    I don't think there's one thing EA and DICE could've done to make this game any more disasterous than it turned out. Even after 2 months, it is still in a messy state. But during rare occasions when everything is working smooth enough, it's just not exciting to play at all. Ironically the one good mode is Battlefield Portal, but only because there are custom maps that replicate older entries, and it feels more like classic Battlefield than the new Conquest. This may not be the worst game of 2021, but it sure was the biggest letdown for many.… Expand

    Top Game! Few bugs got fixes asap from the devs and there isnt even the first expansion out jet. Good job from dice!

    Three months post launch and it's still a huge mess. There's still glaring bugs that would be caught by a drunken QA team.

    I've been playing on Xbox series X, and there's a lot of bugs, not enough weapons, and too much chaos generally speaking. Respawn system is working really bad, the balance of the game is lost. Specialists look like characters from cartoons. If I'm gonna purchase it, then only if it will be discounted. The game shouldn't be released in that state. There is no scoreboard.. just a "safe space" scoreboard, where you cant see how you are doing compared to anybody else on your team or the enemy team.. either in kills and deaths, or in captures.. and yes since traditionally it is a "scoreboard" it would give you score for team play, captures etc and did motivate teamplay.. now you just cant see anything.. also you clearly cant see how1.     They want you to "just have fun and not worry about competing" because competing is "toxic" which is just another new word for what they think is "immoral" because they are all Marxist activists over at DICE

    Imagine a soccer game, and how many people would watch if they just didnt keep score but said "just have fun" and at the end "both teams win! lets hug!"

    Its a complete woke joke... its like Battlefield 5 "if you dont like it dont buy it.. my 13 year old daughter spoke to me and she said scores are toxic and I listened" situation all over again.    … Expand

    The game looks so bad on the old console like it doesn't even look like they tired and no campaign and the multiplayer is still full of this many bugs just looks like a cash grab to me

    Encore des cartes trop plates, on passe son temps à courir dans des espaces vides et trop vastes !! Les cartes en intérieur genre Opération Verrou ou opération métro manquent énormément, les cartes en hauteur genre zone inondée aussi ! Et puis où sont passés les gadgets si fun genre lance grenade, lance roquette et j'en passe... plus rien.     Very poor, no campaign mode, cartoonish at times, shame gave it a go on 10 hr free play, turned off after 40 mins and deleted

    Doesn’t feel like a Battlefield game at all. The flagship Conquest mode, now with 128 players has no play structure or tactical bearing involved. You’re either out in no man’s land with no one around doing nothing, or caught up in a COD style free-for-all Zerg cluster f*** with no ability to be tactical or influence the outcome. Getting bumped off from every angle and axis half of the timeDoesn’t feel like a Battlefield game at all. It’s also a very poorly balanced game when it comes to game mode population and most vehicles, weapons plus the stupidest idea to have character personalities that are ‘customised’, instead of original classes and loadouts? Other issues include: poor kill notification, ridiculous looking post-match ‘avatar clone line up’, a confusing and unclear round reward and gear unlock system - makes the game wholly unrewarding and left feeling like you’ve achieved nothing, regardless of how you performed. It’s like DICE were so focused on getting 128 player on a single map and taking on COD - that they didn’t bother considering much else? A real example of ‘caught in your own soundbox’ development here.

    Stop trying to rip-off other games’ ideas, and get back to what used to make BF the best shooters of all time. I’ve played every BF starting in 2002, and I’ve never once felt the need to write a poor review. But sadly and with no exaggeration: this could be the worst one so far. Good job I played a trial for 10 hours and didn’t waste my money beforehand, this is the ONLY BF game in franchise history that I have not purchased. I’m giving it a 1/10 for the inclusion of the legacy game modes - which is a nice touch - but unfortunately they are so unpopulated you can’t get a good match going.

    BF Vietnam, BF2, Bad Company 2 and BF4 were utterly superb - take another look at what made those outstanding - and get back to the basics!    … Expand

    They’ve literally downgraded battle field. Getting rid of classes is one of the worst things they could have done. Not to mention this game is beyond bugged, to the point of being unplayable. I don’t understand why they would even release it in this state. The only reason would be to compete with call of duty.

    well im playing battlefield one again. this is unbelievable crap. terrible characters. bad graphics. zero atmosphere. i paid **** full price for a game that feels like free to play. shame on you dice and ea.

    Absolutely horrible. I used to love battlefield. I loved bf4 and bf1 so much. What happened? This game is one buggy unfinished pile of ****. This is the worst 75€ I've ever spent, and I have a severe gambling addiction...

    Worst Battlefield I ever played. Everything feels so bad in this game. The maps are empty; the guns feel clunky; the movements are heavy; and the game lacks identity.

    This feels like a bad version of call of duty warzone

    The game is terrible. It's full of bugs and glitches, and is an enormous downgrade. BF V is much better, most of the fun, unique mechanics in it were stripped, and we end up with a ridiculous game. It's an utter disappointment...

You can barely see the battlefield from a chopper because of some blue filter. Gameplay... well.     Battlefield 2042 is DICE’s most average Battlefield yet, one that despite boasting two new modes to discover in Hazard Zone and Battlefield Portal, clearly forgot about the core of the experience. With some weird design decisions, plenty of bugs, and more crashes than a destruction derby; the future of Battlefield, this is not. It’s still fun, but we hoped for so much more.
