This is one of the worst games i have ever played. To begin the campaign is terrible and doesnt even follow in the black ops story. Zombies is one of the worst zombies of all time and i have never have fun playing it, I am not one of those people blinded by nostalgia with zombies chronices. Even with zopmbies chronicles the game is absolutely trash. I wish i never played or bought this game, all of the maps are terrible, the zombies hit way too fast, you cant survive, it is not fun. I constantly have lagging issues and the game never works properly and never lets me on the servers. All i have now is just a ABC error and i cant get back onto the game so i deleted it and will never touch this terrible game again, if you see this review take all of the information into account and never touch this game, it is not worth your time or effort nor money. (Mainly based off zombies because I play it 99% of the time) good solid game and multiplayer is good, in zombies you have shadows of evil where when the easter egg is done rictofen from origins takes the summoning key and kills the version of him from world at war to black ops 2 before origins, in the giant which is a remake of der reis from world at war, then rictofen and his friends dempsey, takeo and nikolai go to dlc #1 (just saving words by saying dlc and whatever number it is) kill old dempsey, after that dlc #2 where old takeo kills himself after finding out the Japanese empires emperor sent him to there, then dlc#3 where you kill old nikolai, after that the ending of bo3 dlc#4 where you kill the shadow man then dr monty sends you to origins again then starts a cycle that gets broken in bo4, then they did dlc#5 zombie chronicles that re made maps like nacht der toten, verruckt, shino numa, shang ri la and origins. The zombies is the best part of the game. Zombies is almost perfect. I like some of the gobble gums. The guns are cool. Customizing guns are cool. Though, half of the maps are good. The only good maps are the remakes, that...is...it!

Multiplayer is stupid. Borning maps. Boring all over. Don't recommend it.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This game is the embodiment of meh. The trailer i saw was overhyping the game way too much. Putting aside my salt from the fiasco with my BO3 copy for the 360, the campaign is confusing and hard to follow on. All i know is robot ripped off my arms and now im shooting people. The guns and customization are also ok but it's hard to unlock things. The multiplayer is by far the best part and is the only thing keeping this from getting a 3, it was really good with all the specialist kill rewards like gravity spikes and things such as that. The zombies is ok, zombies still doesn't sell me on games and so it's still boring to me. This game is just ok. Expand

I am going to start with what I hate. The first thing is the specialist abilities. Know I am not saying that those abilities are terrible but the campaign had some really nice specialist abilities, and yet they don't even use them in a multiplayer where the games campaign is based of of the DNI. The other thing I hate is the wait time between dying in a zombies game, and going to the lobby Expand

Thankfully, the multiplayer is an improvement over Advanced Warfare's. It tones down the high jumping and introduces "Specialists", soldiers that can activate a unique ability. Unfortunately, the story mode is the worst entry in the series' history. It is a convoluted, bizarre cyberpunk tale that recalls "Ghost in the Shell" and "Source Code". Gameplay-wise, the campaign resembles "Deus Ex" more than a COD game. It's decent if you play cooperatively, but a total slog if you go solo. Overall, "Black Ops III" is not a masterpiece, but is perfectly entertaining. I would rate it with an 8.2 out of 10. Expand

We all play call of duty games for different reasons, and all of those reasons are present in black ops 3, theres zombies mode for the gamer girls and teenage boys with 14 different maps to get your wave mode on, theres multiplayer with its jetpacks and sliding and wall climbing with all of the classic modes, pretty decent maps, but theres a destiny like addition with these moves you can pull of tht recharge as you play through the match, and there are multiple different moves for you to choose from to change strategies fo different match types.. I don’t really have much to say about the multiplayer because its not really what I play for, its fun, its addictive. But im here for the campaign which is where this special move is pulled from…
And I was pleasantly surprised with what we get here with black ops 3..
This isn’t my favorite campaign in the series, but I feel this campaign is by far the coolest.. it doesn’t even feel like a call of duty campaign, this could’ve easily been a standalone ip as it tells the story of man vs machine, and this campaign is a hefty 10 hours long give or take depending on the difficulty, I played half of the campaign on easy and half of it on hard..
And this campaign does so many cool things..
at the beginning of the store a robot just rips you apart so you spend the rest of the game as an augmented human, but of course the agments and the dni is being messed with, controlling the minds of your comrads, you spend the game trying to get to the bottom of this…
With these augments youre able to do crazy things, each mission you cn choose if you want moves for control, chaos, or combat.. I played mostly with chaos as I felt there was an equal balance of attacks I could use against humans as well as robots, also It allows you to unleash these fireflied that eat the humans in your wy and you get to sing the fireflies song while they do that..
but there are multiple ways you can playthrough this campaign thanks to these controls, such as hackig everything and taking control watch dogs style if youd like…
the first half of the campaign I felt to be pretty soulless though..
I felt like I was really just going through the motions.. but as the story goes on things just get weirder and weirder an I would have to stop myself to remind myself that this is indeed a call of duty game..
and a war vs robots.. they play with illusions and memories here, its nice to see that the team was let of the leash and allowed to be free, and they crated something truly unique..
Though this campaign does suffer pacing problems and annoyances if you are playing on higher difficulties..
Checkpoints can be infuriating at times and theres this giant wall of garbage in the final chapter that I just couldn’t take anymore on hard because of its infinite spawning drones and robots.. this mission felt completely unbalanced for the difficulty, its jus just not fun or fair to have infinite drones that can kill you in 1 or 2 his while youre trying to weaken a larger enemy yards away to get in one rocket shot at a time with no progress being saved while you do this.. on top of that friendly fire is on and your team mates will run in front of you instantly failing the mission..
I just didn’t have the patience AFTER CHIPPING away at this mission for what was at least an hour…
though this was the only section of the game that I found to be unfair and unbalanced..
I didn’t necessarily have fun with this campaign, but I ultimately appreciate it for trying new things
showing players that call of duty is its buttery smooth shooting more than its military focus don’t get me wrong, this is still a military based campaign.. but its so far in the background that you hardly notice, I wouldn’t mind if call of duty contined to let one of its teams play around with its campaigns like it did here and actually step away from military a but, I dubt that would happen, but with this game I see the possibility..
I give Call of Duty Black Ops 3
    a 7.5/10

Call of Duty: Black Ops III is a mixed bag of great ideas with often terrible execution.

