Graphically there is can be no argument - the level of detail is much higher. The gameplay is much more refined, requiring high skill to truly appreciate the nuances that separate a good player from a great player.

The single player campaign is deep, maybe too deep. I can see how the average gamer may get lost or confused with the story. They would have been better off making a simpler easy-to-follow story - it is a game after all.

This game is also packed with tons of extras. The zombie mode is great and would be justifiable as a stand-alone product by itself. There is a combat simulator that is somewhat hidden in the campaign that is a blast to play. The Free Run mode will have players obsessing about finding ways to shave off seconds from each run - expect to see tons of YouTube videos.

The thrust and wall-running mechanics are an improvement over the Advanced Warfare mechanics. While helpful for traversal the game is not as much of a skeet shooter as AW was.

Multiplayer is not friendly to new or even moderately skilled COD players. Expect to die early and often in multiplayer unless you are a dedicated FPS player. I would expect some skill based matchmaking but it appears entirely random with 1 or 2 highly skilled players annihilating everyone else. There is a tier based arena mode but I have yet to try it.

COD is not Battlefield. I tried Battlefield and didn't like it. It's not better or worse, just not my cup of tea. COD is more nuanced and finely tuned than Battlefield and is a great stage for really intense competitive play.

Call of Duty: Black Ops III is one of those games I'll be playing for the next decade. I don't see myself going back to Advanced Warfare that much - I actually preferred Ghosts to AW.

Unfortunately this is heading in the direction of Ghosts (which was the worst incarnation of CoD yet). The Campaign is ok but a lot of people prefer to not play co-op. Why should a solo-player have to have a different experience from those that have friends and can do co-op. Zombies is the same fare as usual which is fine. No problems there. The multiplayer is downright sub-par.

1 - The maps are average at best. to many are too large. Short range weapons are mostly irrelevant. There are more camping corner spots than in any other CoD. Also, not a lot of maps to choose from.
2 - The gun selection is also average. There doesn't seem to be much difference between them. Sure there are differences but as compared with other CoDs (even Ghosts) it doesn't seem to matter which weapon you use.
3 - Environments are pretty but the character animations seem like last-gen. Also, everything seems a bit laggy. Its definitely not my connection as I can play 4 different online games in a day and this is the only one that is laggy.
I'm a fan of CoD and have played every one. MW2 was my favorite. BO and BO2 were awesome. I even thought AW was pretty good. Unfortunately I think this one will go down as a terrible entry. The only reason I didn't score it lower is that there is always the chance that it might grow on me...especially after some DLC. We'll see. I pray the next CoD goes back to some original formulas.

Another year, another call of duty game. Now before you sigh or scoff at that statement, let me say this. Yes it's a call of duty game one of the most popular and hated series of all time. But here is the thing... It's actually pretty good. I've been with cod ever since the beginning and the series has changed a lot while still remaining the same. It's a paradox it feels new and inventive in some places but it still feels like it's stuck in the past. Despite that statement it actually is a very fun game and I had a blast with it and it's one of the best games in the series.

Story: ok here is where I had the biggest complaint. The story is very weird and crazy even for cod standards. There are twists and slit of surreal stuff that I won't spoil but for me the story was just all over the damn place. Playing through the campaign is still fun at times because it is the most in depth campaign cod has ever done. You can make a character, customize said character and outfit them with all sorts of guns and even cyber core abilities that you can activate once a meter fills up. I got to say the cyber core abilities are some of the best fun I've ever had with a cod campaign. There are plenty of different abilities like summoning nanobots to assault your enemies or taking control of robots and drones. It really let's you play the way you want. Even though the story will probably confuse the hell out of you it's interesting to say the least and the solid gameplay and action will keep you going though towards the end it tends to drag but if you want the whole story you'll have to do some research, that is if you want a full understanding of the confusingly bizarre story. Overall it was fun at times and enough to keep me going through. Also when you beat the main campaign you get a bonus second campaign but with a zombie spin on the same campaign missions. It's pretty cool and I'm glad it is there. I hope other developers of this series implement bonus campaigns it's a huge bonus.

Zombies: As with the rest of treyarch's cod games zombies makes a return and it's glorious. Taking place in the 1940s morg city, four unlucky characters get to face off with the undead and some monsters that look like they came from the doom series. It's standard survival fare except way more vast and improved in every way. I'm going to be honest, I've never been good at zombies or finding the items you need to beat it but I can say it's very smart and you have to know what you are doing. That being said I haven't the faintest idea what to do but the more you play the more you'll understand. It's still a blast to play especially online with friends. Dead ops arcade is also back though I don't have a clue how to access it so I can't really say how good it is. Overall a great zombies offering that is always welcome.

Multiplayer: unlike myself, there are a lot of people who get these games solely for multiplayer or the aforementioned zombies. And I can see why Atleast for this iteration in the series. Black ops 3 multiplayer is fun as hell and the most vast mp offering the series has ever had. Players don't get to create their own character like previous games, they get to choose one of 9 specialists each with their two special abilities that can be unlocked. These abilities are great and fun to use and can really help less skillful players. You can customize your specialists by leveling up and there is always that incentive of wanting to unlock the next specialist or get points to unlock weapons and abilities. It's also nicely balanced each ability has it's advantages and disadvantages and knowing when to use them is key. The free running, wall running and boosting all feel smooth and control well. Running on a wall and jumping off to shoot someone is exhilarating. Everything about the multiplayer is done extremely well and I feel fans of black ops 2 will really enjoy this one.

    Verdict:
Call of duty black ops 3 offers a lot of content and maybe more in the season pass but even without that you are left with a very fun crazy and solid shooter that definitely moves cod as a series forward. The main reason I would say this game is a buy for me is the amount of content in this package. You get two campaigns, zombies, dead ops arcade, and multiplayer. It's impressive because no other cod had this much content. Black ops 3 is a wild ride and it's definitely one of my fav games in the Call of duty series. Well done treyarch.

You are probably saying, who gets Call of Duty for their campaign? Well, I do because Multiplayer is mostly trash. I love their storylines... most of them suck sadly... like this one.

The plot twist can be seen in the beginning of the campaign, horrible backstory, and it doesn't even fall in line with Black Ops 1 or 2 storyline. Treyarch should have renamed this a different name other than Black Ops 3... but let's face it, they are greedy for money and they knew having Black Ops in the title would sell more copies.

