(Mainly based off zombies because I play it 99% of the time) good solid game and multiplayer is good, in zombies you have shadows of evil where when the easter egg is done rictofen from origins takes the summoning key and kills the version of him from world at war to black ops 2 before origins, in the giant which is a remake of der reis from world at war, then rictofen and his friends dempsey, takeo and nikolai go to dlc #1 (just saving words by saying dlc and whatever number it is) kill old dempsey, after that dlc #2 where old takeo kills himself after finding out the Japanese empires emperor sent him to there, then dlc#3 where you kill old nikolai, after that the ending of bo3 dlc#4 where you kill the shadow man then dr monty sends you to origins again then starts a cycle that gets broken in bo4, then they did dlc#5 zombie chronicles that re made maps like nacht der toten, verruckt, shino numa, shang ri la and origins. When this game came out my parents finally let me play Call of Duty, but only at friends' houses. I put so many hours into the multiplayer it's mind-boggling. The zombies is also fantastic, and one of the most fun in the series. The campaign is horrible tho. Train go boom am I right?

BO3 is my favorite CoD since well... BO2 lol. It has a decent multiplayer, decent campaign, decent everything but nothing particularly special overall. It was obviously inspired by Titanfall which I find to be much more fun despite the lack of content.

I am going to start with what I hate. The first thing is the specialist abilities. Know I am not saying that those abilities are terrible but the campaign had some really nice specialist abilities, and yet they don't even use them in a multiplayer where the games campaign is based of of the DNI. The other thing I hate is the wait time between dying in a zombies game, and going to the lobby Expand

Thankfully, the multiplayer is an improvement over Advanced Warfare's. It tones down the high jumping and introduces "Specialists", soldiers that can activate a unique ability. Unfortunately, the story mode is the worst entry in the series' history. It is a convoluted, bizarre cyberpunk tale that recalls "Ghost in the Shell" and "Source Code". Gameplay-wise, the campaign resembles "Deus Ex" more than a COD game. It's decent if you play cooperatively, but a total slog if you go solo. Overall, "Black Ops III" is not a masterpiece, but is perfectly entertaining. I would rate it with an 8.2 out of 10. Expand

Probably the most complete game in the series
We all play call of duty games for different reasons, and all of those reasons are present in black ops 3, theres zombies mode for the gamer girls and teenage boys with 14 different maps to get your wave mode on, theres multiplayer with its jetpacks and sliding and wall climbing with all of the classic modes, pretty decent maps, but theres a destiny like addition with these moves you can pull of tht recharge as you play through the match, and there are multiple different moves for you to choose from to change strategies fo different match types.. I don’t really have much to say about the multiplayer because its not really what I play for, its fun, its addictive. But im here for the campaign which is where this special move is pulled from…
And I was pleasantly surprised with what we get here with black ops 3..
This isn’t my favorite campaign in the series, but I feel this campaign is by far the coolest.. it doesn’t even feel like a call of duty campaign, this could’ve easily been a standalone ip as it tells the story of man vs machine, and this campaign is a hefty 10 hours long give or take depending on the difficulty, I played half of the campaign on easy and half of it on hard..
And this campaign does so many cool things..
at the beginning of the store a robot just rips you apart so you spend the rest of the game as an augmented human, but of course the agments and the dni is being messed with, controlling the minds of your comrads, you spend the game trying to get to the bottom of this…
With these augments youre able to do crazy things, each mission you cn choose if you want moves for control, chaos, or combat.. I played mostly with chaos as I felt there was an equal balance of attacks I could use against humans as well as robots, also It allows you to unleash these fireflied that eat the humans in your wy and you get to sing the fireflies song while they do that..
but there are multiple ways you can playthrough this campaign thanks to these controls, such as hackig everything and taking control watch dogs style if youd like…
the first half of the campaign I felt to be pretty soulless though..
I felt like I was really just going through the motions.. but as the story goes on things just get weirder and weirder an I would have to stop myself to remind myself that this is indeed a call of duty game..
and a war vs robots.. they play with illusions and memories here, its nice to see that the team was let of the leash and allowed to be free, and they crated something truly unique..
Though this campaign does suffer pacing problems and annoyances if you are playing on higher difficulties..
Checkpoints can be infuriating at times and theres this giant wall of garbage in the final chapter that I just couldn’t take anymore on hard because of its infinite spawning drones and robots.. this mission felt completely unbalanced for the difficulty, its jus just not fun or fair to have infinite drones that can kill you in 1 or 2 his while youre trying to weaken a larger enemy yards away to get in one rocket shot at a time with no progress being saved while you do this.. on top of that friendly fire is on and your team mates will run in front of you instantly failing the mission..
I just didn’t have the patience AFTER CHIPPING away at this mission for what was at least an hour…
though this was the only section of the game that I found to be unfair and unbalanced..
I didn’t necessarily have fun with this campaign, but I ultimately appreciate it for trying new things
showing players that call of duty is its buttery smooth shooting more than its military focus don’t get me wrong, this is still a military based campaign.. but its so far in the background that you hardly notice, I wouldn’t mind if call of duty contined to let one of its teams play around with its campaigns like it did here and actually step away from military a but, I dubt that would happen, but with this game I see the possibility..
I give Call of Duty Black Ops 3
    a 7.5/10