    Campaign:
The good thing about Black Ops III's campaign is undeniably the level of customisation on display here. You can customise your loadouts with just as much freedom and detail as in multiplayer, you can change your appearance, you can unlock and use new abilities and even level up your character. The problem is LITERALLY EVERYTHING ELSE! The story is boring (as are the characters), the gunfights are fun for the most part but the time in between those is filled with waiting for your ally to open a door or spout unskipable exposition which is incredibly tedious and slow on subsequent playthroughs and worst of all: this game isn't a sequel. The only thing that ties BO3 to BO2 is ONE off the cuff remark about Menendez, the antagonist of BO2. Pathetic. Its a shame because the amount of unlockables would make this game highly replayable if it was fun to play. Oh, and there's zombies because of course there is.

    Multiplayer:
The multiplayer is the best part about Black Ops III. The new movement system is awesome and makes for some fun and frantic matches. The guns are great (mostly), the new specialists are great (mostly) and the maps and modes are also great (mostly). What drags it down into the abyss however is the Black Market, A.K.A. Microtransations! There are two things that make the Black Market terrible: the overpowered firearms that must be unlocked through this system, and the incredibly annoying duplicates that ensure you'll never unlock everything. If you can somehow ignore that however, the multiplayer is great.

    Zombies:
The fan favourite zombies mode returns and is disappointing. Black Ops III comes with only one zombies map by default, Shadows of Evil. SoE is an easter egg/story-driven map that is NOT built for pure survival and is in fact very difficult to play like a traditional zombies map. Don't get me wrong however, SoE is a great map but its not enough. There exists a pre-order bonus map (which currently available on the Xbox Store for $10 AUD) called The Giant which plays like a traditional survival zombies map. If this map was bundled with the game or was a free download then this game's score would go up. BO3's zombies also features a progression system for the first time ever and its great. But it of course it also features microtransactions using a separate currency to the multiplayer, though they're not as bad here.

Overall Call of Duty: Black Ops III is a good game held back by a poor campaign and horrendous business practices and despite having microtransactions, the DLC and expansions still cost money.

Zombies mode saves this game from being a disaster. The campaign is poor , the multiplayer is annoying BUT the Zombies mode is awesome. Not worth the price if your only buying for zombies as you need to spend another £35-£40 on a season pass to get the rest of the maps. They need to release a standalone Zombies game and stop stringing people for money.

I know I'm a bit late to review this game, but as I've learned from Advanced Warfare, even if I like the game at launch, the game will most likely get worse as more and more updates are made to the game, and Black Ops 3 is no exception.

At launch, I enjoyed the game's Campaign (I am one of the very few, so don't expect to play the game and like it as I have), multiplayer, and zombies! It was the first Call of Duty game since Modern Warfare 2 where I universally liked every mode I was give, but as time will tell, the game got progressively worse! My initial score at launch would have been a solid 7/10, which, on my scale, means it's a good game. As of now... well, let's review the game first.

The campaign is one of the most hated campaigns in Call of Duty history, and as I said, I'm one of the few who actually liked it. I completely understand why people don't like the campaign though, the voice acting is cheesy as hell, the level design is very linear, the story is cliche, the AI is dumb, you name it. However, I felt the campaign did something the past call of duty games (after Modern Warfare 2) weren't doing. It innovated! We got new enemy types (which were challenging): drones, walkers, etc. We got to customize our loadouts which we took into our missions, the collectibles were fun to collect, and the story actually messed with my mind quite a bit. As unrealistic as the game is, and as disrespectful it may be to the Call of Duty Military Shooter of old, I couldn't hate the campaign. Perhaps this was because I had such low expectations after Advanced Warfare. I wish the game had continued the story of the Mason Family's story, I wish the voice acting was better, and I wish the game wasn't set so far in the future, but for what we got, I actually enjoyed the game's campaign. 7/10! It's good.

At launch, I enjoyed the multiplayer greatly! I, for one, enjoyed Advanced Warfare's multiplayer, but after a while it got extremely bland and annoying. The exo suits turned call of duty into a bunny-hopping simulator, which ruined the game for most. The new movement system is more balanced, but does little to improve or innovate on the current call of duty formula. The maps we got at launch are pretty descent, for the most part, but the DLC maps left a lot to be desired. The graphics didn't help either. The game includes glossy textures, which make guns look plastic and less realistic and gritty as the Call of Duty franchise had once been. The sound effects are pretty good, even though the weapons are very unbalanced. As the game got older, the servers got so much worse, and eventually became unplayable. The lag, as of now, is completely game breaking! It is the worst lag I've seen since Battlefield 4 at launch, and I'm not exaggerating! The hit marker detection is awful, and has been awful even at launch, the lag got worse and worse, the skill-gap compression is a huge issue, input/output delays happen constantly, and what's worse is that the Black Market Supply Drops have made the game a Pay-to-Win system. At launch, the Black Market didn't require money and was a method to get cosmetic items, which I actually liked! It's not as bad as the Advanced Warfare Supply Drop system, but it's pretty bad! This multiplayer has been completely ruined by these upadtes. At launch, I would have given the multiplayer an 8/10, which is really good, but now it's a 3/10! It's bad!

