    This game is for children, it marketed itself as a gritty first person mature experience. At the end of the day it’s the same old Call of Duty experience. The absolute last one I will buy, very disappointed in my purchase.

    The multiplayer is broken and unplayable all people use is the 725 and the m4 they said that they nerfed in 3 updates but it's still way better weapons than any other

    Terrible game. We wanted a new version of COD4 not a terrible, slow, campy version of Black Ops 4 with bad netcode and twenty-five unrealistic killstreaks. I was actually looking forward to this game, until I played it. I put two days into this game, but I just uninstalled it and won't be back. I will never buy another COD game again.

    I would have given a much higher rating if they hadn't killed every good thing about multiplayer in the latest updates. They have ruined stealth completely, somehow made spawning and camping ten times worse. Guns that didn't need to be nerfed have been nerfed

    I paid $99 for them steelbok special edition. Played it starting with early access. Enjoyed the single player campaign, and multiplayer was pretty good. Got to level 144 before season one made me start back at 55. What do you get for playing the hell out of the game? Go back to being enlisted level 55 and nobody would know that I almost leveled out at 155 except for a few minorI paid $99 for them steelbok special edition. Played it starting with early access. Oh, but they give you a free 20 levels but they are all bull crap and it’s one free level folllwed by 4 locked levels (the good loot), then another freebie. Enough of this I’m done.… Expand

    Honestly I do not know where to even begin...

    I’ve been playing call of duty since CoD 2 days and have played every iteration in between with thousands and thousands of hours gaming time... there have been ups and down along the way but Modern Warfare is a nail in the coffin as far as I’m concerned.

    This game is cancer, there is little I like about it bare the movement mechanics and graphics....

    The story mode is painfully slow paced and boring, dimly lit and far too tactical to really have much fun... you have to sweat even in campaign mode LOL.

    But that’s not even 1% of what is wrong with this **** show. The online experience is nothing short of a brain aneurism.

    I genuinely find myself having to psych myself up mentally before I even switch the game on at this point... I tell myself to just try and have fun don’t focus on the bull**** just run and gun, rush a flew b flags, try and at least have some fun but no.

    Between the SBMM and the awful hit detection and stupid TTK, awful map design, **** spawns and glitchy audio you just can’t enjoy it.

    I somehow have 2 days play time which I find hard to believe as I can’t even go 2 to 3 matches without having to turn the game off due to the anger it makes me feel. No CoD has ever made me this stressed to play.

    Not to mention the fact the battle pass is wack and the latest update somehow wiped all my CoD Points id collected which in normal circumstances would have really pissed me off however I couldn’t really care less on this game because I’m never going to play it long enough to warant saving cod points for skins or weapons etc.

    The game was already cancer before the latest update however they’ve decided to slap the old school cod lovers in the face again by ruining two perfectly good maps, vacant isn’t too bad apart from the new safe space outside and the fact they moved the position of the bins near the old jump shot so the only way to get a line of site down the long corridor is to climb the bin below the window and inevitably get killed before you even make it half way.

    But SHIPMENT... seriously don’t get me started on shipment... just play a game for yourself I don’t even have the energy to write out everything that’s wrong with that map... just utter **** The worst spawns in FPS history by a country mile.

    There’s literally maybe 2-3 half decent online maps the rest are actual crap...

    The game is seriously not right, not to mention that in recent days it takes me upwards of 10 minutes to find a full lobby without players backing out because we have no choice of map or ability to vote so when we get one of the **** maps which statistically is about 80% chance then everyone backs out and you fail to even start a game which creates stress before you even get into the game which causes heart attack levels of stress LOL!

    Why does every single game go to the time limit? A 10 v 10 and the maps are so big that after the game ends the top player might be lucky to have 15 kills that’s like 1 kill per minute some games unless you spawn trap and can avoid being killed by the countless campers this games pace has created.