Exo Boosts? Where the hell is this feature in the campaign? It was not even in any of the 11 campaign missions that you played, but why is this ability in multiplayer though? Did they add it in at the last minute? The only Exo ability you have is wall running like in Titanfall.

Multiplayer? Horrible, everyone just jumps around like fish out of water just like in Advanced Warfare. And then, they are back at their greedy money aspect by adding COD Points to the game to buy in-game horrible skins for your weapons. Like why spend money are on a crap game? By buying these COD Points, you are just letting Activision know to implement this crap in other titles.

The only great thing about this game is the graphics and detail of characters. Other than that, Black Ops 3 is not worth the $60 or even $40 dollars to spend on this game. Thank God I did not spend any money on this game.

Campaign takes a good 9 hours to beat on hardened, and even more if you plan on playing on veteran. Realistic is damn near impossible since it's a one shot death, so that'll take a LOT of time.

Multiplayer is really fun. Most of the maps that were shipped with the game are really fun, from Combine, Hunted, Aquarium to Infection. The new leveling system in MP is way more complex, now making you rely on challenges to get most of your XP, since ranking up is really slow. The new supply drops are fun to earn, and you don't even need to buy them with real cash. All you have to do to earn SD's is play games and earn these things called "Cryptokeys" which are earned from playing and finishing games. Winning makes it easier to earn them, but you still get them from losing matches also.

Zombies is awesome, especially the map you get from the Digital Deluxe Edition, Juggernog Mini Fridge Edition to just buying the season pass, which is the Der Riese remake, "The Giant". Zombies has a new level progression system with prestiging, similar to Extinction in Ghosts, but way more rewarding. The map "Shadows of Evil" is great and adds for a fun time with friends.

Overall Black Ops 3 is one of the best CoDs I've played over the years. As I said before, if you played past CoDs and loved Black Ops 1 or 2 as much as I did, buy Black Ops 3. I give Black Ops 3 an 8/10.

Also. ignore the people who rated the game a 1 to a 4, as for those are just lonely trolls who live in their mothers basement.

The game really shines in it's multiplayer aspect. The guns are fun, and familiar enough to know what I want to use, but different enough to bring excitement in testing different setups. There are new game modes that are extremely fun. None of the guns feel super unbalanced. The only real qualms I have are that there are no dedicated servers, and that the maps look too good. The maps look so good, and are so detailed that it is hard to make out other players at times.

The game also includes Zombie mode, which is also incredibly fun, and includes more content than a lot of games alone these days.

Multiplayer to me is why I buy COD games. I love them and this year is no exception. Multiplayer is fun. The specialists is like a game changer with the special powers ( think Destiny). None of them are over powering and requires some skill to be good at them. The maps are fun and now you can swim in the water on multiplayer and shoot underwater too. Nothing is more satisfying than getting out of the water on unsuspecting foe and killing them. Water is more than just for looks. It is time though for cod to start having destuctable parts like Battlefield and vehicles again. But all in all this is my favorite COD since Blops2 and personally thinks it beats blops2. Very enjoyable.

CoD needs to go back to the basics with another World War or Vietnam entry. Hell, I'll even be cool with a Civil War CoD. The game puts on a futuristic theme, playing out about 50 years in our future, making use of abilities such as wall running, boost jumping, and "mental abilities". Fans of the series from the World at War or Modern Warfare days will be disappointed, as this game puts a mixed feeling of part Halo, part titanfall, part Advanced Warfare in a mash up that makes this once simple and straightforward game at times confusing, over able, controller mashing mess. With multilayer enemies fling around, and using over powered abilities, it strays too far from what call of duty used to be. Some may like the new way the series is going, how ever us who enjoyed what it was in the past will be disappointed in what it has become.
Zombies mode is back, however playing online has a few issues. First you may notice more than the max 4 players in a lobby at the time of the game starting. This will result in people getting kicked, leaving the game empty at times. Playing through the rounds you will often find the game shut down and kick you completely.
Issues are apparent in the campaign too. Going back to play previous missions after completing them once leaves players lacking abilities that are needed to complete the game, and game crashing issues leaving players angry and confused/
Some other features include free running mode, where players pass through an obstacle course of wall runs, jumps and slides. The emblem creator is back as well as a custom camo creator. Small additions to the game that most won't care much about.
Overall, this game is better than Advanced Warfare, however, it needs some repairs, and is too different for what some players may like.

    Campaign: 6/10 Fix the bugs.
Zombies: 7/10 Again, fix the issues.
Multilayer :7/10 Works well, but just too odd
Other Features: 7/10 Good, but forgetful.

    Overall: 27/40 (6.75/10)

The Plot is stupid, concluded, melodramatic, hard to follow, and just down right boring. The "characters" are so poorly written, and don't effect the plot whatsoever. Your "buddy Boy" Hendricks is the worst sidekick in FPS history. Overall, The Campaign is the worst part of the entire game. Don't play it. Zombies are back, but is much more sophisticated than Black Ops 2. with a improved leveling, stat, and gun system. However we have more uninteresting characters, 1 map, and boring online game play. Multiplayer is the only reason i gave this review a 4. Much better than AW's awful Multiplayer, but much worse than black ops 2's. Again We have an OP gun in every class, Like the VMP, KN44, 205 Brecci, P-06, and Dingo. The specialist system is a small breath of fresh air, but like the guns, its crystal clear some abilities and weapons are better than others. The Supply Drop system is back, and is a little better than AW's. We have Supply drop only weapons with a little bit better drop rates, but still its frustrating and an annoyance However all the small silver linings make a unpolished and difficult multiplayer experience. Servers are 100% improvement over Advanced Warfare, (I found myself waiting 20+ minutes AT LEAST to get a lobby big enough to start a match, or having to go to recent players & join in progress to even get in a game on AW, and even then I was getting a 2 bar connect at best when I have 150Mbps internet speed). With BOIII I get in, get a lobby, have a good connection. No muss, no fuss. Scorestreaks are an improvement over the lame ducks that were in Ghosts, Special abilities are a cool little extra. My main gripe is (as with ALL COD multiplayer) is that they have only 4 hardcore game modes, compared to 10 or 12 core modes. Bottom line, If you're a fan of the series, pick it up. If not, don't. First off, if you've rated this game lower than COD: Ghosts or COD: Advanced Warfare (also known as Call of House of Cards), remove your rating immediately, because you're doing anyone sane who doesn't already own the game a disservice.