At launch, Zombies was actually my least favorite part of the game. I purchased the Hardened Edition, which gave me the Der Riese remake called the Giant, which was a pretty good map, but Shadows of Evil was a Mob of the Dead rehash, which isn't a bad thing, but didn't quite work for the map itself which is set in the 1950s. The map has been improved with updates to the game however, and has since then, become a somewhat descent map. One improvement was having two Margwa heads open at once. While I loved the third map, Der Eisendrache, I really didn't like the fourth map Zetsobou No Shima, which was glitchier and buggier than any Zombies map I'd ever played. I didn't expect the next two maps, Gorod Krovi and Revelations to be as good as they were, but Treyarch managed to release some of the best maps in Zombies history. Now, Black Ops 3 zombies, while a huge improvement over Black Ops 2's mediocre Zombies and Advanced Warfare's Exo Zombies, doesn't quite live up to the reputation of it's predecessors in Black Ops 1 and World at War, but overall, it's pretty good. It also helps that they added a customization feature to allow players to customize their weapons with the sights and attachments they want to use! This is a great addition to the game mode, and the best innovation since the Pack-A-Punch Machine in World at War. My biggest issue with the Zombies mode is the servers suck! I played a solo game and I got the "Connection Interrupted" message and had to restart! WTF! This mode ended up being a 7/10! It's good, but the lag keeps it from getting an 8!

The other 70 percent are 2 shot kills. This means that you can never duck behind cover, or run around a corner, if you are seen and shot, you are dead. Isn't it amazing that in this super futuristic shooter, we have special highly advanced weapons, killer robots, killer drones, nanotechnology, etc... but no body armor that makes our heroes able to absorb more than a single shot. pretty lame. Again we also see a COD game that is very flat. See that hill, you can't climb it. Want to back into a corner and hide, the corner is too shallow. How about that barricade, can you crouch behind it? Nope, that is out of bounds. The perk system is also very poor in this game. Save your money and don't but this. Expand

Black Ops III is a perfectly entertaining FPS, but it's not a masterpiece. In fact, fans of the previous BLOPS games will be disappointed that it isn't a conclusion to the Alex Mason story. In fact, fans of the previous BLOPS games will be disappointed that it isn't a conclusion to the Alex Mason story. It is, however, loaded to the gills with plenty of content and most of it is solid. Surprisingly, this game doesn't resemble its Cold War-set predecessors or even the Michael Bay-influenced "Modern Warfare" games. Instead, it is a bleak and violent cyberpunk adventure that blends elements of "Ghost In the Shell" with "Deux Ex" and "Metal Gear Solid 4". Adult anime is an obvious influence.

Story-wise, it is a flash forward to the dark future hinted in "Black Ops II". With a convoluted story and a bizarre ending, this game is the "Bioshock Infinite" of the franchise except without the subtlety. Graphically violent and dark to the extreme, the campaign will be remembered for its ambitions, if not for its storytelling. The franchise's trademark of Hollywood setpieces is still present, but you'll most likely remember the endless shootouts with drones and robots. It can get a little boring, even with fellow players. The campaign can be played with four others, but it is easily one of Treyarch's worst despite the addition of "Bioshock"-like powers.

While the story mode is distinguished with its graphic content and future setting, the multiplayer stays true to the COD online formula with a few changes. Call it the "Destiny" influence, but Activision seems to have placed some elements of their newest IP into "Black Ops III". Multiplayer now includes 8 different classes of soldiers each with their own special attacks and abilities. Also, you can now purchase chests from a "Gunsmith" with "Cryptocoins" (a form of currency earned). These chests include Common and Rare weapons, skins, attachments and various goodies. Of course, Treyarch's "Zombies" has returned and is now spread into three different modes; "Shadow of Evil" (an evolution of past Zombie maps), "Dead Ops II" (a retro 2D shooter) and "Nightmare" (a remixed campaign featuring zombies). Treyarch has also included deep weapon customization, a few "Mirror's Edge"-inspired race challenges and a combat training arena that recalls the VR missions from "Metal Gear Solid".

Overall, "Black Ops III" is a monster when it comes to content. It's an even more ambitious game than the surprisingly good "Advanced Warfare". But with a muddy narrative, a forgettable campaign and a pointless split-screen option (the graphics resemble a PS3 game), it's not as good as it could've been. However, multiplayer is still strong and the amount of quality content Treyarch packed into the disc is somewhat astounding. It may not be the best in the franchise, but I'd rank this latest COD with an 8.4 out of 10.

Which is unfortunate, because Black Ops III deserves criticism, but not just because it's another Call of Duty game. I'll admit it's a factor, but that doesn't earn the game an immediate 0. Let's start with the negatives, that have been ignored in favor of the aforementioned or otherwise blindly glossed over.

This game has the worst multiplayer servers in the series, to the point that it's nearly unplayable. It's not unusual to be disconnected five times in a row. Host migrations almost always fail. Lobbies full of players but never start a match. Random and frequent lag spikes to 400 ping regardless of your connection speed. I once played ten minutes in game for what should have amounted to an hour. -2 for playability.

The single-player campaign is also easily the worst in the series. It's obvious that they just included it because they had to. Nonsensical plot, meaningless enemies, nonexistant effort put into this at all. If you've ever tried to get into it, I pity you. -2 for including this half-ass throwaway of a campaign.

Now for the positives. This is the best Zombies experience there is, on par with and built over the original experience in World at War. Diverse maps, great gameplay, complex mechanics that actually require some forethought, and an interesting wrap up to the background storyline to boot. +2 for impressing me on this part of the game, and -1 for deliberately putting the best parts of BO3 in $60 DLC.

The multiplayer gameplay itself is surprisingly good too, but the unreliability of the servers effectively cancel this out. The specialists and movement system keep things varied enough, and the new game modes like Safeguard are more than welcome. Relatively balanced gunplay. All in all it's still fun with a friend, and that's also the only reason I play it, if only to pass the time waiting to find a real match.

