As the first chapter of an episodic adventure, Blues and Bullets accomplishes everything it needs to—great writing, interesting characters, hints of a compelling story, and engaging gameplay are all present.

A visually evocative story-based game, compensating a pretty rough technical side with great artistic design, a spectacular soundtrack and a compelling and brutal noir story.

Irrespective of its perceived value based on its length and price though, there’s no doubt that Blues and Bullets: Episode One alludes to a series that could be somewhat of a diamond in the rough, and I for one am keen to see as to how it develops.

It’s not as polished as a Telltale game but the story is unique and I’m intrigued to see where it will go in episode 2.

The game’s story, confident art style, and engaging crime scene investigation puzzles give the game enough intrigue to stay around. Unfortunately, in its current state, hiccups such as long load times, empty environments, and weak shooting sections hold it back from being something great.

The music is amazing, it fits every part of the game perfectly
Graphics are pretty nicely done, the black and white noir setting looks beautiful but at times can be hard to see where you have to or need to go.
Voice acting is top notch with some amazing dialogue and execution.

The story for the first episode is not something you will really remember until the season picks up and we get to know more about the events that are transpiring.

    Dislikes:
LOADING SCREENS why does an X1 version still have such long loading screens, really hated that.
some of the movement seems a like a little buggy as well, not fleshed out like telltales games.

Overall: its a good game but the next few episodes really have to deliver more of an impact and give more choices that alter the story.

Only episode 1 so far, and it is rather simple in it's execution but this can be forgiven for what it does deliver, it delivers in style. VeryOnly episode 1 so far, and it is rather simple in it's execution but this can be forgiven for what it does deliver, it delivers in style. Very dark, this game looks beautiful to play and was enjoyable if somewhat slight.
If you've played any Telltale game game you will know the basic concept, almost like an interactive movie where you make decisions to drive the story, with a couple of shooting sections and a case to solve.
The episode takes around 2 hours to complete, but this is fine for the price asked.
The biggest problem is that the things you decide don't appear to really have any impact on the stories progress, and you are not really given space to explore, with everything telegraphed by big red icons on the screen.
Hopefully though this will be rectified in later episodes and maybe decisions made here will have more impact further down the line.
The best measure for me is whether it was an enjoyable 2 hours, which it was, and do I want to play the next episode when it is released. I can't wait!