There is no facet of the game in which BLOPS III is not superior to the other Call of Duties in the current rotational cycle, both because of what it has and what it doesn't have.

    What it has:

    1. An intriguing, lengthy and outside the box campaign. This is something Black Ops developers and writers are probably not used to, and for a first effort at such a frankly-Inception like story it is very intriguing. While this is possibly the only area in which AW competes with BLOPS III, and who doesn't like Kevin Spacey these days, the AW story became far too predictable and literally a House of Cards rip-off, so BLOPS III still wins.

    2. Nuketown. 'Nuff Said

    3. Local online multiplayer. Seriously people, look at the lobbies. At least 10-20% are (1). And the only reason it's that low is because people pay for Gold to be able to track their stats. Console gaming will ALWAYS be community-focused. So stop demanding split-screen go away, and code it better.

    4. Zombies, and a cool premise for it with the Noir theme at that.

    5. Free Run

    6. Intelligent map design, considering the game mechanics.

Perhaps more importantly, what it doesn't have:

    1. "LOOK AT ME TURBOBOOST DASH AVOID HEHEHEHEHE." Look kiddies, if you want to play a game that is completely unrealistic, play Halo or Titanfall. Getting rid of the thrust and Exo **** from AW was essential. Treyarch was completely right to ignore it. Call of Duty is a different style of game. We don't need vertical maps. We don't need jetpacks. Good, quality ground warfare is what a CoD should pride itself on achieving. I don't even hate the wallrunning. I'm not a fan of the dash slide, simply because aiming a gun successfully while doing that motion is nonsensical. But it's still much more rooted in the purpose and style of the game than AW was. We don't need Halo, Earth Edition.

    2. The nonsensical item system that was Ghosts. They tried to change up the mechanics. It failed. Hard. Pick 10, a Treyarch development, is the way to go, and it has been good.

    3. A development house who succumbed to the "local multiplayer is dead" fools. Rock Band just came back for christ sake people. Do you think people are playing that by themselves?

Black Ops 3 was a lofty goal for Treyarch that extended from the events of Black Ops 2, the only problem being that, unlike the origins of the Black Ops series, the third installment lacked some originality. There is a somewhat interesting story to go through but it's early-goings are way too bland to be enjoyable. It takes several missions for things to heat up and the campaign to become interesting. By the time things wrapped up, I had to give Treyarch a little credit for not making hot garbage out of the campaign. Still, there's little that can be considered original as it all seems like it was ripped out of a Christopher Nolan movie with less of a thrill. The multiplayer is certainly the weak point of this game. Lots of wall jumping and double jumping, and that's fine, but it all gets shoved into a system that is flawed from the start (no true dedicated servers, only hybrid servers that all-too-often experience problems). Matchmaking couldn't be more frustrating at times, giving The Master Chief Collection a little bit of competition. If you paid $60 for this game, you got cheated. If you paid $20-$30 for this game, it's not a loss. Call of Duty is running on fumes these days - it will take a miracle for one of these games to be good again. Expand

Treyarch's latest Black Ops is yet another dose of what you would expect from Call of Duty with a healthy serving of what you wouldn't. Treyarch's latest Black Ops is yet another dose of what you would expect from Call of Duty with a healthy serving of what you wouldn't. It doesn't quite shake things up in the ways the pervious Black Ops titles have, but in the areas it does it truly delivers something fresh. It's just a shame there isn't more innovation overall.

The majority of the changes affect campaign. For starters this time around it's can be played in four player co-op. Getting together with some friends and tackling it on a higher difficulties is a nice change of pace from the typical solo-only campaigns of previous COD games. Of course you can still play it on your own, and there are plenty of new things going on to ensure that you are having a blast regardless of whether or not you have some friends along for the ride.

Massive boss battles against robots, new special abilities to experiment with, and wider environments all lead to more exciting firefights. You get a lot of freedom to choose your play-style this time around. The more open battlegrounds and the ability to choose you own load-out for the campaign means that you can approach from any angle and attack any way you see fit. This all due to the addition of a co-op option. It goes a long way to spice things up, even if the AI isn't always the brightest.

As far as the story goes, it experiments with some cool ideas, but is overall muddled and confused. It lacks the strong focus and villain of the previous Black Ops games. The performances are great, but not all of the characters get attention. A big issue with the villains here. While the story is awkward it at least allows for some crazy things to happen. Stuff you wouldn't expect from COD. You'll jump into people's minds, watch the world literally transform around you, and swim through rivers of blood. For all of it's flawed writing it kept me engaged thanks to nailing the insanity factor and having some awesome action.

That's not all the storytelling this game has to offer though. Beat the not so standard campaign and the "Nightmare" campaign unlocks. This mode has you replaying the original campaign with a new story and all the enemies replaced with zombies. The story itself is uninteresting and even more confusing, but the way it comes off as a cheesy survival-horror version of COD makes it a blast. It's something I would love to see return in future COD games. Just like the main campaign, it's playable in co-op.

Speaking of zombies the always enjoyable Zombies mode the Black Ops series is known for makes it's return in it's biggest offering yet. There's a massive map to explore and the mode is filled with tons of new things to experiment with. New enemy types, mysterious items, new powers, and "gobblegum" make this the most unique offering yet. These additions don't reinvent the wheel as the core experience is very familiar, and you have to figure out how these new elements work on your own, but they go along way to making things more interesting. It's just a shame some of the variants of the mode that were present in Black Ops 2 didn't make their return. Zombies feels rather bare bones this time around.

The returning Dead Ops Arcade and the new Free Run mode round out the rest of the single-/co-op options. The former of which has been expanded upon in numerous ways to make it a very satisfying return indeed. Free Run mode is basically a few trial maps dedicated to showing off the new movement system you'll find in multiplayer that is very similar to Titanfall. Aside from helping you master the new wall-running, jetpack movements you can also set best times. I personally didn't find it really interesting, but it's a pretty cool addition either way that I'm sure some people will get a kick out of.