And yes, -2 for being another COD game. Starting at an 8/10 is more than fair. We all know the series has been milked, but compared to the immediate previous games in this series, BO3 is definitely a standout title. I'd even say that I'd rather play this than MW3 or BO2, and I'd rank BO3 above either of them.

You are probably saying, who gets Call of Duty for their campaign? Well, I do because Multiplayer is mostly trash. I love their storylines... most of them suck sadly... like this one.

The plot twist can be seen in the beginning of the campaign, horrible backstory, and it doesn't even fall in line with Black Ops 1 or 2 storyline. Treyarch should have renamed this a different name other than Black Ops 3... but let's face it, they are greedy for money and they knew having Black Ops in the title would sell more copies.

Exo Boosts? Where the hell is this feature in the campaign? It was not even in any of the 11 campaign missions that you played, but why is this ability in multiplayer though? Did they add it in at the last minute? The only Exo ability you have is wall running like in Titanfall.

Multiplayer? Horrible, everyone just jumps around like fish out of water just like in Advanced Warfare. And then, they are back at their greedy money aspect by adding COD Points to the game to buy in-game horrible skins for your weapons. Like why spend money are on a crap game? By buying these COD Points, you are just letting Activision know to implement this crap in other titles.

The only great thing about this game is the graphics and detail of characters. Other than that, Black Ops 3 is not worth the $60 or even $40 dollars to spend on this game. Thank God I did not spend any money on this game.

The Plot is stupid, concluded, melodramatic, hard to follow, and just down right boring. The "characters" are so poorly written, and don't effect the plot whatsoever. Your "buddy Boy" Hendricks is the worst sidekick in FPS history. Overall, The Campaign is the worst part of the entire game. Don't play it. Zombies are back, but is much more sophisticated than Black Ops 2. with a improved leveling, stat, and gun system. However we have more uninteresting characters, 1 map, and boring online game play. Multiplayer is the only reason i gave this review a 4. Much better than AW's awful Multiplayer, but much worse than black ops 2's. Again We have an OP gun in every class, Like the VMP, KN44, 205 Brecci, P-06, and Dingo. The specialist system is a small breath of fresh air, but like the guns, its crystal clear some abilities and weapons are better than others. The Supply Drop system is back, and is a little better than AW's. We have Supply drop only weapons with a little bit better drop rates, but still its frustrating and an annoyance However all the small silver linings make a unpolished and difficult multiplayer experience. Overall a lack luster COD, and another disappointment from treyarch. Expand

My problem with zombies after Black Ops 1 is that it has gotten far too complicated. What I mean by that is it's drifted too away from what made zombies so unique. The multiplayer is a major letdown as well. Black Ops 2 pushed the futuristic concept without drastically changing the core formula of Call of Duty multiplayer. The multiplayer in this game is just very frustrating and too much like Titanfall. What hampered the experience for me was the people who play take it so seriously. Multiplayer is unbalanced with weapons like the VMP and Vesper dominating and generally damage output can be very annoying in terms of how much you shoot someone. Supply Drops were a mistake especially you can pay for them in this game which to me gives it a Pay-To-Win feeling. Zombies is bearable but two things kills it. One is it only takes 3 hits to get down with Juggernog and the red screen after two hits lasts way to long and leaves a lot of opportunity to get down. I'm not afraid of a challenge in zombies but I have had so many dumb downs it can get very annoying. The specialists are a nice touch but some like the Ripper, charge to quickly and are overpowered. Two the game only comes with one Zombies map unlike BO2 that came with at least 3. In this game if you want to play more then Shadows of Evil, you have to buy season pass or buy the DLC's on their own. Also Shadows of Evil is horrible map to start out with because it takes a very long time to learn. The game also has many bugs and exploitable glitches and zombies and multiplier. Black Ops 3 was a lofty goal for Treyarch that extended from the events of Black Ops 2, the only problem being that, unlike the origins of the Black Ops series, the third installment lacked some originality. There is a somewhat interesting story to go through but it's early-goings are way too bland to be enjoyable. It takes several missions for things to heat up and the campaign to become interesting. By the time things wrapped up, I had to give Treyarch a little credit for not making hot garbage out of the campaign. Still, there's little that can be considered original as it all seems like it was ripped out of a Christopher Nolan movie with less of a thrill. The multiplayer is certainly the weak point of this game. Lots of wall jumping and double jumping, and that's fine, but it all gets shoved into a system that is flawed from the start (no true dedicated servers, only hybrid servers that all-too-often experience problems). Matchmaking couldn't be more frustrating at times, giving The Master Chief Collection a little bit of competition. If you paid $60 for this game, you got cheated. If you paid $20-$30 for this game, it's not a loss. Call of Duty is running on fumes these days - it will take a miracle for one of these games to be good again. Expand

Fans expect the next call of duty to be even better with another award winning multiplayer, gritty campaign, and a zombie mode. With Black Ops 2 and Advanced warfare both being great hits, can Black Ops 3 live up to the franchises expectations of greatness? There are many new things in Call of Duty Black Ops 3 that makes it clearly different from the other previous games. It is set in a futuristic time period similar to Advanced Warfare, but what sets it aside from it is the difference in game mechanics. Unlike Advanced Warfare, where the game is based around clunky double jumping at every opportunity, the movement mechanics in Black Ops 3 are fluent and feel very well thought out. Also it still maintains its feel of a call of duty game. The developers introduced new specialist classes that have their own unique weapon, customizability, and abilities that are separate from a killstreak but are treated in the same manner. As always they introduced new weapons that are well balanced and unique from one another and new multiplayer maps. The game has been regularly updated with new content and patches that do not need to be purchased, however it will have additional content later down the line that will need to be purchased for additional multiplayer maps, weapons and customizable content. The black market is another interesting new feature that they introduced, allowing players to earn money in game and spend it on a random generated items, but can also be purchased using real money. Aside from the the 12 year old cussing players that plague the gaming community, this game earns a 8/10 in my book for its originality. It’s fun to play when you want to play a few quick games and everything from the movement to the map creation feels very good. The only major bad things this game suffers from, just like its predecessors, is the lack of teamwork in team based games, the introduction of micro transactions and the required purchase of additional content. But don’t be mistaken this game is still very well worth your time and has more than enough content with the base purchase to satisfy any gamers needs. Expand