    I’m honestly about to uninstall the game and not even consider redownloading until massive changes are made because at this stage the game is unplayable for a serious player. I average a 3.0 KD or thereabouts across all the other games yet this game I can barely keep a 1.5 because of the SBMM... every game I play feels like an MLG sweat fest World Series final with millions on the line, every player on both teams is sweating heavily and we’re all of a good quality so it’s barely even possible to do well most games you and the rest of the lobby will scrape just above or below a 1.0 KD... that is not fun IW... we are casual gamers who want to have fun after a stressful day at work or school for the younger generation and this game is literally a mental health hazard it gives me migraines and can literally ruin my whole night because of how badly it annoys me that my favourite game franchise is going down the ****ter. I could go on for hours but if anybody actually takes the time to read this before buying just don’t... it’s not worth the stress and anger plus the money it will cost you. Save your money and buy literally any other game...    … Expand

    The campaign is ridiculously short. Infinity Ward lied one more time. Spec Ops doesn't feel like Spec Ops, it feels like battle royale, and I hate battle royale. Multiplayer has pink stuffs that does not fit in a military shooter game. Now Infinity Ward screwed up everything due to aggressive micro-transaction incoming. This is 5 dollars game.

    The game is the best CoD in YEARS. Story is fantastic, multiplayer is the best it's been in a long time.

    Excellent game! This game has officially brought me back to the call of duty franchise after switching over to battlefield ( still prefer battlefields destructibility and all out war). And is it just me or do the majority of the negative user reviews regarding the portrayal of the Russian's seem like blatant trolling by the actual Russians? This is based on real life events where in the 90's American Troops bombed and slaghtered civillian and surrendering Iraqi Troops in a Genocide/War Crime. In the game everything is the same except accusing the Russians of this crime. Woeful.

    Multiplayer has potential however is absoute Trash. Netcode is no good often you will get killed when in cover and see on other persons Kill Cam that you were not in cover like you thought you were. The unfortunatte design of both maps and TTK(Time To Kill) ensures people will need to camp in order to get kills. Spawns are terrbile nothing tactical about the game, no matter how many corners and windows you check you still get shot in the back.

    Spec Ops is a complete lie, lackluster maps. Unlimited spawning enemies and is almost impossible to beat. Don't believe me check the Modern Warfare Subreddit.

    Sad I wasted $70 AU on this game I don't reccomend it to anyone in its current state. Terrible. I made a meta critic account just to post this review.    … Expand

    Very good campaign and very well put together story wise. Love the multiplayer just hope they add more guns in the future. Ignore all these junk reviews. It’s been stated that this game is set in a fictional universe. They can pull names and places from real life and use them to make a story. Does not have to match up with our history. All in all a very well done game. Big step up from BO4

    Great Call Of Duty this year. Campaign is visually great introducing some new mechanics into it. Multiplayer is great, time to kill and overall gameplay flow is decent. A game pass system is going to be introduced later though. Similar to the battle pass system in FortniteWhuch is disappointing because it's not a free game. .

    The game came out great! I loved how everything I wanted I had to work for it! Earn it. Not pay money like almost every other game. But now after they added their greedy corporate microtransactions I've hated the game... now all the stuff everyone has worked for is inept to all the flashy new stuff that ppl can just pay for now. Before all this I would've gave this a game a perfect score.

    Great game, multiplayer is great fun. The story of the campaign is brutal and does paint Russia as the baddies but the way they've acted in Syria recently and Afghanistan previously it's a fair commentary. The brutality of the campaign is harrowing and certainly doesn't glorify war, which from a war game is some feat. Good job Activision!

    The game plays like a dream. It's the best call of duty to date by far. The visuals are amazing. It's crazy that the effects, lightning, and character models are all spot on. The most believable character models period. They feel like they have a soul. Seriously though, if you have a soul be ready for some emotionally charged gameplay.     Ну наконец то на рынке появился нормальный шутан да еще и с неплохим сюжетом (как для шутана). Прошел с удовольствием, жаль что сюжетная компания довольно короткая (впрочем в CoD всегда так).

