It’s smart, the jokes are funny, and the story is incredible with some excellent twists. I fell in love with its canvas visuals and character interactions, making this one of my favorite point-and-click adventure games in recent memory. It plays wonderfully on console and its charm is never lost. Its relatively short length isn’t a detriment in the slightest; It only encouraged me to fall for it over and over again.

Broken Age allows us to relive the golden age of point-and-click graphical adventures, delivering a pleasing art style and a good writing, even if not exempt of more boring moments. All in all, a good old-school adventure capable of pleasing even the more demanding players.

With Broken Age you have a superb musical score combined with stunning visuals and not to mention a thoughtful and emotional story. If you're a fan of Double Fine games, point and click adventures or just want to enjoy a great story, Broken Age is a title for you.

An adventure game with warmth, humour and heart, Broken Age is a joy from beginning to (almost) end. Easily among Double Fine's best.

Broken Age is a good game, just one which is let down by a few absurdly tough puzzles and a lack of freshness for the second Act of the story.

If we're not talking about gameplay, Broken Age is great. It presents a fun and detailed world to inhabit filled with silly characters and interesting plot developments. If we are talking about gameplay, Broken Age is just okay. It's a serviceable attempt at a point-and-click game that stumbles more than it should. This isn't the best adventure game to come out this year, but it's still an enjoyable ride.

Sadly, the game doesn't maintain this level of quality. The second act is just a Switcheroo version of the first one, which means no new areas or characters. Also, I could solve maybe only 50% of the game's puzzles from this point on on my own accord. I'm sure I could have driven that number up with the old "try everything on everything" method of Point-and-Click puzzle-solving, but I didn't want to waste my time and rather resorted to using a guide. Some of the stuff that the game throws at you, like the wire "puzzles", are really no fun at all and just tedious. Which is a shame because the first chapter was the rare exception in this genre where pretty much all of the puzzles made logical sense, while the second chapter devolves into typical "video game logic" obtuse nonsense a lot of the time.

So, in summary: Story: Great, but would've needed a stronger conclusion, too many threads are left hanging. Characters, writing, and world-building: Great. Voice acting: Good, if sometimes a little too subdued. Puzzle design: Great in the first Chapter, mediocre in the second one (which, unfortunately, is also quite a bit longer than the first one).

So, if you have Game Pass (or 15 bucks to spare) and like Tim Schafer's style, you might want to check it out. Just don't expect a masterpiece.

The voice acting is okay, and that leads me to believe this would have been better off as a animated movie. The levels seem disconnected and the puzzles are rather boring, making you go back and forth until something works rather then putting two and two together to solve the solution. Here trial and error is absent, and instead fetch quests infest the game. It is an okay point and click, but I can't find myself liking it, no matter how hard I try. Full Review »

This game, personally, has made me dream and enjoy each of its scenes. The more I played it, the more I liked it.
I recommend anyone who likes graphic adventures that does not miss this great game, because I am convinced that it will become one of their favorites.