zombies overall they did a fantastic job with the zombies mode that they made all 3 maps available of time of this review (including the 2 zombies maps in the $70 aus season pass) are all good maps in their own way but black ops 2 zombies where better because we got 4 zombie maps at launch without having to by a season pass this game I felt short changed with the amount of zombies maps that we got with black ops 3 do more than 1 zombie map at launch next time and don't lock the 2nd zombie map under a preorder bonus your better than this tray arc
    multiplayer
now at launch this multiplayer was the futuristic call of duty that some of the fans where looking for a good improvement from advanced warfare yes the abilities where inspired (or otherwise copied from destiny)but they are fun to use and a welcome change to the game to mix it up a bit but my experience with the multiplayer varies however example
one game can be really fun close match with an even amount of score streak's used on both sides
the next game just gets spoiled because i had a few games where i get the raps killstreak and as soon as i deploy them everyone on the enemy them rage quits out desperately trying Harding to protect their kds the community of this game seam to be really poor sports and i don't know if i should blame the education system or cod for this type of behavior and what activison did with the supply drops is disgraceful to say the least

Treyarch's latest Black Ops is yet another dose of what you would expect from Call of Duty with a healthy serving of what you wouldn't. It doesn't quite shake things up in the ways the pervious Black Ops titles have, but in the areas it does it truly delivers something fresh. It's just a shame there isn't more innovation overall.

The majority of the changes affect campaign. For starters this time around it's can be played in four player co-op. Getting together with some friends and tackling it on a higher difficulties is a nice change of pace from the typical solo-only campaigns of previous COD games. Of course you can still play it on your own, and there are plenty of new things going on to ensure that you are having a blast regardless of whether or not you have some friends along for the ride.

Massive boss battles against robots, new special abilities to experiment with, and wider environments all lead to more exciting firefights. You get a lot of freedom to choose your play-style this time around. The more open battlegrounds and the ability to choose you own load-out for the campaign means that you can approach from any angle and attack any way you see fit. This all due to the addition of a co-op option. It goes a long way to spice things up, even if the AI isn't always the brightest.

As far as the story goes, it experiments with some cool ideas, but is overall muddled and confused. It lacks the strong focus and villain of the previous Black Ops games. The performances are great, but not all of the characters get attention. A big issue with the villains here. While the story is awkward it at least allows for some crazy things to happen. Stuff you wouldn't expect from COD. You'll jump into people's minds, watch the world literally transform around you, and swim through rivers of blood. For all of it's flawed writing it kept me engaged thanks to nailing the insanity factor and having some awesome action.

That's not all the storytelling this game has to offer though. Beat the not so standard campaign and the "Nightmare" campaign unlocks. This mode has you replaying the original campaign with a new story and all the enemies replaced with zombies. The story itself is uninteresting and even more confusing, but the way it comes off as a cheesy survival-horror version of COD makes it a blast. It's something I would love to see return in future COD games. Just like the main campaign, it's playable in co-op.

Speaking of zombies the always enjoyable Zombies mode the Black Ops series is known for makes it's return in it's biggest offering yet. There's a massive map to explore and the mode is filled with tons of new things to experiment with. New enemy types, mysterious items, new powers, and "gobblegum" make this the most unique offering yet. These additions don't reinvent the wheel as the core experience is very familiar, and you have to figure out how these new elements work on your own, but they go along way to making things more interesting. It's just a shame some of the variants of the mode that were present in Black Ops 2 didn't make their return. Zombies feels rather bare bones this time around.

The returning Dead Ops Arcade and the new Free Run mode round out the rest of the single-/co-op options. The former of which has been expanded upon in numerous ways to make it a very satisfying return indeed. Free Run mode is basically a few trial maps dedicated to showing off the new movement system you'll find in multiplayer that is very similar to Titanfall. Aside from helping you master the new wall-running, jetpack movements you can also set best times. I personally didn't find it really interesting, but it's a pretty cool addition either way that I'm sure some people will get a kick out of.

As always the real hook of the series has been the multiplayer. Black Ops 3 offers more of the same. The new mobility options are nice and can give those who take the time to master it a real edge, but overall it doesn't do much to shake things up. The ability to swim and fight underwater is cool, and the new powers brought on by the specialist characters are a nice new additions that are an appreciated and noticeable difference, but they just can't shake the sense of deja vu brought on by the multiplayer. It's disappointing, but not an entirely bad thing. The series multiplayer is still just as strong and as tight as ever, so it's still a very enjoyable experience.

Black Ops 3 is the most content rich Call of Duty yet. No matter what you are looking for be it single-player, co-op, or competitive gameplay it delivers. It's not the most revolutionary entry in the series, but does enough new to make it worth a look for series fans. It's a large serving of the new and the very familiar. Yet even where it stumbles and feels overly similar to previous COD games, there's a little something new around the corner to still make it noteworthy. This isn't Treyarch's or the series magnum opus. It's just a fun, large COD game.

Campaign 4/10: The story line is straight up terrible. No character development at all whatsoever. The characters are simply not memorable and the story is a confusing mess of nonsense. Cybernetic Core abilities are a complete rip from Bioshock. However, load-out customization is fun and adds a new element to the game.