As always the real hook of the series has been the multiplayer. Black Ops 3 offers more of the same. The new mobility options are nice and can give those who take the time to master it a real edge, but overall it doesn't do much to shake things up. The ability to swim and fight underwater is cool, and the new powers brought on by the specialist characters are a nice new additions that are an appreciated and noticeable difference, but they just can't shake the sense of deja vu brought on by the multiplayer. It's disappointing, but not an entirely bad thing. The series multiplayer is still just as strong and as tight as ever, so it's still a very enjoyable experience.

Black Ops 3 is the most content rich Call of Duty yet. No matter what you are looking for be it single-player, co-op, or competitive gameplay it delivers. It's not the most revolutionary entry in the series, but does enough new to make it worth a look for series fans. It's a large serving of the new and the very familiar. Yet even where it stumbles and feels overly similar to previous COD games, there's a little something new around the corner to still make it noteworthy. This isn't Treyarch's or the series magnum opus. It's just a fun, large COD game.

This is the first well balanced CoD game (imo) since MW2. The weapons are all functional with no bad weapons. The kill streaks are balanced and toned down, as are weapon attachments. Lots a small tweaks like the removal of the n00b tube and ditching crutch perks like Toughness or Juggernaut. So mechanically it plays like a GOOD Call of Duty.

Now the changes. It is pretty, but it is still the Quake engine from 1998, age is still showing in comparison with say Rainbow Six Siege or Halo 5. But the art direction is enjoyable, as are the new gameplay features. Wall running is ripped straight from Titanfall, but is functional and it actually has purpose in the maps. The jet packs are WAAAAY toned down compared to Advanced Warfare, which felt like a bunch of Toddlers high on Crack zipping around everywhere on poorly designed maps. Seriously AW was a crap fest and the jet packs were too jarring to use. Now it is fluid and gradual with very limited use; again balanced. Specialists are many and fun adding a little character to your soldier loadout. None of the specialist abilities are overpowered and they do not break the game as they are easily stopped by other players or have situational functionality. They are not "I WIN" buttons! Map design is fantastic, not memorable with the exception of a couple maps, but well designed with classic lanes of control taken from earlier CoD games, so that is a plus.

Content is important too...I will give some credit here big time. The game is pushing DLC, but it feels the DLC is developed outside of the game cycle, proper DLC and not cut. BLOPS 3 is FRONT LOADED with tons of content. Two single player campaigns, Nightmare mode, full coop zombie campaign, full multiplayer suite with TONS of customization by including the paintshop and gunsmithing. Battlefront and EA could learn from this.

Now the negative: It is CoD, nothing new or ground breaking. For me (a person who sat out every CoD since BLOPS 1, tried AW and dropped it; I was franchise fatigued) this was refreshing to jump back into. A solid CoD title that to me brought back some high points of multiplayer fun that I remember having in MW2.

As far as the campaign, it's fine. It's jut kind of there to play through and has an interesting story, with some very twisted events (typical of the Black Ops formula). I enjoyed it, but again, that's not why most people typically purchase these games.

The multiplayer is fantastic. It's addicting. It's fast, frenetic, varied (thanks to the specialist classes and cool kill streaks) and overall just fun to jump into. I honestly have started to see why the level progression system is so addicting as well. You really get a sense of accomplishment with just about everything you do. It's borderline "gold-star for trying", but still makes you want to keep going nonetheless. Let's be honest, everyone likes a sense of achievement and progression.

The movement is fast, fluid, and easy to pick up. The maps are laid out in a way that encourages many types of play, although sniping is still pretty much a fast paced game still. I miss the long distance days from MW1 and MW2. I like to move fast with SMGs, and many of these smaller maps encourage movement, which I enjoy. However, if you want to take it slow with an LMG, have at it! All the maps can be approached with different playstyles and it makes for fun competition.

This is also one of the most complete packages yet. The new zombies mode is a ton of fun and is HUGE. It has its own ranking system as well, which is a nice change. In addition there is an entirely separate campaign that mimics the story mode, yet is full of zombies. It's fun and refreshing overall. Add in those modes to the campaign, multiplayer, and other goodies thrown in, and you just get a lot for your heard earned money here.

If you haven't liked COD in a while, this is the game to get you back into it.

The visuals are bland with poor color saturation. Gunplay is meh, so many games do it better. Loadouts are not well presented or introduced. The abilities are meh, Advanced Warfare did it much better.
This is really just a sequel of many sequels released during the holiday season.

Better graphics, but, boring. Nothing new here. Just a faster way to get spawn killed by overpowered weapons and spam.... Wish I didn't buy it because now it's just taking up space in my game cloud because I've uninstalled it. What a waste of money.

"Call of Duty: Black Ops III" is the biggest game in the series, if not the best. In fact, it's nowhere near being the best and fans of the previous BLOPS will be disappointed that it isn't a conclusion to the Alex Mason story. It is, however, loaded to the gills with plenty of content and most of it is fun. This third "Black Ops" game doesn't resemble its Cold War-set predecessors or even the Michael Bay-influenced "Modern Warfare" games. Instead, it is a bleak and violent cyberpunk adventure that blends elements of "Ghost In the Shell" with "Deux Ex" and "Metal Gear Solid 4". Adult anime is an obvious influence.

Story-wise, this is a flash forward to the dark future hinted in "Black Ops II". With a convoluted story and a bizarre ending, "Black Ops III" is the "Bioshock Infinite" of the franchise except without the subtlety. Graphically violent and dark to the extreme, the campaign of will be remembered for its ambitions, if not for its storytelling. I also noticed that memorable scripted events are scarce in this latest entry. The franchise's trademark of Hollywood-like setpieces is still present, but you'll most likely remember the endless shootouts with drones and robots. It can get a little boring, even with fellow players. The campaign can be played with four others, but it is easily one of Treyarch's worst despite the addition of "Bioshock"-like powers.

While the story mode is distinguished with its graphic content and future setting, the multiplayer stays true to the COD online formula with a few changes. Call it the "Destiny" influence, but Activision seems to have placed some elements of their newest IP into "Black Ops III". Multiplayer now includes 8 different classes of soldiers each with their own special attacks and abilities. Also, you can now purchase chests from a "Gunsmith" with "Cryptocoins" (a form of currency earned). These chests include Common and Rare weapons, skins, attachments and various goodies. Of course, Treyarch's "Zombies" has returned and is now spread into three different modes; "Shadow of Evil" (an evolution of past Zombie maps), "Dead Ops II" (a retro 2D shooter) and "Nightmare" (a remixed campaign featuring zombies). Treyarch has also included a few "Mirror's Edge"-inspired race challenges and a combat training arena that recalls the VR missions from "Metal Gear Solid".

