A true launch title, clearly just a port of the 360 version. The graphics look last gen compared to the other launch games and the gameplay is the same as always. COD has been getting stale for years now, and this edition is no exception.

Multilayer... silky smooth graphics and 60 fps does go down ever so well. Decent maps, invariably there are a couple of stinkers, Siege in particular, but also a few beauties like Octane. I think the character customisation was over played here, somewhat disappointed by it with limited options especially in the early stages. No theatre mode is also a thumbs down. Ranking up also takes forever and a day and is a little frustrating too. The graphics are great, but by no means the best of the best. Best call of duty ever? No. But saying that, this game has been beaten up badly by reviewers and this is undeserved. Don't expect to stay alive very long until you have your wits about you, without question the quickest time to die from the last 4 COD's in Multilayer. Spawning is a bit all over the place at times too.

One of the biggest and most noticable improvements is that I have expereinced almost no lag and I don't think I've ever had trouble getting into a lobby once, which cannot be said of my BF4 experience so far. The pick ten system is back and does seem to work really well. Nicely balance and nothing is extremely overpowered in my opinion but there certainly some guns that handle better than others. The field orders offer a nice little twist to game play however these devil-some blue briefcases are somewhat watched by the casual camper or sniper so are fraught with danger in collection them on occasion. The stand out diamond in the crown is the map Stonehaven, it looks amazing, however in terms of playing it is sometimes becomes a needle in the haystack looking for someone to kill or being frustratingly being sniped from the back of beyond. The game play itself is incredibly smooth and beautiful to play. It really is great.

There is work to be done here though, this game has brought little to none innovation if you dismiss squads and extinction. But having said all of this, it's a must have purchase for the FPS genre.

It offers a lot to do with the campaign, multiplayer, squads and extinction as well as a horde of game modes within each hub. The graphics are good and the new player animations are great. I like the new weapons and i love the new create a soldier. The fact that they allowed gender to be picked by the user is a thumb up to the often overlooked female gamer too.

The game runs smooth as silk on the Xbox one with no noticeable lag or framerate issues. Just to note that i have played the 360 version which suffered both of those issues among others.

But as we all know the CoD series is primarily focused on multiplayer, a mode which is usually done so well. I mean a few people grabbing guns, running around a map and knocking the snot out of each other, how bad could that be messed with? Apparently pretty bad; most maps are oversized for a 6-6 battle, making you lost and lonely for the entirety or simple sniper fodder. Some of the killstreaks are overpowered (dogs anyone?) but the single biggest error, the biggest gamebreaker is the spawning. To die in multiplayer and respawn on the opposite side of the map from your allies with enemy guns already tracking you is not fun nor is having an enemy you (or anyone else for that matter) just vanquished spawn behind you. Its made especially worse if both problems happen together and they will. Repeatedly.

I want to love this game and with a little more polish and thought from IW, it could be salvaged. Its still addictive enough to play but frustrating enough to break controllers and make live party friends deaf. All in all underwhelming.

Call of Duty has become a bit of a stale franchise, and it was with Ghosts that the typicality of the series would be altered and the franchise brought into new territory. Still, with every "been there, done that" moment you'll find, there's the unshakable notion that this is the Call of Duty that we've known for years reaching its absolute peak. The multiplayer is perhaps the most balanced and well thought out of the franchise. The levels are some of the best, and largest in number & variety, ever conceived. The customization is so much deeper than ever before. However, as a launch title for all next-generation platforms, Call of Duty doesn't really earn the moniker "next-gen". As Infinity Ward's Executive Producer Mark Rubin let on to in a recent interview, the true next-gen CoD experience is still to come. Lets hope that Ghosts is the pinnacle of what was and that what is to come is every bit as glorious as CoD4: Modern Warfare was when it hit our now previous-generation consoles. Expand

This game excellent for those who hate change. If you enjoyed literally any other Call of Duty game in the past you will find something to like about this one.

Meh, nothing new from the xbox 360 version. Pretty pointless buy for your xbox one. Not a bad game, but you know what you're getting with COD. I doubt these reviews even matter for 90% of COD players. If it was a life or death decision between this and BF4 on the xbox one, I would take BF4 ten times out of ten.

