Battle Knights is cut from the same cloth as them old-school delights and whilst it has a few shortcomings here and there it provided me with more enoyable moments than bad ones. The gameplay has that old-school feel dotted throughout and if you like the extreme challenging type game’s then you will fall in love with Battle Knights immediately. That being said if you don’t like really challenging game’s then this game is probably not for you because it will test your patience to the limits. Thankfully I didn’t think the difficulty of the game was much of a problem and in fact I found it to be more addictive than anything else and I found myself wanting to return to the game time and time again. As you can imagine then I was pleased to learn that the game has a decent amount of content for you to get to grips with and the best thing is that the content that’s available to you has quite a bit of variety and because of this you won’t find yourself getting bored anytime soon. You will however have to get used to how the game works because if you don’t put any effort in then you will find yourself losing multiple times. Combat which has to be honed indefinitely will take quite a while to get used to and unfortunately even after you’re used to it you will still feel that’s it unfair from time to time. Fortunately for me I was able to look past this issue and the main thing that made me be able to look past this small issue was thanks to the game’s excellent level design. Each level looks like it’s had a lot of thought and effort placed into them and the amount of variety that’s present in each level not only makes things stay fun for longer but it also makes it stay fresh and interesting for longer as well. Another aspect of the game that keeps this game interesting is its presentation. Visually the game screams retro in all areas and when you combine that with the on-point sound design you end up thinking that you’re actually playing one of them classic game’s of yesteryear. At the end of the day Battle Knights is a game that has a lot of charm running throughout it and whilst it doesn’t offer anything new in terms of ideas and it doesn’t get everything perfect I still recommend this game to you, especially if you’re a fan of old-school challenging game’s.