Overall, "Black Ops III" is a monster when it comes to content. It's an even more ambitious game than the surprisingly good "Advanced Warfare". But with a bad narrative, an okay campaign and a pointless split-screen option (the graphics resemble a PS3 game), it's not as good as it could've been. However, multiplayer is still strong, "Shadow of Evil" is a blast to figure out and "Nightmares" (while not perfect) is fun to play. I'd rank this latest COD with an 8.5 out of 10.

When I started playing the missions, I thought I would be in for epic boss battles that I needed to use my high tech abilities to get through but really I went through most of the game barely using any of them and basically run and gunned my way through all the game like I have done in every other COD game of late.

I know a lot of people have complained about this game being boring (which it is at times) but for me, this should have been called "COD BO3 lets go nuts with grenades!" as every level I was having grenade after grenade thrown at me by the "AI" which left them open to shot and made each level repetitive as f*ck.

The zombies mode is nothing more than an advert to sell micro transactions and shill the upcoming DLC which is a real shame as this mode had me interested more than the rest of the games offerings.

Multiplayer is still the same but feeling so tired and unimaginative, Activision are going to ride COD into the dirt at this rate unless they are prepared to start pushing the limits and create a multi player offering that's new and fresh!

Such a let down on what should have been COD's return to form especially since you had Ben Browder as the players voice actor! seriously how can you screw up have him and still have a lame story.

The other 70 percent are 2 shot kills. This means that you can never duck behind cover, or run around a corner, if you are seen and shot, you are dead. Isn't it amazing that in this super futuristic shooter, we have special highly advanced weapons, killer robots, killer drones, nanotechnology, etc... but no body armor that makes our heroes able to absorb more than a single shot. pretty lame. Again we also see a COD game that is very flat. See that hill, you can't climb it. Want to back into a corner and hide, the corner is too shallow. How about that barricade, can you crouch behind it? Nope, that is out of bounds. The perk system is also very poor in this game. Save your money and don't but this. Expand

I definitely prefer the older zombie modes but I do appreciate black ops trying to do something different. very generic game, but still ends up being just as addictive and fun as previous titles, but honestly I could have just as much fun or more fun playing any of the other games in the series. Co-op campaign has also made a return and they opened the maps up a lot to make space for everyone and there unique load-outs. The campaign was full of ups and downs of enjoyment and boredom, I'd go from having fun to mindlessly defending a person as enemies poor though a doorway. The ability to customize and level up your guns in single player is a nice touch but doesn't stop the game from feeling extremely liner. Multi-player is similar to previous games and is very familiar to fans of the series, but other may not enjoy it as much. Odd spawns, extremely powerful guns/kill streaks and other elements can make the game very frustrating for some and enjoyable for others. There is a nice variety in game modes to, it ranges from TDM, ranked areas and the crowd favorite Uplink. Zombies is even more over the top then before with most regular zombies being company by big monsters and flying bat type creates witch makes zombies feel very overwhelming but enjoyable.
Fans of previous games in the series will enjoy black ops 3 but new comers or old fans looking to rekindle there love for the game maybe pushed away by some of the changes to the series.

I won't like, I've had a lot of fun playing the campaign and the multiplayer even if it just frustrating! That's the COD rules, there will be plenty of ridiculous kills and deaths which make this game awesome yet frustrating. This COD is not bad, but it is not the best.

I have been playing call of duty since the very first one, at the time it was brand new and amazing! Then modern warfare came, which was simply just amazing, a step into the modern day warfare. Since then they have not stopped growing, all the way to the future, with all this new tech and new weapons and new movement systems.

That's the problem , they implemented all these new features which just do not live up to their expectations or potentials. The multiplayer has been evolving ever since the best call of duty, modern warfare 1, however the main problem i find is that the maps are getting smaller and smaller but the movement is getting faster and faster, meaning you end up traversing the whole map in under a minute. Any guns other than the ones with good handling and damage, a.k.a sub machine guns, are useless. Who is going to use a sniper in those maps, sure quick scoping is fun but useless now. With the addition of the new classes your usual cod tactic does not work as you have to adapt. This would be a great features if it was more fun than annoying! The respawns are ridiculous, for example if you play in domination and go capture the enemy base, they will respawn at the base while you are capturing it and simply exterminate you. The spawn are messed up. The gun as great and new as they are, are simply a reskin of the old ones. The new movement system feels stiff and recycled. Titanfall got the running on the wall done so well, cod tried to do the same but made it so unfriendly. Overall the multiplayer is just another call of duty , nothing new, only a different skin on the weapons and map, the only new thing being the movement system, as fun as it is , removes the tactical approach that players could take before.

The new zombie mode," shadows of evil" is not great, it takes the whole fun out of zombies. Spawning and unlocking the map and then surviving for as long as your could based on pure skill and some luck in the matchmaking. With the new mode, if you do not have a headset and good partners you are doomed, there is simply to much to do by yourself. You are constantly stressing about what you have to do and leaving one zombie alive so you can achieve your goal rather than just worry about survival due to zombies. If they want zombies to be great, just keep it as it was , adding some new features, not changing the whole game mechanics.

The story is definitely one of the more engaging ones, it is not a fresh idea and is pretty cliche, but with a call of duty element which makes it fun. For the first time probably, the campaign is probably my favorite aspect of this game. You can relate to the characters, the is some development and even if it lacks some elements to the characters, the story is definitely engaging.

Finally, this is definitely a fun call of duty but there is nothing revolutionary in this game. You will find many elements from many other games. If this franchise wishes to survive they need to come up with some unique once again to make the series unique. If you wanna play with friends and have a fun time then definitely pick up this games. If you are hoping for something amazing though i would recommend halo or star wars. This game is not a waste of money, but it is not enough to justify the expense of purchasing a brand new game.

I made this review hoping to help people get a clear opinion of the game and i am not biased at all, i have been playing this franchise since the beginning and have always supported it.