It's clear that Infinity Ward is a bit lost on where to take this game. It offers no increase in scale, no new vehicular combat, an obviously-dated graphics engine that barely offers HD content (in 720p), inconsistent connectivity (at times anyways), and another campaign and story that try to be big and apocalyptic yet feel a bit ho-hum. Lets face it, Modern Warfare and MW2 were the pinnacle of Call of Duty. Since then, it's been the same game trading releases between two development studios. Perhaps it's time to get some fresh blood in the house. I heard that this game was a bit rushed and that IW didn't have time to properly drop a next-gen title for launch. If that's so, there may be hope for this franchise. Ghosts can be fun, but it only stands out at all amidst a group of new games on a new console because it feels familiar when other titles can be a bit foreign or jarring at times. I do feel that the series is starting to feel a little stagnant, a few new weapons and some new maps do not warrant a new game, these could be added to one of the previous games as DLC. Instead of just rehashing the same game every year please just expand the previous versions with new content. Alternatively bring us something new, how about a Call of Duty game based on the Vietnam War, or even the First World War? How about updating the game engine so that environments can be damaged after taking fire? Why not add some more interesting long term multiplayer game types instead of the novelty modes added in Ghosts.

I understand the story element of the Call of Duty games is important to some people but the story line in Ghosts feels rushed and tacked on. It can easily be completed on the hardest difficulty setting in one day so doest really add much to the package. The story lines in the older Call of Duty games had some substance, it seems now the developers simply do not put in the time when it comes to the single player campaign.

I do however like the new co-op mode which is similar to the Zombies mode in Black Ops. Extinction put you and your team in the middle of an Alien invasion where your goal is to survive as long as you can. This mode can be be great fun and offers a little variety in what is ultimately quite a dull package.

If you are a fan of Call of Duty then you will enjoy Ghosts for a while but you will find yourself getting bored very quickly. There is simply not enough that is different from the previous games. It feels like the series has turned from one of the best series of games available in to a stagnant but guaranteed yearly income for the developers.

If you own any other COD game then you simply will not get anything new out of Ghosts.

This game is to console games what the Avengers or Iron Man are to movies: big budget, sequel driven entertainment but not a whole lot of originality or depth. Again, not a criticism but merely an observation. Nothing wrong with liking art house films AND big budget FX films. Same is true for gaming and while this game breaks nothing in the way of new ground it's still good fun. I haven't played through the entire single player campaign yet (I have a life) but so for it's typical over-the-top bordering on science fiction story telling that can't be taken too seriously. The graphics are amazing, the game play is typical "run down the hall and shoot everything in front of you" stuff. Haven't tried MP yet because obviously there are not a lot of people out there yet and I've only had my One for a few days now and have 5 other titles I wanted to try out. In my opinion COD:BO2 was a better game, smaller maps, 10 point system and guns being a lot more diverse than COD:G. Not to say COD:G doesn't have bright spots. I enjoy guns coming with attachment already, some of the perks I like (not revealing where dead friends are, showing enemies for a split second effected by explosives).

Overall, CoD: Ghosts is still a fun, run n' gun arcade shooter like any other Call of Duty game. Unfortunately, Infinity Ward overhyped the game by calling a few minor tweaks innovation. While Ghosts will still have pretty massive sale numbers, Infinity Ward is going to have to make some real changes to freshen CoD's stale formula or else this series as a whole won't be around for much longer.

Call of Duty: Ghosts offers nothing new to the increasingly homogenized modern warfare shooter genre that is the standard for today. Played Modern Warfare 2? Good. You do not need to play Ghosts. I'm going to break it down into 3 subjects: Campaign, Multiplayer, and Extinction.

Campaign: Absolutely pathetic. The setting jumps around the world every mission with no reason or cohesion.

You start out in Outer Space. Bing! Now you're in San Diego. Bing! Now you're in South America. Bing! Now you're in the Antarctic Ocean. Bing! You're back in space. The story is about 2 brothers and their dad, belonging to an elite commando unit called the Ghosts. I don't remember any of their names because that's how poor the characters are. The campaign is shallow, and meaningless. Don't bother
Multiplayer: They really tried with this one. Ghosts follows the same twitch shooter mechanics as its predecessors have. Unfortunately, many of the components such as Perks, Gun Attachments, and kill-streaks are unnecessarily complex and confusing. you unlock things through an equally confusing currency system, akin to Black Ops 1. This Xbone version suffers from framerate drops on some of the maps, and it just looks ugly. I can only recommend this if you REALLY love Call of Duty. If you don't, you'll be fine playing Modern Warfare or Black Ops.
Extinction: It's a pretty cool idea, but like the multiplayer, it is overly complex when it doesn't need to be. People love Nazi Zombies because it is only as complex as it needs to be. You can delve into the more complex stuff if you want, but if you just want to blast some zombies, you can do that too. However, Extinction also has its own economy relying on points, and there are weird objectives and strange objects in the environment that don't need to exist. It's a shame, really. Extinction is fun for a bit, but lacks the lasting value of Nazi Zombies.

In conclusion: This is NOT the next-gen call of duty experience. It is simply a mediocre game at best. I only recommend it if you find it at the bottom of the bargain bin at Best Buy.

