Big Crown: Showdown isn’t without issues. There’s some questionable design choices within, as well as a few bugs that hinder its fluidity. That said, these small problems are easy to overlook in the face of the vast amount of fun that the game consistently relays. I credit the game particularly for its accessibility, making for an action-packed, family friendly party brawler that rarely alienates the younger, or lesser skilled players.

Big Crown: Showdown has an overall idea that could provide a really enjoyable, exciting game to entertain the masses. With plenty of courses at hand, tons of hazards to evade, and a level of accessibility that allows gamers of all abilities to get involved, there’s certainly potential here. Sadly, the courses grow tiresome after only a couple of plays, given their short length, and so you’ll struggle to convince people to come back to it. Throw in the lack of other modes present, the dead online component and the other issues outlined, and it’s difficult to recommend even at just under a tenner in price.

The presentation side of the game does make the gameplay more fun and I did enjoy what both the visuals and sound design had to offer. InThe presentation side of the game does make the gameplay more fun and I did enjoy what both the visuals and sound design had to offer. In terms of content the game has more than enough to keep you occupied and the added bonus of online co-op means there’s decent replay ability as well. I thoroughly enjoyed what the gameplay had to offer because no game ever plays out the same way and it’s action-packed from start to finish. There’s a decent variety of maps and options available to you which in turn keeps things fresh and interesting for longer. Unfortunately the game suffers with a few bugs and technical issues which does kinda take the shine of things a little. The simple to pick up and play style is nice but I would’ve liked to have been able to pull off a few more complicated moves. More in terms of unlockables and upgrades would’ve been nice because what’s available to you is very basic to say the least. I love a game that makes every different game you play feel new and exciting because if done right you’re highly likely to return back to that said game time and time again. Big Crown: Showdown is a game that does just that and while it’s in an overcrowded genre it still shines enough to warrant a decent look at. As I said earlier each game feels completely new and different and the gameplay on the whole is action-packed and fun from start to finish. It doesn’t take long to grasp the fundamentals either so gamers of all skill levels can get involved in the fun but even though I enjoyed the simple to pick up and play style it still would’ve been nice to have been challenged to pull off more difficult moves. In terms of content the game will keep you satisfied for quite a while and you’ll be pleased to know that there’s plenty of maps and options for you to implement. Unfortunately though the content isn’t bereft of problems and you will bump into a few bugs and technical issues along the way which can make you a little frustrated every now and then. That being said despite these little issues Big Crown: Showdown still gets the most important aspects spot on and if you’re looking for a fun and enjoyable time with friends and family then you can definitely do much worse than this game. Big Crown: Showdown is a very basic party game, with the premise of the game being four knights competing to reach the end of death gauntletBig Crown: Showdown is a very basic party game, with the premise of the game being four knights competing to reach the end of death gauntlet with most amount of lives as possible. It looks okay, apparently has Xbox One X support, or something. Outside of moving, jumping, "punching" with your sword, and blocking your shield, their is nothing else to the controls, its pretty basic. The levels feature numerous traps that will cause a player to fall and use a life, these need to be avoid or used against your enemies. Their are also treasure chests on these tracks, which when punched, will reveal coins, which are used to buy hats, but that is it (the game has no microtransations). Despite the story segment before the game boots up, their is no single-player mode whatsoever, only local and online multiplayer. Online multiplayer is mostly buggy, and generally not worth the time. Local multiplayer supports 4 people, and can be fun for a bit, but not for long, and it has some glitches too. The game isn't too expensive, but honestly its not really worth it, unless your an Achievement hunter, as they're fairly easy (if a bit grindy at times) to obtain. Expand