We all play call of duty games for different reasons, and all of those reasons are present in black ops 3, theres zombies mode for the gamer girls and teenage boys with 14 different maps to get your wave mode on, theres multiplayer with its jetpacks and sliding and wall climbing with all of the classic modes, pretty decent maps, but theres a destiny like addition with these moves you can pull of tht recharge as you play through the match, and there are multiple different moves for you to choose from to change strategies fo different match types.. I don’t really have much to say about the multiplayer because its not really what I play for, its fun, its addictive. But im here for the campaign which is where this special move is pulled from…
And I was pleasantly surprised with what we get here with black ops 3..
This isn’t my favorite campaign in the series, but I feel this campaign is by far the coolest.. it doesn’t even feel like a call of duty campaign, this could’ve easily been a standalone ip as it tells the story of man vs machine, and this campaign is a hefty 10 hours long give or take depending on the difficulty, I played half of the campaign on easy and half of it on hard..
And this campaign does so many cool things..
at the beginning of the store a robot just rips you apart so you spend the rest of the game as an augmented human, but of course the agments and the dni is being messed with, controlling the minds of your comrads, you spend the game trying to get to the bottom of this…
With these augments youre able to do crazy things, each mission you cn choose if you want moves for control, chaos, or combat.. I played mostly with chaos as I felt there was an equal balance of attacks I could use against humans as well as robots, also It allows you to unleash these fireflied that eat the humans in your wy and you get to sing the fireflies song while they do that..
but there are multiple ways you can playthrough this campaign thanks to these controls, such as hackig everything and taking control watch dogs style if youd like…
the first half of the campaign I felt to be pretty soulless though..
I felt like I was really just going through the motions.. but as the story goes on things just get weirder and weirder an I would have to stop myself to remind myself that this is indeed a call of duty game..
and a war vs robots.. they play with illusions and memories here, its nice to see that the team was let of the leash and allowed to be free, and they crated something truly unique..
Though this campaign does suffer pacing problems and annoyances if you are playing on higher difficulties..
Checkpoints can be infuriating at times and theres this giant wall of garbage in the final chapter that I just couldn’t take anymore on hard because of its infinite spawning drones and robots.. this mission felt completely unbalanced for the difficulty, its jus just not fun or fair to have infinite drones that can kill you in 1 or 2 his while youre trying to weaken a larger enemy yards away to get in one rocket shot at a time with no progress being saved while you do this.. on top of that friendly fire is on and your team mates will run in front of you instantly failing the mission..
I just didn’t have the patience AFTER CHIPPING away at this mission for what was at least an hour…
though this was the only section of the game that I found to be unfair and unbalanced..
I didn’t necessarily have fun with this campaign, but I ultimately appreciate it for trying new things
showing players that call of duty is its buttery smooth shooting more than its military focus don’t get me wrong, this is still a military based campaign.. but its so far in the background that you hardly notice, I wouldn’t mind if call of duty contined to let one of its teams play around with its campaigns like it did here and actually step away from military a but, I dubt that would happen, but with this game I see the possibility..
I give Call of Duty Black Ops 3
    a 7.5/10

I know I'm a bit late to review this game, but as I've learned from Advanced Warfare, even if I like the game at launch, the game will most likely get worse as more and more updates are made to the game, and Black Ops 3 is no exception.

At launch, I enjoyed the game's Campaign (I am one of the very few, so don't expect to play the game and like it as I have), multiplayer, and zombies! It was the first Call of Duty game since Modern Warfare 2 where I universally liked every mode I was give, but as time will tell, the game got progressively worse! My initial score at launch would have been a solid 7/10, which, on my scale, means it's a good game. As of now... well, let's review the game first.

The campaign is one of the most hated campaigns in Call of Duty history, and as I said, I'm one of the few who actually liked it. I completely understand why people don't like the campaign though, the voice acting is cheesy as hell, the level design is very linear, the story is cliche, the AI is dumb, you name it. However, I felt the campaign did something the past call of duty games (after Modern Warfare 2) weren't doing. It innovated! We got new enemy types (which were challenging): drones, walkers, etc. We got to customize our loadouts which we took into our missions, the collectibles were fun to collect, and the story actually messed with my mind quite a bit. As unrealistic as the game is, and as disrespectful it may be to the Call of Duty Military Shooter of old, I couldn't hate the campaign. Perhaps this was because I had such low expectations after Advanced Warfare. I wish the game had continued the story of the Mason Family's story, I wish the voice acting was better, and I wish the game wasn't set so far in the future, but for what we got, I actually enjoyed the game's campaign. 7/10! It's good.

At launch, I enjoyed the multiplayer greatly! I, for one, enjoyed Advanced Warfare's multiplayer, but after a while it got extremely bland and annoying. The exo suits turned call of duty into a bunny-hopping simulator, which ruined the game for most. The new movement system is more balanced, but does little to improve or innovate on the current call of duty formula. The maps we got at launch are pretty descent, for the most part, but the DLC maps left a lot to be desired. The graphics didn't help either. The game includes glossy textures, which make guns look plastic and less realistic and gritty as the Call of Duty franchise had once been. The sound effects are pretty good, even though the weapons are very unbalanced. As the game got older, the servers got so much worse, and eventually became unplayable. The lag, as of now, is completely game breaking! It is the worst lag I've seen since Battlefield 4 at launch, and I'm not exaggerating! The hit marker detection is awful, and has been awful even at launch, the lag got worse and worse, the skill-gap compression is a huge issue, input/output delays happen constantly, and what's worse is that the Black Market Supply Drops have made the game a Pay-to-Win system. At launch, the Black Market didn't require money and was a method to get cosmetic items, which I actually liked! It's not as bad as the Advanced Warfare Supply Drop system, but it's pretty bad! This multiplayer has been completely ruined by these upadtes. At launch, I would have given the multiplayer an 8/10, which is really good, but now it's a 3/10! It's bad!

