Super fun game. I really like all things pew pew, so the fact that this game has kept me engaged is promising. I would give it a 9 except for a few glitches that annoyed me. Great game and probably the best single player game I've played all year.

The game is absolutely astonishing!!! It is just wonderful!!!! The view and panorama is sometime amazing! it's enjoyable for a long long long time, I still play with it, and I keep loving it. The new RPG style is great! The game is just better and better as you play it.
I just love it! And I would recommend it even to my ennemies ;)
I can't say more, it just kicks ass. Great job on

Someone needs to remind Ubisoft that bigger/more ISN'T better. This game follows the same pattern as every ubisoft game ... a billion side quests with little to no relevance to the main quest and basically only 2 or 3 variations to these billion side quests. Bayek as a main character was boring and I felt no emotional connection to him and the main story was so short. I normally hate assassins creed games (other than AC 2 which I did enjoy at the time) and vowed never to buy one again, but I just got my XB1X and I wanted to see how a modern 4K HDR game looks on my 75 inch Visio P-Series TV. I gotta say the game looks absolutely amazing. That is the primary reason I am still playing (about half way through now) although it is starting to get pretty repetitive as usual with these games. Really I'm mostly just enjoying seeing the sites in Egypt.

Also, I'm glad they made the combat harder as well: near impossible to just take on 10 enemies on a frontal assault now, usually 3 is enough to cause some difficulty (playing on Hard setting).

But overall it is still a AC game at its core, which I think is hard to really get immersed in due to the annoying "desynched" mechanic and modern world aspects. The devs here should just dump that old plotline and just go for an immersive RPG game in a historical setting without all the sci-fi modern day crap it just brings me out of the immersion. Until they do that this WILL be my last Assassins Creed game, unless they come out with 8K TVs that I want to test out...

It's fine. Could be better, could be worse. I wish the frame rate was 60 fps like MGS5, but other than that it's okay. The Ezio ACs were the best in the series, after that the AC games have been mostly coasting. They've played down the Animus story line, a step in the right direction. Ubisoft, time for some innovation and 60 fps on consoles, please.

What an odd duck of a game. Origins has all the open world camel riding wonder that I loved about Red Dead Redemption but the RPG elements limit the exploration, assassinations, and story. Origins has all the open world camel riding wonder that I loved about Red Dead Redemption but the RPG elements limit the exploration, assassinations, and story. Let's start with my least favorite/most hated feature of this game, the grinding. Some enemies will be too high level for you to even attempt to fight, and this makes progress impossible until you level up. This is disastrously un-fun in an Assassin's Creed game. I don't want to run stupid side missions. I want to finish the game already!

Even if RPG were removed entirely, the game has other flaws that are all the results of lazy design. You know those giant enemies often called heavies? Those 8 foot tall wonders litter the landscape. Some boss are 12 foot tall monsters that need 50 hits to take down. They also have several un-blockable special attacks that continue until the animation is finished. Remember when Assassin's Creed was about finding a path to the target and finding a path out? Now it's about boss battles. *unenthusiastic hooray*

The map is also littered with the cookie-cutter bases that kind of ruined Batman: Arkham Knight and definitely ruined Far Cry 4. Worst of all, all that base attacking is pointless. Taking out bases and high level officers has no affect on any aspect of the game.

The grind, Osiris help me, the grind! Not only do you have to grind to level up, you have to grind to upgrade equipment, which is really just another way of level up. Everything seems innocent enough when all you need is some animal hide or copper stolen from a transport. Then you find yourself killing hundreds upon hundreds of animals to upgrade an arm bracer. Which part of the animal are we using? The uvula? The goal is to take something interesting and make it as unfun as possible so you will buy materials with micro-transactions. This is sick game design and it does ruin the experience.

As bad as the design is, there is a compelling and competent game here. The environments are vast and detailed. People go about their business as if they aren't NPCs. (Then you hear them say the same 4 lines with terrible voice acting and you're back into the video game.) Fighting also works well against normal sized enemies. The game has optional racing and gladiator challenges but I found these un-fun. You can also play optional "glitches" that have you fight enormous mythical monsters but I wasn't a high enough level to run any them when I finished the game. I will say this, when you finish, you will feel like you are finished. #gettingyourmoneysworth

This all really a problem of expectations. I was expecting a Hitman game in ancient Egypt. Instead I had The Witcher III set in ancient Egypt only without magic and compelling side stories.