    Saying that the games is "russophobic" is ridiculous. In the game you work together with Russian agents against the evil Russian general! Also, the Americans are portrayed negatively several times in the game, including dishonorably abandoning their allies (just like real life). What are you all talking about? Finish the campaign before talking about the story, at least.

    This game is great, I don't know what everyone is on about. Starting with the campaign, the gameplay feels much more grounded in reality and feels much more like an actual person moving (Most of the time). I won't spoil anything, but it is good and draws some stuff out while also being very tense and engaging. I won't spoil anything, but it is good and draws some stuff out while also being very tense and engaging. In multiplayer I currently run an M4 with A MK18 style setup and a flip up/ down hybrid. It works great for me, no so great for others, and I like that. The depth of customization is insane. Me and a buddy sounded like we were talking about actual firearms when we were just talking about our loadouts in the game. When you hit the ground at first, it's hard and you may get beat down (I did) but you just have to keep playing and get better, contrary to what many will say. Once you get create a class it gets better. As far as gameplay goes, it is still very much call of duty, but it is a lot more grounded in reality and is much more "tactical" for lack of a better term. You wanna clear a building, better throw in a flash or concussion (flashbangs are pretty busted right now, and the spam is insane) and clear the corners. You wanna cross a road that is currently lit up? Throw a smoke or run your balls off. You have to be smart a lot of the times, and that seems to be what 1. Differentiates good and bad players and 2. Differentiates good and bad reviews of this game. Sorry that this isn't your CoD mobile but on console/ PC. The weapons feel as real as a game can make them feel, the gameplay feels very nice and is a good mix between classic call of duty, and the new faster paced games (with a hint of battlefield in there). The campaign of this game lays it out, it doesn't care for your feelings. This game is what is is, and you need to adapt to play. I'd give it 9 out of 10, one point of because the spawns are not the best at times, flashbangs/ concussions/ non lethals are spammed constantly and are insanely powerful (flashbangs especially). To add to this, at times it seems like I run and run and run and then die, for whatever reason. Given some, if not most of the time, it I my fault. My other point taken off, for a final of 8/10 will be because the spec ops is broken beyond belief. Way too many enemies at times, juggernauts are almost unkillable, and they don't have checkpoints after very clear key points. We extracted this chick from a container, protected her, then extracted her just to then land and protect an APC while 20+ enemies with RPGs hiding in buildings fired on it. Or how about the infamous airport mission. You hack the terminals, which is hard as hell and has jugs bombarding you the whole time, just to get on a plane and carry out a MW3/ MW style raid on said plane, then you jump out and parachute to safety and the mission ends... No it doesn't, you then have to extract that core from a nuclear device to and extraction point, which we didn't even get to because my parachute randomly closed and killed me, and juggernauts chased the rest of my team and mowed them down. It's insanely imbalanced and lacks many player friendly things such as CPs and regular enemy saturation, which sucks because we were still having fun (for the most part). I hope they fix it, because I was very much looking forward to it.… Expand

    Who ever gives this game a score below a 9 or 10 is out of their minds, this is the best call of duty to come out since the OG's. The Story was amazing and the multiplayer is enjoyable, if your complaining about laggy game play, i'm sorry its just your pc because the game runs just fine, and i already know anyone making a bad review has K.D ratio of below a 1.

    Vetran seems to be easier than previous games, but its nice not having infinite spawning enemies like in COD4.

    Issues:
    - Kicking me out of games (8/10 times)

    Feeling incredible, story impressive, this is a great game. Game, only game. I understand it is very actual and caricatural about russians, but if you play it as a game, all game modes are fantastic, even solo (first time I finish a cod or bf since the first modern warfare on 360)

    I’m having a great time with this especially having come off Ghost Recon Breakpoint. The slower more tactical style suits me compared to other COD titles. Runs well and no serious bugs so far. Can’t believe I’m saying this but good work Activision.

    Best CoD in years! People giving it low scores are just haters and have nothing better to do than spam metacritic with bad scores. Fun gunplay, audio is superb, time to kill is spot on and graphics are amazing. Campaign is dark and gritty like it should be, multiplayer is the best in years and Spec ops is fun and more added value for you dollar. I highly recommend the game.