Call of Duty: Ghost keeps with most of what you would expect, delivering a solid campaign and the same Multiplayer component the series is know for, as for the campaign it's easily the weakest, now that doesn't necessarily mean it's bad considering how strong the campaign's of previous instalments are, suffering from weak voice acting from some of the actors and at times a poorly written script. Graphicly the series is at it's weakest, barley holding up to it's Next-Gen counter part, showing the need for a truly Next-Gen games engine from Activision, the textures and facial animations are laughable Current-Gen, though the lighting and water effects were impressive. Multiplayer is the same COD experience you always expect and adds little to the current formula the series is know for, as of now the series is in dire need of innovation and if the next instalment doesn't hint to any, I'm afraid the series may lose it's crown to the every evolving Battlefield series. Ghost is another Great COD game, that sticks to closely to it's know formula without ever feeling the need to forward the series. Expand

The story, for the first time, didn't get my attention. The main villains have no motivations to be evil. They hate the USA, wants to kill everyone and that's it. The evil country this time is Venezuela, most specifically, the whole South America turns against the "real" America. The enemies, just like the whole story, is badly introduced and developed. The message of the game is clear: "don't mess with the US. If you mess with us, we'll **** you up".
They even tried to add a familiar lace to the plot, which doesn't work, since the main character is, once again, a mute character with no face or personality whatsoever. The ending gives away a possible sequel hint, which is very courageous of Ghosts, since the game didn't get a good reception.
Plus, one of the only female characters in the whole franchise dies within 2 minutes of her appearance.

The multiplayer also seems out of order. Sometimes, you die with 2, 5 or more shots. The guns and customization system doesn't work properly, and it bores you quickly.

Lastly, Extinction mode is a Infinity Ward recreation of the popular Zombie Mode made by Treyarch. It is fun, but it doesn't reach the level of Treyarch.

To sum it up, even in its 10th birthday, Call of Duty didn't seem to care about a decent game. The result is a mediocre game disguised as a blockbuster. If Advanced Warfare doesn't add anything new to the series, Activision shall bury Call of Duty, just like they did with Guitar Hero and Tony Hawk.

The game chat is also buggy and is very frustrating, your friends can sound like they are far away and sometimes they cant even hear you. Im not sure if its a xbox one thing but when you unplug your mic, you get kicked out of the game because it thinks you are not in "game chat". This might not be the same for all people, but I encountered these in my experience. It is still playable and still feels like any other Call of Duty game, but there are issues that need to be addressed. Expand

I didn't think it was all that bad, but then again, it wasn't all that good. I was really surprised by how lackluster the single player campaign was (each mission is really short) after hearing how they hired an actual writer to flesh out a story and by how horribly linear it is. I won't go into the story but if I was the writer, I wouldn't put it on my resume. It's decent but I expected more from a working "writer". I was also surprised by how narrow and linear the actual campaign was. Instead of taking a cue from Treyarch's Blops 2 and adding some choice and more "open" evironments, many of the levels literally feel like you're walking through a hallway, even when your outdoors. I know the series is known for scripted moments, but this one feels like the first scripted campaign, from start to finish. Its not a bad campaign, it's actually enjoyable has some cool set piece moments, it just feels too constrained and controlled. There's a lot of areas where I would think "Ooh, I'll hop over this log and... ah, invisible wall". It has a lot of rehashed moments and ideas from previous CoD games as well. It's not bad, but it doesn't take the series forward. At all.

I haven't played CoD multiplayer since MW2 (a regular hack-fest) and from the few rounds I tried here, it didn't seem terribly different. I honestly don't know or care when it comes to this game mode, run and gun, grind for leaderboard positions that don't mean anything.

Ghosts has several co-op options that are fun, my only complaint being that you always start with a pistol and have to grab better weapons. It's a variation on zombies (especially Extinction) and I'd prefer weapon unlocks, but that's just me. Its fun and fast and CoD-ish. You can also play offline and solo in any mode if you are so inclined.

The graphics are actually really good considering the engine these games run on. Granted, CoD is playing catchup in the graphical department, but overall this game is a big step forward for the series visuals.

