    It’s hard to be critical of Brotherhood United on Xbox One and its many bruised edges. Sure, it looks like a knock-off, and the platforming stinks, but it sets such a low bar that it clears it. It wants to give you three hours of no-nonsense action, switching out difficulty for a sense of momentum, and it does it all for a budget price. It’s more Seagal than Stallone, then, but some days are Under Siege days.

    Brotherhood United is an 8bit 2D Run-N-Gun Platformer. You are a member of the brotherhood, and your pal and been taken. So you decide toBrotherhood United is an 8bit 2D Run-N-Gun Platformer. You are a member of the brotherhood, and your pal and been taken. So you decide to crack open a beer, grab your ammo and go get him back.You can also bring a friend with local co-op too! The game is fairly straight forward, you run, dodge, and shoot, trying to kill the enemies before they kill you. The game has a very contra feel to the game play, maybe not as hectic a bullet hell but otherwise similar game play. The aesthetic is kinda cute, almost bobble head appearance is offset by the fact that the game is actually a bit brutal. There are tons of weapons, and twenty levels to blast your way through. The story is enough to keep the game congruent, but the funs in the guns. Jumping gave me a bit of an issue, as the controls felt a tiny bit off, inconsistent. My jumps rarely felt the same twice, killed me on a few occasions. Overall Brotherhood United is a fun Retro style Run-N-Gun that'll scratch the Contra itch just enough.… Expand
