked from the party and re invited to the party for it to fix. Until they fix it there are certain guns that are way to overpowered and if anyone uses it that get tons of kills. So for me its a 5 just because of how bad the servers are right now and there are times I have a hard time playing the game because of the servers but if they ever get them fixed the game is around a 7 in my opinion so is worth it if you get it on sale. THIS CALL OF DUTY IS THE BEST CALL DUTY SINCE MW!!!!!!!!. Sledgehammer has done SO MUCH BETTER! Since AW, I can't wait to buy their dlc pack which has MORE war scenarios, more maps for multiplayer and zombies( obviously). I legit forgot the ending, but i dont need to know the ending to know what its gonna be. Its gonna end all like your the best and no one else could have done what you did. the "campaign" feels more like im watching a on rails movie then a actual game. The amount of explosions in the "campaign" felt like i was watching a battle unfold in fallout 4 if they all had fat mans.

    ZOMBIES.

Zombies is actually really underrated. I mean, i know it do'sent really have anything special about it but if you think about it, neither did nacth dier untoten from WAW, same with verrtuck, shi no numa, and kino der toten. people always say those are the best maps ever, but they only say that because its treyarch. Like the "campaign" theirs a lot of explosions . Im actually okay with it because its made up so i dont give a **** now lets go into the biggest part of the game yet, the reason you bought this ****ing game.

Multiplayer is really unbalanced. i mean all of these "nerf's" and "buffs" really do nothing. so what if they nerfed the STG or the FG42, those guns are still really overpowered. the maps are all the same in this game, left middle right. The new DLC guns are trash, the gewher 43 is like a m1a1 carbine, the sten is like a **** version of the grease gun, the GPMG is worse then pre-buffed Bren, the Ice Pick needs a little more range, the trench knifve is ok. my favriote map is opetation neptune. and thats it. It has an enjoyable solo campaign but the game doesn't have a steady climb rate of difficulty, instead has spikes of extremely hard bits in random bits of the game and possibly the hardest part of the game is right at the start trying to get off the beach which is certainly a no no for a game even though in reality this would be factually correct as alot of people died on those beaches

I thought modern warfare 2 was too fast, but this is ridiculous. The game feels like a round of speedball with everyone on crack. Waaay too fast. waaaay too reliant on how fast you can get your sights on and pull the trigger than actual teamwork. Waaaay too easy to die and know exactly where your enemy is going after your death. There's things you begin to take for granted when you switch over to a game like battlefield - destructible environments, different classes that actually PLAY differently, vehicles, large maps, more team play... I could go on. The game feels like it caters to hormonal teenage boys.

This game is very easy to hate. Very easy to laugh at. And for very good reason. I didn't buy the last 6 call of duty games before this and I will never buy another one after. I've learned my lesson.

Bad maps, bad gameplay, bad almost everything. I am aware it received a lot of improvements after I quit though so it may be worth trying now.

The tone is completely incoherent. Severe missteps on Sledgehammer's part. The characters/story all showed promise up until the very end, which is even more disappointing. Multiplayer is riddled with microtransaction/loot box garbage and overall isn't a very solid experience even to play. The campaign does have a few really cool moments, and the technical aspects of the game are quite impressive, but overall this game is an misguided mess.

Each map feels uninspired and lazy in its design, and, my God, the Three-Lane-Structure is just the worst. The Campaign is pretty enjoyable, surprisingly - the relationships between the characters throughout the 7-8 hour ordeal is reminiscent of Saving Private Ryan and Band of Brothers, and the story borrows heavily from the two properties as well. Headquarters is a welcome yet heavily flawed addition to the franchise, but it manages to offer some interesting activities to complete away from the chaos of the Multiplayer. Call of Duty WWII is a decent game, but does not live up to its expectations as a game that spent, supposedly, three whole years in development. Expand

DLC weapons are way too common (close to as many or more than Infinite Warfare during that game's entire cycle, and this game is 6 months in as of me posting this).

While I appreciate the return to the series' roots, the WW II setting has been a bit played out. Developer Sledgehammer Games has done an admirable job with the campaign and multiplayer, but none of it stands out from what's been done before. The same goes for the new Zombies mode; it's enjoyable, but too similar to past versions.

Ultimately, a lack of innovation is the reason "Call of Duty: WW II" doesn't rank up with the best COD titles. Yes, there are now soldier classes in multiplayer, but aside from "War", there are no new competitive modes to speak of. The maps are also a bit lacking in creative design. Regardless, fans of "World at War" and "Call of Duty 2" should enjoy the game despite its inferiority. I personally think it's a big step up from "Infinite Warfare". It's fast, fluid and enjoyable, although it's not the best. I'd give it an 8 out of 10

That being said, I spent far too much time on the beach dying, so much so, that I nearly gave up and quit. I didn't, and as I got better I started to enjoy it more and more. But, at the end of the day this is a mediocre game, and I wouldn't spend new game money on it.
What's to like? The graphics are intense....maybe some of the best I've seen. I haven't got a lot of experience, but jumping from bioshock infinite to this is incredible. I also enjoyed the game play. Like I said, once I got better, I got in to it. I loved the sighting with scopes, I got immersed in the play and enjoyed the excursions from regular play style (there is a fighter plane mission that is kind of cool).
What's to hate? Far too much. First and foremost, it's short. So much so that I felt cheated...just as I was getting in to it, it ended. Second, waaaaay too much video. I've never been fond of these sequences and my god, the end of the game is a half hour of video. wtf? I also really hated how much I would die, and then have to redo some portion of the game. There are also some crappy sequences where you have no idea what you need to do to succeed; weird sequences where you finally figure out you have to move your right stick to center and hit x, etc. etc. There's also an insane mission you don't realize you have to do in stealth mode to beat, so you spend an hour fighting through going wth?
All in all, I think I liked playing it, but if I knew ahead of time I would've gotten dishonored instead.

As someone that hadn't really been that into COD since they switched away from boots on the ground gameplay, I was excited to hear that Sledgehammer Games was going away from the jetpacking ways of recent COD titles.

Generally speaking, the game is pretty average to below average. While there is a decent selection of weapons, and more have come out as the game has matured, the balancing is still off, most notably with the shotguns. Maps on the other hand are severely lacking. At release, there were only nine maps, and most of them were pretty terrible. New DLC was released that addressed this issue a bit, with the inclusion of a few new maps. While this does help the issue a bit, I surely don't think players should have to pay $15 just to play on a couple of decent maps.

A couple things that I have enjoyed thus far have been the inclusion of the War game mode, the Headquarters, and the supply drop system, specifically the many ways that they can be earned through gameplay. The War game mode has provided a different style of game where players don't have to worry about kills and deaths so much, which allows for a better objective based mode. I think that is a great addition to a game where normal objective based matches are played more like a team deathmatch than they are a true objective mode. Further, I think the inclusion of the Headquarters has been nice, as it is just something different to play around with between games. Finally, I am very impressed with the way that contracts and challenges work in regards to earning supply drops daily, which allows players to earn new weapons and uniforms for their characters just by completing a handful of easy objectives each day.

Overall, the game does play pretty well, but it has too many issues to be considered a classic COD title.