At launch, Zombies was actually my least favorite part of the game. I purchased the Hardened Edition, which gave me the Der Riese remake called the Giant, which was a pretty good map, but Shadows of Evil was a Mob of the Dead rehash, which isn't a bad thing, but didn't quite work for the map itself which is set in the 1950s. The map has been improved with updates to the game however, and has since then, become a somewhat descent map. One improvement was having two Margwa heads open at once. While I loved the third map, Der Eisendrache, I really didn't like the fourth map Zetsobou No Shima, which was glitchier and buggier than any Zombies map I'd ever played. I didn't expect the next two maps, Gorod Krovi and Revelations to be as good as they were, but Treyarch managed to release some of the best maps in Zombies history. Now, Black Ops 3 zombies, while a huge improvement over Black Ops 2's mediocre Zombies and Advanced Warfare's Exo Zombies, doesn't quite live up to the reputation of it's predecessors in Black Ops 1 and World at War, but overall, it's pretty good. It also helps that they added a customization feature to allow players to customize their weapons with the sights and attachments they want to use! This is a great addition to the game mode, and the best innovation since the Pack-A-Punch Machine in World at War. My biggest issue with the Zombies mode is the servers suck! I played a solo game and I got the "Connection Interrupted" message and had to restart! WTF! This mode ended up being a 7/10! It's good, but the lag keeps it from getting an 8!

Still had no clue what was going on story wise and didn't really care. Multiplayer is the same as it has always been. Sure you can run on walls and what not, but basically the same. Graphics are great as well. Loading the game every time makes you wait for the Treyarch and Activision symbols and then there is the download for syncing to multiplayer. This is next gen, tired of all these loading screens and wait times. I would rate this game much worse, but my love for Zombies keeps me from doing that. So if you like Zombies enough to pay $110.00 then go for it, otherwise Pass on this one. Expand

Call Of Duty Black Ops III is an absolutely disappointing game. The horribly bad single player campaign, stupid supply drops that give you less than 0.1% of a chance to get a new weapon, alright graphics, meh weapons and abysmal multiplayer.

    Pros:
    Graphics
    Weapons

    Cons:
    Multiplayer
    Season Pass
    Supply Drops
    Single Player Campaign
    Confusing Story

Black Ops 3 is the first decent Call of Duty in a long time. The game plays and feels like a Call of Duty game. There is plenty of gun variety, however, the solid gunplay is bogged down by the lack of dedicated servers and the awful lag compensation system. In this era where more and more games have dedicated servers, Call of Duty fails to bring that to the table, lagging behind all of its competitors. This makes engagements be decided by connection far more often than they should. This game would feel and play A LOT better with dedicated servers, and therefore would warrant a higher score. BO3 also miserably fails to upgrade its engine/graphics. The graphics are laughably old and out of style compared to current gen competitors. Graphics do not make a game, but they sure help.

I have not played zombies yet, but I have heard good things about it.

BO3 is not a bad game, but it is not a great game either

TLDR: Black Ops 3 = meh

The campaign tried to change from the past Call of Duty games, the other Call of Duty games have the same story pattern while this one is a little unique, this campaign added abilities like the hacking ability or using bees to kill an enemy, but in the end you find them completely useless and just shoot your way out of the level. The multiplayer in the Call of Duty games is always fun and entertaining, for ten minutes just like this game. There are no improvements or adjustments to this one other than the mash up from the Black Ops III campaign ( the abilities, weapons, etc. ), if you want to pay $59.99 for the multiplayer you can just pay less for Black Ops II.
At this point the game deserves 6/10, but if it wasn't for Zombie mode this game wouldn't be worth buying. Black Ops III zombies is definitely better than the past Black Ops games, rather than running around shooting zombies you can do that and more, unfortunately there is only one map during release or without the season pass, but it's still fun, the are many things to do and secrets to find, it's surprisingly addicting.
Overall the game is only worth buying for zombies or if you don't own Call of Duty Black Ops II, the slight improvements in zombies and different play style are positives. However like any other game out there, it has negatives too, besides what we talked about earlier, there is also the HORRIBLE connection with the servers. At first, I thought I had bad connection, but my friends had the same problem, disconnected? good luck logging back in. So overall the game deserves a 7/10.

I do like that Der Riese (The Giant) was remade however, as it's one of the best zombies maps Treyarch has made over the years. My problem with zombies after Black Ops 1 is that it has gotten far too complicated. What I mean by that is it's drifted too away from what made zombies so unique. The multiplayer is a major letdown as well. Black Ops 2 pushed the futuristic concept without drastically changing the core formula of Call of Duty multiplayer. The multiplayer in this game is just very frustrating and too much like Titanfall. What hampered the experience for me was the people who play take it so seriously. I am a casual gamer who enjoys picking up and playing games like COD for fun. Sadly this game is just too competitive for my liking. I will be sticking with Advanced Warfare or Black Ops 1 instead of playing this piece of garbage they try to pass off as a Call of Duty game. Expand

Perhaps if the campaign had forced you to learn them/use them as you progressed I would've been more comfortable using them and enjoyed them more.

I put a serious amount of hours into the multiplayer and prestiged. It is a solid multiplayer offering for the series if you don't mind the new style of CoD where everybody is flying through the air like monkeys because of the jetpacks. There is plenty of variety of game modes etc to keep people busy and coming back for more.

I didn't really touch the zombies mode so I can't comment on that.

First of all; was it really that hard to get the campaign on old-gen consoles? At least the local one. I personally don't think it innovated anything, yes, the graphics were amazing but, that aside I didn't find it special, the fact I could choose the face of my character I thought was pretty awesome but then, not even a frigging name?! Seriously?! Anyway, I'm fully disappointed with the campaign generally, heck, I liked Advanced Warfare better.
As for multiplayer, it's exactly the same thing as Black Ops 2 which could be both ways; good or bad. I liked it because it FEELS like Black Ops but also I am quite disappointed that we anxiously waited for it and it's exactly the same thing with just a tiny bit of adjustments.
Zombies is the only thing I personally believe is salvageable from the game, even if it's the same concept as the previous Black Ops, it does give us a new chapter on the story following this whole chaos so I think the effort of something worth playing was made on zombies... And I'm not even that much of a fan for zombie maps.
So, in conclusion, I'm highly disappointed, maybe my expectations were extremely high, maybe I expected too much of this game but in the end, I feel like turning my 360 on and play the first two Black Ops.

Not worth the price if your only buying for zombies as you need to spend another £35-£40 on a season pass to get the rest of the maps. Campaign 4/10: The story line is straight up terrible. No character development at all whatsoever. The characters are simply not memorable and the story is a confusing mess of nonsense. Cybernetic Core abilities are a complete rip from Bioshock. However, load-out customization is fun and adds a new element to the game.

Multiplayer 8/10: I have enjoyed the multiplayer a lot. Many different game types, some new and some old. Camo unlocks are fun to complete. Spawn systems are broken sometimes and many players tend to use the same top-tier guns (kuda).

