They claim it is next-gen yet it isn't much different from the first Modern Warfare. The singleplayer story is okay as usual but the MP doesn't add anything new to the FPS genre and the dogs are unnecessary.Just the annual cash grab I guess. It's almost worth it for the new zombie mode co-op if you want to have fun with a friend or 2.

It's the same damn game every single year. Crowded tiny maps. No recoil. 3-4 hits to kill. Melee is stronger than bullets (one hit knife kill). Ridiculous campaign that belongs in a cheesy movie. LAST GEN graphics. This game attracts braindead teenagers, lonely old men, and miserable men who neglect their families.

So many people complain about call of duty's graphics compared to battlefield 4. well heres the thing i was delightfully surprised by COD's graphics and disappointed by battlefields. Not saying COD had better but i was expecting less from COD and the world from battlefield and when battlefield couldn't meet the task it was disappointing and when you are in space on call of duty its absolutely beautiful. Because call of duty is such a well rounded game this year I'm giving it a 9/10 no its not perfect but i enjoyed all parts of it where in battlefield the multiplayer wasn't perfect and the single player was far far from it. Multilayer... silky smooth graphics and 60 fps does go down ever so well. Decent maps, invariably there are a couple of stinkers, Siege in particular, but also a few beauties like Octane. I think the character customisation was over played here, somewhat disappointed by it with limited options especially in the early stages. No theatre mode is also a thumbs down. Ranking up also takes forever and a day and is a little frustrating too. The graphics are great, but by no means the best of the best. Best call of duty ever? No. But saying that, this game has been beaten up badly by reviewers and this is undeserved. Don't expect to stay alive very long until you have your wits about you, without question the quickest time to die from the last 4 COD's in Multilayer. Spawning is a bit all over the place at times too.

One of the biggest and most noticable improvements is that I have expereinced almost no lag and I don't think I've ever had trouble getting into a lobby once, which cannot be said of my BF4 experience so far. The pick ten system is back and does seem to work really well. Nicely balance and nothing is extremely overpowered in my opinion but there certainly some guns that handle better than others. The field orders offer a nice little twist to game play however these devil-some blue briefcases are somewhat watched by the casual camper or sniper so are fraught with danger in collection them on occasion. The stand out diamond in the crown is the map Stonehaven, it looks amazing, however in terms of playing it is sometimes becomes a needle in the haystack looking for someone to kill or being frustratingly being sniped from the back of beyond. The game play itself is incredibly smooth and beautiful to play. It really is great.

There is work to be done here though, this game has brought little to none innovation if you dismiss squads and extinction. But having said all of this, it's a must have purchase for the FPS genre.

It offers a lot to do with the campaign, multiplayer, squads and extinction as well as a horde of game modes within each hub. The graphics are good and the new player animations are great. I like the new weapons and i love the new create a soldier. The fact that they allowed gender to be picked by the user is a thumb up to the often overlooked female gamer too.

The game runs smooth as silk on the Xbox one with no noticeable lag or framerate issues. Just to note that i have played the 360 version which suffered both of those issues among others.

But as we all know the CoD series is primarily focused on multiplayer, a mode which is usually done so well. I mean a few people grabbing guns, running around a map and knocking the snot out of each other, how bad could that be messed with? Apparently pretty bad; most maps are oversized for a 6-6 battle, making you lost and lonely for the entirety or simple sniper fodder. Some of the killstreaks are overpowered (dogs anyone?) but the single biggest error, the biggest gamebreaker is the spawning. To die in multiplayer and respawn on the opposite side of the map from your allies with enemy guns already tracking you is not fun nor is having an enemy you (or anyone else for that matter) just vanquished spawn behind you. Its made especially worse if both problems happen together and they will. Repeatedly.

I want to love this game and with a little more polish and thought from IW, it could be salvaged. Its still addictive enough to play but frustrating enough to break controllers and make live party friends deaf. All in all underwhelming.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. There are a ton of trolls out there.. it's ridiculous!

The campaign is actually pretty decent. It's very much like every other COD game out there, play through the campaign once on Veteran to get the full experience and challenge, then go back on Recruit to get the special achievements. On veteran, this was actually much easier than previous COD games. Why? Because the GRAPHICS are so much better on next-gen that you can actually see those hidden enemies that are blasting you away. I know what you're thinking, native 1080p res, blah blah blah. Just shut up and acknowledge that the game looks better than it ever has, and stop trying to nitpick. A solid experience you'd expect from COD.

The multiplayer is more of the same, except now it's a strange combination of using a point system (squad points) and leveling up to unlock some things' availability. Personally, I bought it for multiplayer like most people, but I don't have any intention of putting the same time into it (since I'm not in college anymore lol). I just wanted a game to pick up casually when I actually have time, and this is perfect for that.

Squads is a actually a cool feature, but a bit hokey in my opinion. You can play your squad members in multiplayer to level them up and while playing squads, the higher level members actually do perform better in terms of kills, not running up the middle, etc. So basically, the AI is ranked along with the character rank. Cool, yes, but I don't expect to spend much time here.

Extinction is the best game mode on here. I had a lot of fun with it. Much like zombies, but not as confusing and impossible to figure out how to beat (without the internet!). The only problem is that it's very much based on teamwork, and it gets MUCH more challenging as you level up. I only came close to beating it twice (died trying to escape!) and now I'm "prestige" so the likelihood of finding a skilled team is so low, I'm afraid I just won't ever see the ending. I have juggled with the idea of buying the season pass just for the new extinction games.