Black Ops III is a perfectly entertaining FPS, but it's not a masterpiece. In fact, fans of the previous BLOPS games will be disappointed that it isn't a conclusion to the Alex Mason story. It is, however, loaded to the gills with plenty of content and most of it is solid. Surprisingly, this game doesn't resemble its Cold War-set predecessors or even the Michael Bay-influenced "ModernBlack Ops III is a perfectly entertaining FPS, but it's not a masterpiece. In fact, fans of the previous BLOPS games will be disappointed that it isn't a conclusion to the Alex Mason story. It is, however, loaded to the gills with plenty of content and most of it is solid. Surprisingly, this game doesn't resemble its Cold War-set predecessors or even the Michael Bay-influenced "Modern Warfare" games. Instead, it is a bleak and violent cyberpunk adventure that blends elements of "Ghost In the Shell" with "Deux Ex" and "Metal Gear Solid 4". Adult anime is an obvious influence.

Story-wise, it is a flash forward to the dark future hinted in "Black Ops II". With a convoluted story and a bizarre ending, this game is the "Bioshock Infinite" of the franchise except without the subtlety. Graphically violent and dark to the extreme, the campaign will be remembered for its ambitions, if not for its storytelling. The franchise's trademark of Hollywood setpieces is still present, but you'll most likely remember the endless shootouts with drones and robots. It can get a little boring, even with fellow players. The campaign can be played with four others, but it is easily one of Treyarch's worst despite the addition of "Bioshock"-like powers.

While the story mode is distinguished with its graphic content and future setting, the multiplayer stays true to the COD online formula with a few changes. Call it the "Destiny" influence, but Activision seems to have placed some elements of their newest IP into "Black Ops III". Multiplayer now includes 8 different classes of soldiers each with their own special attacks and abilities. Also, you can now purchase chests from a "Gunsmith" with "Cryptocoins" (a form of currency earned). These chests include Common and Rare weapons, skins, attachments and various goodies. Of course, Treyarch's "Zombies" has returned and is now spread into three different modes; "Shadow of Evil" (an evolution of past Zombie maps), "Dead Ops II" (a retro 2D shooter) and "Nightmare" (a remixed campaign featuring zombies). Treyarch has also included deep weapon customization, a few "Mirror's Edge"-inspired race challenges and a combat training arena that recalls the VR missions from "Metal Gear Solid".

Overall, "Black Ops III" is a monster when it comes to content. It's an even more ambitious game than the surprisingly good "Advanced Warfare". But with a muddy narrative, a forgettable campaign and a pointless split-screen option (the graphics resemble a PS3 game), it's not as good as it could've been. However, multiplayer is still strong and the amount of quality content Treyarch packed into the disc is somewhat astounding. It may not be the best in the franchise, but I'd rank this latest COD with an 8.4 out of 10.

