so much potential so many bad decisions

first of all this could have been a great game it deserved to be. finally a classic turn based game. it looks and sounds great. the animations are top notch. character design is decent. voce acting is great. fighting system could use a 10 tp 20% speed up but other than than it follows a tried and true formula and is great fun and you can actually

first of all this could have been a great game it deserved to be. finally a classic turn based game. it looks and sounds great. the animations are top notch. character design is decent. voce acting is great. fighting system could use a 10 tp 20% speed up but other than than it follows a tried and true formula and is great fun and you can actually get almost tactical some of the time.

now for the bad part you only have 3 characters. i mean they designed 6 complete with different skill/armor/weapon sets. all of that devolopment effort gone to waste because of one single stupid decision. they don´t level when they´re not in the active party. and i don´t mean they get half the xp like in ff7. the get ZERO, nada, nothing so there´s NO reason at all to ever try them out or expirement with different tactics and set ups unless you want to waste your time hours upon hours to grind them up which precisely nobody ever does. there insanstly useless as soon as you get them. if they at least be on your level when they join, you could at least switch out your least favourite at that time but no, not even that.

they follow the exact same formula when it comes to crafting. they design a pretty deep crafting system. only to make it instantly useless by only giving you garbage. i´m 30 hours in and bought every crafting recipe i´ve come across i could craft 100s of different items. but why the hell would i ever do that if they´re all useless? i´ve never crafted a single one of them because there wasn´t a single instance where any kind of equipment i had on me at that that time would have been the tiniest bit improved by what i could have crafted at that time.

the perk system is ok but yet again basically useless. it lets you swap out buffs at any time. but again theres really no point to that if you can pick between a 1% increase here or a 0,5% increase there makes no **** difference at all. why would you ever do that with buffs and not with skills? if you could swap out the skills it would at least make sense since you could try different tactics and set ups and approaches to different enemies.

basically they had all the ingredients to make a pretty deep tactical chess like battle system. they put all the effort in to do so. but some idiot decided "yeah let´s do that, keep the chess approach but let them only ever use pawns. i´m sure that´s great fun"

i really feel for the people who worked on this i mean it could have been such a great game were it not for the mind numbingly stupid decicions that basically ruined the game.

Battle Chasers: Nightwar is easily the best turn-based RPG I have played in a long time. There are a bunch of different characters to customize; hundreds of monsters to battle; gobs of loot to find, and a reasonably good storyline that keeps the game moving along smoothly. Add to that a fair starting price (that is now a heck of a deal), and you have a 40-hour beast-bashing game to chase after.

Airship Syndicate brings a title where some points fail, such as optimization or a more immersive soundtrack, but has an excellent artistic section, a very intuitive combat system and an acceptable duration, which will be the perfect excuse for those who have never dared to take turn-based RPG games.

A solid old school turn-based RPG, graced by Madureira's awesome art but a little bit unbalanced towards combat rather than narration. Definitely a game to consider by lovers of the genre.