Zombies 7/10: Shadows of evil is very similar to Mob of the Dead from black ops 3. Pack-a-punch takes a large process to open, so it takes a while to set up to actually start completing waves. Gun customization and leveling allows the player to improve wall gun purchases giving them an advantage. New perk, widows wine, is very effective and fun to use. Boss waves and different enemies mix up the gameplay and keep the player engaged and aware. DLC maps not included in this review.

THE BLACK MARKET: The Black Market is one of the biggest scams I have ever seen in microtransaction history. With dlc weapons added to the black market, activision has gross millions of dollars by selling players virtually nothing. I made the mistake of spending $20 on cod points for the BM. DO NOT SPEND MONEY ON COD POINTS! The chances of you actually getting one of the rare weapons is very slim. I also have an extremely hard time believing that the odds of getting rare stuff is the same whether you spend COD points or Cryptokeys. Most of the time you get useless stuff, such as the dust camo, mustache decal, or a legendary attachment. Armor makes the game feel childish with rainbow helmets and pink armor... Taunts are funny at first, but get annoying seeing the same ones over and over again.

Fans expect the next call of duty to be even better with another award winning multiplayer, gritty campaign, and a zombie mode. With Black Ops 2 and Advanced warfare both being great hits, can Black Ops 3 live up to the franchises expectations of greatness? There are many new things in Call of Duty Black Ops 3 that makes it clearly different from the other previous games. It is set in a futuristic time period similar to Advanced Warfare, but what sets it aside from it is the difference in game mechanics. Unlike Advanced Warfare, where the game is based around clunky double jumping at every opportunity, the movement mechanics in Black Ops 3 are fluent and feel very well thought out. Also it still maintains its feel of a call of duty game. The developers introduced new specialist classes that have their own unique weapon, customizability, and abilities that are separate from a killstreak but are treated in the same manner. As always they introduced new weapons that are well balanced and unique from one another and new multiplayer maps. The game has been regularly updated with new content and patches that do not need to be purchased, however it will have additional content later down the line that will need to be purchased for additional multiplayer maps, weapons and customizable content. The black market is another interesting new feature that they introduced, allowing players to earn money in game and spend it on a random generated items, but can also be purchased using real money. Aside from the the 12 year old cussing players that plague the gaming community, this game earns a 8/10 in my book for its originality. It’s fun to play when you want to play a few quick games and everything from the movement to the map creation feels very good. The only major bad things this game suffers from, just like its predecessors, is the lack of teamwork in team based games, the introduction of micro transactions and the required purchase of additional content. But don’t be mistaken this game is still very well worth your time and has more than enough content with the base purchase to satisfy any gamers needs. Expand

Lots of explosions, well pretty much nothing but explosions and massive set pieces but no pacing, no variety, just run down the same enemy infested corridors with the same enemies behaving in the same way. The same animation of a VTOL spinning through the air over and over again. One crash: impressive. Two crashes, mmmmm. The same crash repeated over and over again boring as hell. Supply Drops were a mistake especially you can pay for them in this game which to me gives it a Pay-To-Win feeling. Zombies is bearable but two things kills it. One is it only takes 3 hits to get down with Juggernog and the red screen after two hits lasts way to long and leaves a lot of opportunity to get down. I'm not afraid of a challenge in zombies but I have had so many dumb downs it can get very annoying. The specialists are a nice touch but some like the Ripper, charge to quickly and are overpowered. Two the game only comes with one Zombies map unlike BO2 that came with at least 3.

Black Ops III is a perfectly entertaining FPS, but it's not a masterpiece. In fact, fans of the previous BLOPS games will be disappointed that it isn't a conclusion to the Alex Mason story. It is, however, loaded to the gills with plenty of content and most of it is solid. Surprisingly, this game doesn't resemble its Cold War-set predecessors or even the Michael Bay-influenced "ModernBlack Ops III is a perfectly entertaining FPS, but it's not a masterpiece. In fact, fans of the previous BLOPS games will be disappointed that it isn't a conclusion to the Alex Mason story. It is, however, loaded to the gills with plenty of content and most of it is solid. Surprisingly, this game doesn't resemble its Cold War-set predecessors or even the Michael Bay-influenced "Modern Warfare" games. Instead, it is a bleak and violent cyberpunk adventure that blends elements of "Ghost In the Shell" with "Deux Ex" and "Metal Gear Solid 4". Adult anime is an obvious influence.

Story-wise, it is a flash forward to the dark future hinted in "Black Ops II". With a convoluted story and a bizarre ending, this game is the "Bioshock Infinite" of the franchise except without the subtlety. Graphically violent and dark to the extreme, the campaign will be remembered for its ambitions, if not for its storytelling. The franchise's trademark of Hollywood setpieces is still present, but you'll most likely remember the endless shootouts with drones and robots.

Treyarch has also included deep weapon customization, a few "Mirror's Edge"-inspired race challenges and a combat training arena that recalls the VR missions from "Metal Gear Solid".

Overall, "Black Ops III" is a monster when it comes to content. It's an even more ambitious game than the surprisingly good "Advanced Warfare". But with a muddy narrative, a forgettable campaign and a pointless split-screen option (the graphics resemble a PS3 game), it's not as good as it could've been. However, multiplayer is still strong and the amount of quality content Treyarch packed into the disc is somewhat astounding. It may not be the best in the franchise, but I'd rank this latest COD with an 8.4 out of 10.

The best online multiplayer in the series in my opinion. You can play your style and maps are bright which I like. Much better than infinite warfare for multiplayer. The only reason I did not give it a 10 is the supply drop system.

A great game despite its flaws. The campaign could be more but still manages to be a great experience if you look past the first few missions. Multiplayer is a blast and makes up for the inadequacies found in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. If you're a fan of Call of Duty, this will appeal to you. While the formula doesn't take risks, it still works.

If you play CoD for the campaign, Black Ops III is a low point featuring a confusing and uninteresting story, poor pacing, cheesy dialogue and over-the-top voice acting that results in a story that resembles what the outcome would be if you dropped the cast of Team America: World Police on the set of Inception or Source Code.

Treyarch may not always hit its targets, but this remains a genuinely fresh take on an old sub-series in an even older franchise. A game as well-oiled as its cyborgian characters. [Christmas 2015, p.60]