Overall, exactly what you're expecting from next-gen COD. Is the franchise getting stale? Yes, Is it still fun? Yes. For now. Which is why I still recommend it with an 8/10.

I do not think that this game deserves a 10, but I need to balance it out. This game is Call Of Duty, if you liked the other games, you'll like Ghosts. If you didn't like the other games, shut your whore mouth and go complain to EA about the same old Madden, the same old Fifa, or complain to 2K about the same old NBA.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The internet has a metaphorical stick up its butt when it comes to COD, but hating on this game, Ghosts, because it's part of a series (one of the most successful) is illogical. I don't understand how a gamer could rate this game below a 6 if they are honest and unbiased with themselves and the game itself.

Campaign: The campaign, although relatively formulaic, linear, and standard for an FPS, was entertaining, thrilling, and at moments breath-taking. I know that sounds like hyperbole, but Infinity-Ward delivered in some key moments. *SPOILERS AHEAD* There were several memorable parts where I was legitimately surprised at what was happening on screen, most notably was the level where you're in a city in a valley and a dam is destroyed to flood you out. You can watch the missiles hit the dam, destroy it over a mile away and watch the water rush into the city towards you, if you don't move off the main street, you can literally watch the water approach until you get washed away. Later in the level you are crouching below the surface of a flooded city and stealth killing soldiers from underneath. The stealth mission inside the Federation capital is also awesome. And the KEM strikes which decimate LA in the first mission were also pretty jaw-dropping.

Multi-player: If you don't enjoy twitch-reaction arcade shooters, then this game isn't for you. But as far as twitch-reaction shooters go, this is the best one out there. The game is fair and very well-balanced. There is a counter for every single set up. Is the other team running 4 snipers? There's a whole new class of semi-auto weapons "Marksman Rifles" that have quicker ADS (Aim Down Sight) times and higher rates of fire than snipers, which if used correctly, can flush snipers out of any area. The Support kill-streak reward system allows for beginners to play a more supportive/conservative role and yet still offer significant benefits to your team in any gametype because your streak persists after death.

The maps are generally larger than COD maps have been in the past, especially Black Ops 2. This is opens up the field of loadouts that you see people running. AR's are the "go-to" guns, but they can be out-classed by SMG's, if the SMG's stick to corners and stay out of long sight lines, and snipers and marksman rifles, if you stay at range and hold down choke points and critical regions of the maps. Shotguns seem to be serve few functions except on the smaller maps, (which I personally have no problem with). The spawn logic also seems to have a few issues. You may notice getting killed and then spawning very near to the player who just killed you.

Overall, the game is very fair and balanced, and rewards teamwork and communication very well, as it should. You might see a person "go-off" in a TDM game and think Ghosts and COD is all lone-wolf, but that is definitely not the case.

Graphics: The graphics are excellent (I've played the 360 and Xbone versions). The detail and design in the levels is superb, and the lighting effects in the Xbone version are awesome. The surfaces and textures do not react to light as well as would be liked, but they are still visually appealing. It's not the best looking game, and I was never jaw-droppingly "wow-ed" at the graphics, but I still consider them excellent. The visuals are overall, very consistent, and therefore allow you to "get into" the game world and almost never lose immersion.

Call of Duty has become a bit of a stale franchise, and it was with Ghosts that the typicality of the series would be altered and the franchise brought into new territory. Still, with every "been there, done that" moment you'll find, there's the unshakable notion that this is the Call of Duty that we've known for years reaching its absolute peak. The multiplayer is perhaps the most balanced and well thought out of the franchise. The levels are some of the best, and largest in number & variety, ever conceived. The customization is so much deeper than ever before. However, as a launch title for all next-generation platforms, Call of Duty doesn't really earn the moniker "next-gen". As Infinity Ward's Executive Producer Mark Rubin let on to in a recent interview, the true next-gen CoD experience is still to come. Lets hope that Ghosts is the pinnacle of what was and that what is to come is every bit as glorious as CoD4: Modern Warfare was when it hit our now previous-generation consoles. Expand

Another you are scuba diving and being stealthy. Works well and keeps you interested.

It's clear that Infinity Ward is a bit lost on where to take this game. It offers no increase in scale, no new vehicular combat, an obviously-dated graphics engine that barely offers HD content (in 720p), inconsistent connectivity (at times anyways), and another campaign and story that try to be big and apocalyptic yet feel a bit ho-hum. Lets face it, Modern Warfare and MW2 were the pinnacle of Call of Duty. Since then, it's been the same game trading releases between two development studios. Perhaps it's time to get some fresh blood in the house. I heard that this game was a bit rushed and that IW didn't have time to properly drop a next-gen title for launch. If that's so, there may be hope for this franchise. Ghosts can be fun, but it only stands out at all amidst a group of new games on a new console because it feels familiar when other titles can be a bit foreign or jarring at times. The campaign is laughable and unimaginative. The multiplayer is the same warmed over, regurgitated garbage Activision has been selling for years.

Infinity Ward has lost capacity, it's out of ideas. Call of Duty: Ghosts is the same blast of scripts in single-player and the conventional formula in multiplayer. That's all. Fun and addictive as always, this game is silent in your Call of Duty collection, it leaves no trace.

Call of Duty: Ghosts is a mess of a game. That’s not to say that it’s nonfunctional or bad to play, rather, it loses sight of its core principles and eschews an amazing opportunity with the advent of our transition to next-gen, as well as being the first true IW CoD sans Zampella and West, through poorly constructed (and utilised) tech, half-assed delivery of modes and a single-player campaign that sets the series back more than a few years.