Fans expect the next call of duty to be even better with another award winning multiplayer, gritty campaign, and a zombie mode. With Black Ops 2 and Advanced warfare both being great hits, can Black Ops 3 live up to the franchises expectations of greatness? There are many new things in Call of Duty Black Ops 3 that makes it clearly different from the other previous games. It is set in a futuristic time period similar to Advanced Warfare, but what sets it aside from it is the difference in game mechanics. Unlike Advanced Warfare, where the game is based around clunky double jumping at every opportunity, the movement mechanics in Black Ops 3 are fluent and feel very well thought out. Also it still maintains its feel of a call of duty game. The developers introduced new specialist classes that have their own unique weapon, customizability, and abilities that are separate from a killstreak but are treated in the same manner. As always they introduced new weapons that are well balanced and unique from one another and new multiplayer maps. The game has been regularly updated with new content and patches that do not need to be purchased, however it will have additional content later down the line that will need to be purchased for additional multiplayer maps, weapons and customizable content. The black market is another interesting new feature that they introduced, allowing players to earn money in game and spend it on a random generated items, but can also be purchased using real money. Aside from the the 12 year old cussing players that plague the gaming community, this game earns a 8/10 in my book for its originality. It’s fun to play when you want to play a few quick games and everything from the movement to the map creation feels very good. The only major bad things this game suffers from, just like its predecessors, is the lack of teamwork in team based games, the introduction of micro transactions and the required purchase of additional content. But don’t be mistaken this game is still very well worth your time and has more than enough content with the base purchase to satisfy any gamers needs. Expand

Treyarch's latest Black Ops is yet another dose of what you would expect from Call of Duty with a healthy serving of what you wouldn't. Treyarch's latest Black Ops is yet another dose of what you would expect from Call of Duty with a healthy serving of what you wouldn't. It doesn't quite shake things up in the ways the pervious Black Ops titles have, but in the areas it does it truly delivers something fresh. It's just a shame there isn't more innovation overall.

The majority of the changes affect campaign. For starters this time around it's can be played in four player co-op. Getting together with some friends and tackling it on a higher difficulties is a nice change of pace from the typical solo-only campaigns of previous COD games. Of course you can still play it on your own, and there are plenty of new things going on to ensure that you are having a blast regardless of whether or not you have some friends along for the ride.

Massive boss battles against robots, new special abilities to experiment with, and wider environments all lead to more exciting firefights. You get a lot of freedom to choose your play-style this time around. The more open battlegrounds and the ability to choose you own load-out for the campaign means that you can approach from any angle and attack any way you see fit. This all due to the addition of a co-op option. It goes a long way to spice things up, even if the AI isn't always the brightest.

As far as the story goes, it experiments with some cool ideas, but is overall muddled and confused. It lacks the strong focus and villain of the previous Black Ops games. The performances are great, but not all of the characters get attention. A big issue with the villains here. While the story is awkward it at least allows for some crazy things to happen. Stuff you wouldn't expect from COD. You'll jump into people's minds, watch the world literally transform around you, and swim through rivers of blood. For all of it's flawed writing it kept me engaged thanks to nailing the insanity factor and having some awesome action.

That's not all the storytelling this game has to offer though. Beat the not so standard campaign and the "Nightmare" campaign unlocks. This mode has you replaying the original campaign with a new story and all the enemies replaced with zombies. The story itself is uninteresting and even more confusing, but the way it comes off as a cheesy survival-horror version of COD makes it a blast. It's something I would love to see return in future COD games. Just like the main campaign, it's playable in co-op.

Speaking of zombies the always enjoyable Zombies mode the Black Ops series is known for makes it's return in it's biggest offering yet. There's a massive map to explore and the mode is filled with tons of new things to experiment with. New enemy types, mysterious items, new powers, and "gobblegum" make this the most unique offering yet. These additions don't reinvent the wheel as the core experience is very familiar, and you have to figure out how these new elements work on your own, but they go along way to making things more interesting. It's just a shame some of the variants of the mode that were present in Black Ops 2 didn't make their return. Zombies feels rather bare bones this time around.

The returning Dead Ops Arcade and the new Free Run mode round out the rest of the single-/co-op options. The former of which has been expanded upon in numerous ways to make it a very satisfying return indeed. Free Run mode is basically a few trial maps dedicated to showing off the new movement system you'll find in multiplayer that is very similar to Titanfall. Aside from helping you master the new wall-running, jetpack movements you can also set best times. I personally didn't find it really interesting, but it's a pretty cool addition either way that I'm sure some people will get a kick out of.