    Campain is good for what it is. The game truly shines in the multiplayer aspect, which is some of the best COD multiplayer in years. The game had a rough launch but a lot of issues have been fixed. Highly recommend.

    Wow!!!! Look at all the HATE (neg reviews) for this game. . . . and it all seems so political. I just love the game so far. The campaign, graphics, multiplayer all seem off the charts good. This is one of the best COD games ever. Never mix politics and gaming kids.

This game is not your typical call of duty game. Both in gameplay and in story. This game probably has the most controversial story ever. And it shows when you see the opening cutscene when the suicide bomber comes out of the van. Then comes a story about trying to get white phosphorus out of the hands of terrorists. From what I’ve played so far the game plays smoothly, though I couldn’t play multiplayer. The only problems I noticed was that I couldn’t start the campaign when I first loaded the game because it said I needed campaign pack 2 despite having it installed. My Xbox also crashed the first time playing campaign. Then, a few times while playing I got signed out of my Xbox halfway through missions.… Expand

This a great cod Game from the campaign to the multiplayer (Although spec-ops is a little off) don't allow the review's claiming this game is anti-russian propaganda fool you because it's not. Not only are there real world examples of the Russian military acting like this in Afghanistan in Afghanistan in the 80's and syria+Ukraine today but it actually does show western forces in a morally grey light there's a scene where it depicts the US marines calling in a white phosphorus strike on a russian military base full of mercs and the sas using a terrorists wife and child as leverage to get information out of him by threatening to shoot him there's also a scene where us backed rebel's use chlorine gas on Russian soldiers . In response to a previous review the sas aren't shown to be idiots either if you actually bothered to listen to Sargent Garrick instead of foaming at the mouth when your precious russian armed forces were shown in a negative light he states his unit had a plethora of actionable intel on the terrorists plans but wasn't allowed to do anything about it which is actually on point because if you actually bothered to take an interest in the internal affairs of other countries for once you'd know that the met police knew about most of the people involved in all the terrorists we've had in our country recently but didn't do anything about them before they actually carried out their plans. Finally for the people complaining about politics in video games war is inherently political if you don't like politics in video games you shouldn't be playing a military shooter now if any ruskies or Putin butt kissers want to be put in their place by me further they can message my gt Americawon1990. Now onto the multiplayer it's really fun the people complaining about the ttk and the movement are younger cod fans who are struggling to adapt to the fact that you actually have to think about how you approach an engagement now instead of just rushing into a room like you're a chicken with it's head cut off the vehicle combat is super fun I just wish there was more variety in the types of vehicles that are in the game the maps are really good more like the ones in the original modern warfare trilogy and black ops 1 and 2. So that's my review but as a closing statement I recommend you play the campaign on realism difficulty it's essentially veteran but without the hud including the nametags for friendlies requiring to actually acquire your targets before you fire it adds an extra layer of immersion to an already immersive game it also makes it so you're a one shot kill from a headshot making the house clearing sections all the more tense as you're rounding a corner while aiming down your sights in case there's a terrorist waiting on the other side all in all a return to form and I'm excited for a potential sequel. 10/10… Expand

    Haven't played any of the single player yet. The multiplayer is amazing and feels really good. The new graphics look amazing. Guns can really feel different depending on what you put on them. The maps go back to feeling like MW2 maps, with lots of different levels and spots for snipers to snipe from. Has to be my favorite Call of Duty in 10 years.

    Call of Duty: Modern Warfare serves up the freshest take on a stale formula in years, with a new engine and revitalised multiplayer mode that takes full advantage of a finely-tuned weapon customisation system and some welcome changes to ballistic mechanics. While Spec Ops fails to deliver much long-term attraction, the story mode proves there’s plenty of justification for a narrative element in a modern shooter. Free maps and updates bring everyone onto the same page in multiplayer, but Infinity Ward's take on the battle pass template still needs some work.