Multiplayer 8/10: I have enjoyed the multiplayer a lot. Many different game types, some new and some old. Camo unlocks are fun to complete. Spawn systems are broken sometimes and many players tend to use the same top-tier guns (kuda).

Zombies 7/10: Shadows of evil is very similar to Mob of the Dead from black ops 3. Pack-a-punch takes a large process to open, so it takes a while to set up to actually start completing waves. Gun customization and leveling allows the player to improve wall gun purchases giving them an advantage. New perk, widows wine, is very effective and fun to use. Boss waves and different enemies mix up the gameplay and keep the player engaged and aware. DLC maps not included in this review.

THE BLACK MARKET: The Black Market is one of the biggest scams I have ever seen in microtransaction history. With dlc weapons added to the black market, activision has gross millions of dollars by selling players virtually nothing. I made the mistake of spending $20 on cod points for the BM. DO NOT SPEND MONEY ON COD POINTS! The chances of you actually getting one of the rare weapons is very slim. I also have an extremely hard time believing that the odds of getting rare stuff is the same whether you spend COD points or Cryptokeys. Most of the time you get useless stuff, such as the dust camo, mustache decal, or a legendary attachment. Armor makes the game feel childish with rainbow helmets and pink armor... Taunts are funny at first, but get annoying seeing the same ones over and over again.

As far as the campaign, it's fine. It's jut kind of there to play through and has an interesting story, with some very twisted events (typical of the Black Ops formula). I enjoyed it, but again, that's not why most people typically purchase these games.

The multiplayer is fantastic. It's addicting. It's fast, frenetic, varied (thanks to the specialist classes and cool kill streaks) and overall just fun to jump into. I honestly have started to see why the level progression system is so addicting as well. You really get a sense of accomplishment with just about everything you do. It's borderline "gold-star for trying", but still makes you want to keep going nonetheless. Let's be honest, everyone likes a sense of achievement and progression.

The movement is fast, fluid, and easy to pick up. The maps are laid out in a way that encourages many types of play, although sniping is still pretty much a fast paced game still. I miss the long distance days from MW1 and MW2. I like to move fast with SMGs, and many of these smaller maps encourage movement, which I enjoy. However, if you want to take it slow with an LMG, have at it! All the maps can be approached with different playstyles and it makes for fun competition.

This is also one of the most complete packages yet. The new zombies mode is a ton of fun and is HUGE. It has its own ranking system as well, which is a nice change. In addition there is an entirely separate campaign that mimics the story mode, yet is full of zombies. It's fun and refreshing overall. Add in those modes to the campaign, multiplayer, and other goodies thrown in, and you just get a lot for your heard earned money here.

If you haven't liked COD in a while, this is the game to get you back into it.

When I started playing the missions, I thought I would be in for epic boss battles that I needed to use my high tech abilities to get through but really I went through most of the game barely using any of them and basically run and gunned my way through all the game like I have done in every other COD game of late.

I know a lot of people have complained about this game being boring (which it is at times) but for me, this should have been called "COD BO3 lets go nuts with grenades!" as every level I was having grenade after grenade thrown at me by the "AI" which left them open to shot and made each level repetitive as f*ck.

The zombies mode is nothing more than an advert to sell micro transactions and shill the upcoming DLC which is a real shame as this mode had me interested more than the rest of the games offerings.

Multiplayer is still the same but feeling so tired and unimaginative, Activision are going to ride COD into the dirt at this rate unless they are prepared to start pushing the limits and create a multi player offering that's new and fresh!

Such a let down on what should have been COD's return to form especially since you had Ben Browder as the players voice actor! seriously how can you screw up have him and still have a lame story.

Online multiplayer is sad. Spawn killing constantly. Shotguns are over powered. Cartoonish weapon selections. Just sad. I was really disappointed. The biggest problem is the spawn killing. There are times when I watch people spawn and then I kill them and vice versa. It is almost like the game was too fast for them to handle or they have not established a proper spawn system.

I first started on the multiplayer because I like to be with others and be social. The multiplayer was so bad that I uninstalled it from my Xbox and did not want to progress through the game. What pisses me off is that a broken game can be sold for $60. Let me explain, every time I move in this game the frame rate shifts and goes down and its not lag because this happens all the time to when I just got this game. Most of my other games only lag on occasions and no where near as bad as this. So ya, its literally almost unplayable for me. What makes it worse is that the game tries too hard to be edgy and not true to itself. For an example people can jet up literally 20 feet over you while you try to shoot them on ground and then kill you. They ripped off a good game like Titanfall with their **** wall run version. On Titanfall, wall jumping it is smooth and feels like you are actually running on walls. On Blackops3 you are literally walking on the walls slowly with a clunky feeling while other players can make you an easy target. The worst part of all is when players slide on the ground to kill you. It happens so fast that it is literally imposable for me to kill them. Overall If they got rid of the edgy Faze/Optic look alike perks in the game and not sell an unpatched broken game then it might have been a good game. Their is good to this game as well like the visuals and the overall style of the game. It sadly doesn't help it when it's unplayable. The kill streaks have some good to them but the new ones that they added in just for this game are ridiculously overpowered and look stupid, for an example, these stupid rolling explosive spike balls and these fire fly traps that pop out bugs. Oh and the showing of the top three players dancing at the end of a match is unneeded. In conclusion I have learned that it is not a good idea to use the download method of buying games on my Xbox because then you cant refund this $ 60 waste Expand

And on top of that, there are less ARs in this game than in any previous Black Ops game. Using SMGs all day long gets very repetitive and makes the game all the more bland. The maps are all mediocre, no classics here like Firing Range, Raid, of Standoff. The campaign is the worst to date with a lame story and incredibly boring gameplay with minimal level design. Expand

I have not completed the entire campaign so I cannot give a thorough review on it but so far so good. The zombies gameplay is much tougher than that of the past zombies. The map is very large and difficult to navigate around. Overall I'd say this game is a huge step up from other call of duty's and I will continue to play and enjoy it. Expand