As an Xbox One owner, my shooter choices right now are CoD Ghosts, BF4 and Titanfall (I'm not counting PvZ, sorry), and seeing as how this game offers more that one mode, online and off, it allows me to play what I want, how I want. It's not a next gen game, its a current gen game on a next gen console. Btw, I enjoyed the CoD dev talking excitedly about how CoD now has normal mapped bricks lol. That technology's only been around since Gears 1. Maybe earlier. Anyways, for a One owner, this is a better choice with more content for the money. In my opinion. Nothing exceptional, but at least it has some options

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. CoD is an amzing franchise. i love the campaign, but the multiplayer didnt really excite me. it felt as if it was repetitve. OP prestige kills me every 5 seconds. as for extinction is SOOO unrealistic you might as well have Pink narwhals shooting rainbows out of their horns while saying "fishstick". i do not HATE CoD ghosts, but it does have some flaws like all games. its good enough to last players another year until the next game comes out. the campaign is espiacialy good as for the end(!!!!SPOILERALERT!!!!) had a HUUUGE twist. who could have guessed Rorke didnt die, turns you into a ghost hunter? nobody i know! overall CoD Ghosts is a great game but it does have its flaws. This is a Multiplayer Review. Call of Duty: Ghosts is unique in its own way but very similar in terms of gameplay like its predecessors. I personally did not appreciate how this game has retained plenty of similarities that could possibly be changed to make this game stand out from the rest of the franchise. I'll start out with basic Multiplayer Gameplay.

Just as expected, gameplay hasn't changed to much since the other Call of Duty games. New game modes add for a variety of different play styles. I personally love Search and Rescue but hate Search and Destroy. It is this kind of example that I am talking about that making a small change to a game can make it enjoyable for others. I will admit, the only reason I bought this game was to mess around with the new "Create a Soldier" customization. It is by far, the best customization gimmick I've seen in the Call of Duty franchise, adding a whole new way to play. Ranging from aggressive rushing, to camping and to capping objectives in Domination. Call of Duty isn't only about its gameplay but also about how you set up your loadouts to play with a tactical advantage. 90% of the guns are well balanced. I will let you know that those who use the Vector sub-machine gun may have a considerable advantage against you, as its killing range is lethal to a degree where it may as well be considered an Assault Rifle.

We all know that Graphics can make for a more appealing game but they aren't completely necessary. Call of Duty: Ghosts plays at 720p on the Xbox One as opposed to 1080p on the Playstation 4, but don't let that stop you from purchasing this game for the Xbox One. You will not improve your playstyle at all by switching to a console that has better resolution. More importantly, enjoy the game for the content it contains rather than the graphics it came with. If you're a graphic junkie, please purchase a desktop (and not a laptop) to play this game on. Otherwise, read on.

If you ever end up getting pissed off or annoyed with the game, do NOT blame the content or any problems you think the game might have. Remember, you are playing MULTIPLAYER and players can and will annoy you with their strategies. My suggestion: If you get killed in a very ridiculous way but don't know why, please take the time to watch the kill cam instead of feeling humiliated that you got killed by someone who is having a day. You may be surprised at how lucky they might be. I will admit, some people play to seriously but you pay to play and that's what you get. Better enjoy the best parts!

Would I recommend you purchase this game? Yes, but I do suggest you buy a used copy to save a little money since it is Call of Duty after all. Not much has changed but it's significant enough to at least be worth 35$.

The only thing about online that I don't like about online is that there are micro transactions. They're mostly cosmetic but you need to pay extra money to have ten custom class slots on your person. Yes, you're only given six, unlike past Call of Duties. The other mode, "Extinction," is basically Infinity Ward's version of Treyarch's zombies, except they use aliens. This mode is nothing special: just survive waves of aliens, it's meh. The things I really do enjoy about this game are the visuals and the environment. Each mission has a unique setting that is great to explore, same with the multiplayer maps. Some of the maps are simply amazing but there are a few that are dull and just plain bad. Ghosts is a good addition to the franchise and is better than the popular opinion of being awful. Expand

Call of Duty Ghosts has good parts and bad parts. The Campaign was really enjoyable (If i was scoring just the campaign i would give it a 8.5/10). The Multiplayer had some okay maps but was nothing exciting and the new mode extinction i hated, Zombies would have been much better.

The mutliplayer is alright, some of the maps are a bit too large and ends up becoming a walking/running simulator for most of the time. But overall there's nothing incredibly special compared to other multiplayer modes from the previous (and future) installments.

And the new Extinction Mode (which replaced Zombies) just doesn't feel that good. Its a interesting idea to diverge from the zombies idea to something else (in this case Aliens.) But I feel like it just missed the mark overall.

Finally, I feel like the game didn't fully take advantage of the new generation either. Just being used as an excuse as why the game under-performed players expectations if anything. Overall, the game is pretty disappointing and started the downfall of the franchise in my opinion.

Call of Duty: Ghosts is a mess of a game. That’s not to say that it’s nonfunctional or bad to play, rather, it loses sight of its core principles and eschews an amazing opportunity with the advent of our transition to next-gen, as well as being the first true IW CoD sans Zampella and West, through poorly constructed (and utilised) tech, half-assed delivery of modes and a single-player campaign that sets the series back more than a few years.
