Popular games get liberally borrowed from all the time, yet Smash Bros. seems to have avoided this somehow. Brawlout takes on this challenge, but its lack of modes, iffy character balance and poor online offerings, all fail to inspire that same spark that Mario and friends have mastered so well. The basic gameplay is OK, but without the same love, spectacle and reverence to lean on, it all falls flat.

I loved trying out all the different characters in the game because each character has had a lot of thought and effort placed into them. TheI loved trying out all the different characters in the game because each character has had a lot of thought and effort placed into them. The gameplay truly shines when you play with friends because not only is it fun and exciting when played this way but it also packs a decent challenge as well.
There are a number of different stages available to you and I was pleased to see that each stage had a decent amount of variety present in them. Both the visuals and sound design carry quite a bit of charm in them and this in a way makes the gameplay that little bit more fun. When played on your own the game does get repetetive quite quickly and it’s definitely not as fun as playing with friends.
Unfortunately the game suffers with quite a few technichal issues and the long loading times don’t help matters either. If you want to unlock certain characters and items then you have to grind quite a lot and this does make things become a little on the tedious side. Does Brawlout do enough to get a recommendation from me? I’ve been following Brawlout’s development quite closely because Xbox One doesn’t have many game’s that are like this so my excitement levels were pretty high. Thankfully despite its few shortcomings I can see this game growing on me because when played with friends the game delivers in terms of fun and enjoyability quite a lot, and it would’ve definitely got a much higher score from me if certain problems didn’t exist. Thankfully though some of these problems can be eradicated with a patch or two and if you can handle the grinding that’s required in the game then your problems won’t be as severe as they will be for some. As it stands now though Brawlout does just enough to get a small recommendation from me because there is variety present in both the characters and stages and without a doubt its on the right path and in my opinion when they sort out the few niggling problems then Brawlout will be a very competent fighting game.

I bought this and rivals off aether at the same time, and rivals is way better. Too much needs to fixed or changed with this game to make it good.
In rivals you can do all sorts of special moves and every character is different with vastly different strengths and weaknesses.
This game is not like that at all.
Really hope it gets some improvements.