The game is fast paced, camping doesn't seem to be much of a problem, the connection is almost always rock solid, and the movement system is a HUGE step up from AW. Zombies is OK, but if want a really good experience, then your going to have to search for a tutorial. I would recommend this game If you have a bad taste from AW because this game is not AW. While it's not different, it does everything 10x better. Expand

The voiceovers in the multiplayer make me want to puke in disgust. I don't appreciate bad language, but even I know that even the cusswords in this game are used in a corny way. Multiplayer really is genuinely broken. I have yet to play a second match that works seamlessly. Whoever the idiot is that came up with lag compensation needs to be fired, but even then, other games that have it are at least playable. Activision is too dumb and money-focused to realize that no one has liked any of their games since they implemented it, with the exception of BO2 (which I love, but admit that it still doesn't work right). If you like instant deaths and no hit-markers, BUY. There seem to be only 5% to 10% of players that are not affected by it, and they are always the ones going 27-4. I am a very good COD player and I literally CAN NOT get my KD above .85. Zombies is impossible by yourself, and even with help, you have to play flawlessly to beat it... Waaaaay too hard. With all this said, I have one last thing to say: "SOLD!" Because I no longer own this game and will be occupying myself with Battlefield 4, a quality, functional game. Expand

Campaign is a stale borefest riddled with horrendous voice acting, a confusing and poorly-explained plot, and utterly infuriating AI that spam grenades from sunrise to sunset.

Zombies is more of the same, and there's only ONE map. Lord knows Treyarch is going to shake you down for another 50 bucks via the season pass so you can get what is almost a complete experience there.

Multiplayer is an absolute **** with short TTK's and ludicrously out-of-control parkour movement mechanics combining into a **** of acrobatic instakill **** Killstreak diversity has been trimmed down instead of expanded, the guns all perform the same giving players little incentive to try different ones, specialist abilities only add to the imbalance since they recharge automatically and charges carry over through death, the maps are generally poor in layout and design, and the spawn system is absolutely completely broken, with enemies spawning in droves right in front of your eyes.

This game isn't even worth being put in the bargain bin. It belongs in the city landfill with the rest of humanity's refuse. It's so bad that it's actually insulting to anyone who paid full price for a copy.

The game Its self is ok when you start it but then the lag switching gets way out of control and they do a horrible job at handling it. This really messes up your kd and score per min and makes the game bad and un-enjoyable this problem really needs to be addressed or else the game will continue to be bad and un-enjoyable.

I think we all hoped Black Ops III would hail a new era for the Call of Duty franchise. Unfortunately, a mixture of dodgy and slightly clunky feeling movement mechanics, age-old issues and drag and drop ideas from other franchises has left this Call of Duty feeling cobbled together and inconsistent, although the graphics really do help this game achieve the 5 I gave it. Unfortunately, a mixture of dodgy and slightly clunky feeling movement mechanics, age-old issues and drag and drop ideas from other franchises has left this Call of Duty feeling cobbled together and inconsistent, although the graphics really do help this game achieve the 5 I gave it. The campaign tries to do something special with it's story, allowing for 4 player co-op, a new special ability upgrade system and even character customization but ultimately it all falls apart. The story is downright confusing, and is clearly designed for Black Ops IV leaving an unsatisfying conclusion, the 4 player co-op is nice - but why bother when you've got the far superior zombie mode? The various upgrades and custom classes in the campaign is nice, but really it's just an extension of what was achieved in Black Ops 2. In fact, i'd go so far to say that this is a step BACKWARDS for the franchise. Black Ops II had branching storylines, tactical strike force missions and the whole thing felt epic and well thought out with an, admittedly, over the top story - all of that is gone in Black Ops III, with a linear, confusing story replacing it. What a shame. And you can play it all again with zombies! (I'd highly recommend Nightmares mode though, it makes more sense than the normal campaign)

On to multiplayer, and this year Treyarch attempts to spice things up by introducing Specialists. Playable characters that have their own backstories and each have an ability or weapon that you can choose from. However, I found these more annoying than beneficial. Finally getting your death machine (sorry, Scythe) and losing it after dying was ragequit inducing rather than fun. In the end, I just rocked with the Commando Lunge knife called the "Ripper" because it was the one you earned fastest. There's very little tactical counterplay between specialists, it's just pick one and annihilate. Also some of them specialists are just plain bad ideas that, in Call of Duty fashion, somehow make it into the final game - for example, there is one specialist, Nomad, who has a 6-round unavoidable trip-mine grenade launcher and a "Final Stand" specialist ability. Why? No idea - but the team at Treyarch thought (incorrectly) that it would be a good idea. Other than that, it's largely Black Ops II with thruster packs. Seriously. Pick 10 is back. Scorestreaks are back. Did they reinvent Scorestreaks and add some exciting new ones to fit in with the 2065 setting? Nope. They are literally copy and paste from Black Ops II. There's maybe 5 new Scorestreaks? Unacceptable for a 3 year development game. While I appreciate the Pick 10 system, I still do not understand why a smoke grenade is the same value as a Light Machine Gun - it makes certain things completely void because nobody will use them. Customization in this game is limited, with each specialist character having their own outfits... with two variations of outfit... each with around 6 different colour schemes. Yeah, it's that basic. However, I do appreciate the Paintshop and Gunsmith options - they're pretty cool ideas and worked out well - though I wish my named gun was shown during a match. Something I don't appreciate however is Unlock Tokens, these essentially block you from unlocking everything FORCING you to prestige if you want to experience the whole game. What an awful idea.