As always the real hook of the series has been the multiplayer. Black Ops 3 offers more of the same. The new mobility options are nice and can give those who take the time to master it a real edge, but overall it doesn't do much to shake things up. The ability to swim and fight underwater is cool, and the new powers brought on by the specialist characters are a nice new additions that are an appreciated and noticeable difference, but they just can't shake the sense of deja vu brought on by the multiplayer. It's disappointing, but not an entirely bad thing. The series multiplayer is still just as strong and as tight as ever, so it's still a very enjoyable experience.

Black Ops 3 is the most content rich Call of Duty yet. No matter what you are looking for be it single-player, co-op, or competitive gameplay it delivers. It's not the most revolutionary entry in the series, but does enough new to make it worth a look for series fans. It's a large serving of the new and the very familiar. Yet even where it stumbles and feels overly similar to previous COD games, there's a little something new around the corner to still make it noteworthy. This isn't Treyarch's or the series magnum opus. It's just a fun, large COD game.

As far as the campaign, it's fine. It's jut kind of there to play through and has an interesting story, with some very twisted events (typical of the Black Ops formula). I enjoyed it, but again, that's not why most people typically purchase these games.

The multiplayer is fantastic. It's addicting. It's fast, frenetic, varied (thanks to the specialist classes and cool kill streaks) and overall just fun to jump into. I honestly have started to see why the level progression system is so addicting as well. You really get a sense of accomplishment with just about everything you do. It's borderline "gold-star for trying", but still makes you want to keep going nonetheless. Let's be honest, everyone likes a sense of achievement and progression.

The movement is fast, fluid, and easy to pick up. The maps are laid out in a way that encourages many types of play, although sniping is still pretty much a fast paced game still. I miss the long distance days from MW1 and MW2. I like to move fast with SMGs, and many of these smaller maps encourage movement, which I enjoy. However, if you want to take it slow with an LMG, have at it! All the maps can be approached with different playstyles and it makes for fun competition.

This is also one of the most complete packages yet. The new zombies mode is a ton of fun and is HUGE. It has its own ranking system as well, which is a nice change. In addition there is an entirely separate campaign that mimics the story mode, yet is full of zombies. It's fun and refreshing overall. Add in those modes to the campaign, multiplayer, and other goodies thrown in, and you just get a lot for your heard earned money here.

If you haven't liked COD in a while, this is the game to get you back into it.

Overall I have been pretty pleased with the quality and new features this call of duty brings to the playing field. I have enjoyed a couple of the past call of duty's, but this one seems to be a lot more technologically advanced. I have not completed the entire campaign so I cannot give a thorough review on it but so far so good. The zombies gameplay is much tougher than that of the past zombies. The map is very large and difficult to navigate around. Overall I'd say this game is a huge step up from other call of duty's and I will continue to play and enjoy it. Expand

Let me get this out of the way first, I DON"T CARE ABOUT CAMPAIGN. There that's done. No. on to the good bits. I find myself enjoying this game the more I play it. The game is fast paced, camping doesn't seem to be much of a problem, the connection is almost always rock solid, and the movement system is a HUGE step up from AW. Zombies is OK, but if want a really good experience, then your going to have to search for a tutorial. I would recommend this game If you have a bad taste from AW because this game is not AW. While it's not different, it does everything 10x better. Expand

I definitely love the game I just don't like how you can only play 2 players on local that is the worst part about this game it really angers me when people come over but only two of us can play.

A great game despite its flaws. The campaign could be more but still manages to be a great experience if you look past the first few missions. Multiplayer is a blast and makes up for the inadequacies found in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare. If you're a fan of Call of Duty, this will appeal to you. While the formula doesn't take risks, it still works.

If you play CoD for the campaign, Black Ops III is a low point featuring a confusing and uninteresting story, poor pacing, cheesy dialogue and over-the-top voice acting that results in a story that resembles what the outcome would be if you dropped the cast of Team America: World Police on the set of Inception or Source Code.

Treyarch may not always hit its targets, but this remains a genuinely fresh take on an old sub-series in an even older franchise. A game as well-oiled as its cyborgian characters. [Christmas 2015, p.60]
