Although there are certainly some issues with Awesome Pea 2 on Xbox One and it doesn’t really do anything that isn’t offered elsewhere, it’s a reasonably fun way to kill an hour or so. And it has to be said, there are certainly worse ways to earn 1000 Gamerscore.

This is fun hard but short with classic Gameboy graphics. But it will get you 26 achievements on your gamercard.

You're an Awesome pea, and here's your chance to prove it. Well if you're good at unforgiving platformers. I turned on the game and felt like I was back on my Atari 7800, from the peppy bit chip music to the simplistic graphics. But the graphics are deceiving, feeling more like the over-animated 16bit SNES graphics. The Colors are drenched in Pea Soup, 50 shades of Pea, Green-O-Vision. But the varying shades of green surprisingly work well, as you can easily differentiate the foreground from background. The game is completely uncompromising. The hitboxes of the hazards feel like they're slightly larger than the sprite, making even a close graze a deadly move. It's all about the timing, yes, there is a clock watching the time it takes you to finish, but don't rush through the levels, as there will be overlapping hazards and moving blades you don't anticipate. It's ok to take your time until you learn the stages, as there are some crazy and precisely timed jumps. The overworld map feels tiny, making it a bit hard to see even on a larger screen, but this far from detracts from the fun. Awesome Pea 2 is a brutal game but always leaves you with that "One More Try" feeling when you die, because you KNOW it was your fault, not some unfair mechanic. This game is a must if you were a fan of the first game, or just love tough and challenging platformers! Expand