Finally on to zombies, and - well, for 3 years... it isn't great. They've added a new "Gobblegum" system that gives you temporary perks which is a cool idea but, for the powerful ones, you have to spend Liquid Divinium's to spin a Vat which gives you a random one, which is used up if you eat it in game. Unfortunately, this was a ploy to sell you Liquid Divinium's because you can now buy them with real life cash. The zombie map, Shadows of Evil, is okay. It has a surprisingly steep learning curve and it has the amazing ability of making not want to play zombies because of it. To Pack a Punch, you need to do 4 "Survive in a certain area" type challenges, kill 3, 3-headed monsters that can one hit you and gather some worms. It's too difficult for the casual audience and makes the game unnecessarily difficult, which puts you off playing the game.

To conclude, Black Ops III is a mediocre game that has a lot of content, but not much quality. If you can get it cheap, and I mean cheap, it's worth picking up - otherwise don't bother.

I was absolutely astonished & amazed at just how bad this game was.

First of all, the Performance: Immediately from the first few moments of the campaign you will notice the game struggles to reach 30fps you will get 20-45 fps across the campaign. Considering the resolution is barely any more than 720p the frame rate a joke. AW didn't hit 1080p on XBO but still had a better resolution

Considering the resolution is barely any more than 720p the frame rate a joke. AW didn't hit 1080p on XBO but still had a better resolution and a consistent 60fps.

Now lots of games on consoles are still stuck at 30fps, that's fine, but BO3 clearly aims for 60 and fails to reach it at any point in the campaign. I wish it just stuck with 30fps, it would of maybe been able to stick with it.

The framerate constantly dropping from 45 to 20 up and down gives you a massive headache, more so when all the games cut scenes are locked at 30, when it is smooth & you go to open a door & your character interacts with it, its noticeable and really does hurt your eyes.

Graphics: Looks notably worse than AW, clearly the developers don’t understand XBO hardware or architecture due to just how bad this game looks with the performance it brings. You can't blame the PS4 or XBO when AW looked so much better at a higher framerate and resolution.

The campaign story is taken right out of an old terrible B-movie script; It's shameful it's set in the same universe as black ops 2 which had a far better story in comparison. The story barely references the previous 2 games and instead goes on about AI and machines taking over, so that leads to gameplay.

Gameplay: Terrible AI, no stealth segments, boring enemies to fight, fighting robots reminded me of Star Trek Elite force fighting Species 8472, easy-to-kill enemies that charge for you and you easily kill before they get close then explode in visually terrible effects.

You may have noticed I’ve tried to break up my review here in bits but they keep leaking into each other, every bad thing about this game makes something else bad worse.

Split screen: I played a good long session with a friend via split screen one night, it was on a 1366x768 TV and even on that I could tell the game was more blurry then my other games, the kill feed, you know the text on the hud that says who was killed by who and by what, yea, could not even read that, it was so pixelated I couldn't even make out my own gamertag.

Multiplayer: Thankfully the only good part of the game is that multiplayer sticks to 60fps, but it's at a cost of looking even worse than the campaign & it’s still at a low resolution, I wouldn't even call it a positive as we all expect a cod game to be 60fps anyway.

I really didn't play the multiplayer enough to compare to previous cods all that much, thankfully lots more review here have done, all I can say is, after mine and my friends session on BO3, the next week we had a session on AW and it was far more fun, more fluid, better looking & just better all around.

Long story short, it's a failure, they could not get it to run at an acceptable level, It's broken, the fact they shipped this game in its current state is an insult to consumers.

Don't waste your money, buy AW again if you traded it in or buy the season pass, you will have far more fun, or get the old ps3/xb360 out go back onto black ops 2, it's a much better game & looks better at 1080p!

Now, I know it's a popular opinion, making this somewhat boring. So I'll simply get to the point: this game and series are failed prodigies, to say the least.

The multiplayer is broken, thanks to instant kills, not allowing any real skills. The single player is broken, thanks to boring and representative game-play that never shifts or gets even slightly interesting. And the story isn't

First of all; was it really that hard to get the campaign on old-gen consoles? At least the local one. I personally don't think it innovated anything, yes, the graphics were amazing but, that aside I didn't find it special, the fact I could choose the face of my character I thought was pretty awesome but then, not even a frigging name?! Seriously?! Anyway, I'm fully disappointed with the campaign generally, heck, I liked Advanced Warfare better.
As for multiplayer, it's exactly the same thing as Black Ops 2 which could be both ways; good or bad. I liked it because it FEELS like Black Ops but also I am quite disappointed that we anxiously waited for it and it's exactly the same thing with just a tiny bit of adjustments.
Zombies is the only thing I personally believe is salvageable from the game, even if it's the same concept as the previous Black Ops, it does give us a new chapter on the story following this whole chaos so I think the effort of something worth playing was made on zombies... And I'm not even that much of a fan for zombie maps.
So, in conclusion, I'm highly disappointed, maybe my expectations were extremely high, maybe I expected too much of this game but in the end, I feel like turning my 360 on and play the first two Black Ops.

Can't believe i'm going to say this, but for now you should put more stock in the critic score than user score. At least when it comes to CoD. Don't know why it's so cool to hate Call of Duty. I guess it's just easier to be a joiner. People who rated this game 0 or 1 have never played a honest 0 game in their life.

A great game despite its flaws. The campaign could be more but still manages to be a great experience if you look past the first few missions. Multiplayer is a blast and makes up for the inadequacies found in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. If you're a fan of Call of Duty, this will appeal to you. While the formula doesn't take risks, it still works.

If you play CoD for the campaign, Black Ops III is a low point featuring a confusing and uninteresting story, poor pacing, cheesy dialogue and over-the-top voice acting that results in a story that resembles what the outcome would be if you dropped the cast of Team America: World Police on the set of Inception or Source Code.

Treyarch may not always hit its targets, but this remains a genuinely fresh take on an old sub-series in an even older franchise. A game as well-oiled as its cyborgian characters. [Christmas 2015, p.60]
