    Book of Demons isn’t likely to hold the attention of hardcore dungeon crawl enthusiasts or those who don’t care for loot-heavy titles like this one. However, players who are new to this style of game or those looking for something on the simpler side would be well-served to check this one out.

    Book of Demons is a strange beast. It has some audio and gameplay issues that make it downright frustrating at points, but its concept is so novel that it’s still worth looking into regardless.

A darkness has spread across the land, and Evil has taken root beneath the cathedral. You are tasked with venturing down into the depths to conquer this evil and restore peace to the land. Sounds like your typical RPG, well it's not. Let's start with the graphics, as those are unique and impressive. The game is designed to look like papercraft and does a good job doing that. The animations are lost, as some of it's jumpy, and the rest of it's smooth as silk. The ambient Sound is perfectly blended with the subtle music, the ambiance is perfect. The gameplay is also unique, each dungeon you delve into is set on a difficulty that determines how long each part of the dungeon should take you, and the systems learn how you play and that time becomes more and more accurate as you play. The gameplay is simple, yet challenging. You follow along a path, it does branch so it's not a railroad per se. You will face enemies along the way, and you attack by aiming your cursor to auto-attack and hold A to speed the attacks up. and you interact with X, while B allows you to break shields. This system is part of the challenge of the game. The deeper you go the harder it gets. Book of Demons is a fun and unique take on the genre and was a pleasant surprise.