What a surprise, another mediocre AC game. Yes, the combat is more focused, along with the world they built. But the main story was so generic, and the side quests, although better than the previous games, felt repetitive. It's disappointing that this was the outcome of the extra development time.

Expand

This is probably the strongest point for AC Origins - you get to explore Egypt of 2000 years ago. The world is packed with history and beautiful locations. It's obvious that the developers put great effort in creating this game - I strongly recommend looking up videos on YouTube that show all the tiny details that create a realistic environment.

Although this is an open world RPG-style game and you can choose where and what you do next, I strongly recommend the following in order to achieve full story immersion:
When your main quest takes you to a new region do the following:
    - Complete all the secondary quests first.
    - Complete the main mission.
    - Explore all the remaining locations in the region.
    The bad things:
    - For a time there was a major issue with the draw distance but since 2 patches ago it was mostly fixed on Xbox One X. Still, the draw distance should be increased further.
    - Audio bugs. Many NPCs would repeat the same exact thing over and over again. This is not such a big deal but when you are in a location where there's lots of NPCs it becomes too much.

    I rate the game 9/10.

While there are some new ideas here, nothing much has changed. The story is inconsistent and predictable. Overall this is a game about checking the marketing boxes to make the business happy.

You play as Bayek through most of the game but suddenly, in the middle of the game, you switch to Aya for 1 mission. Then back to Bayek until the very end where you're forced to play as Aya some more. Looks like she was added to allow "multi character" play. The missions are boring, she is pretty much useless, you lose everything you've spent the game building up and there is no point in it. Must have been a marketing thing.

Same thing with the "ship" sequences. Clearly the Black Flag devs wanted to add ships. The problem is the sequences are short, the gameplay is bad and there simply is no fun in them. Checked another marketing box.

The game advertises RPG but they completely missed what the RP stands for - role playing. Yes you level up, yes you select your abilities but it has no impact on anything. It is just a gating system that could have been left off and nothing would have been lost. Even the leveling is messed up. Supposedly you should be able to use the levels to tell the areas that are easy and those that are hard. The reality is that you'll be facing people several levels below you and they will stomp you for no reason. Some enemies seem to be able to block any attack. Others seem to never miss and do a huge amount of damage or stun you in place. The result is most battles play out the same way. The leveling system really doesn't change anything.

The story itself is inconsistent. In 1 mission you're saving crocs for a god. In the next you're killing them for no reason. Towards the end you're on a fast pace to kill someone. Suddenly you decide to stop and bury someone for no reason. You've spent the entire game watching folks die and now you're interested in stopping your years long quest to bury somebody??

Fortunately the modern area stuff is very limited. Since Desmond was removed it seems like they just make up new people and situations to justify adding the modern stuff in. You can quickly skip the sections and nothing will change about the story. Nobody cares anyway. The only future stuff that does get in the way is when you finish an ancient mechanism. You're then forced to endure (i.e. cannot skip) a monologue from the future that just goes on and on. I used these times to take a break, make a snack, etc. When will Ubisoft realize nobody cares about the mangled storyline they think is so important?

Bugs continue to exist. If you leave the game running and just hibernate then most times when you return the icons don't render anymore or you get the infinite load screen. This has been partially fixed in the latest DLC but it still happens. Speaking of icons does Ubisoft not have any UI folks on staff? What genius felt that white icons on a yellow desert map was a good call. It is almost impossible to see in map mode. Black icons or being able to turn off the desert background would have easily solved this issue. Color contrasts are a UI-101 issue. Additional bugs include killing captains outside their fort and the game doesn't give you credit, enemies fighting from tops (or in tables) and graphic tearing.

While there is no MP forced at you in this game there is still social interaction forced down your throat. I don't remember giving Ubisoft permission to record or advertise my game but if I die others can see where. If I take a picture (useless by the way) then others can see it. This is a violation of my privacy rights Ubisoft. I don't care that player X died in this spot. I'm not going to avenge them unless I accidentally click on them because you try to hide the fact that it isn't part of the single player experience. The option to completely disable recording my death or my pictures and publishing it to the world is a serious need. Privacy is under my control, not Ubisoft.

Then we get to the elephants. Clearly this is a call back to the legendary ships of Black Flag. Nearly impossible to defeat without either a lot of time or some questionable gameplay. They are there just to show you that Ubisoft can create enemies for which the leveling system means nothing and all your abilities are useless. I was in the middle of fighting one of them (not the one that got fixed in the patch) and it auto-healed. That's 10 mins of my life I'll never get back. The reward isn't worth the effort. We'll see if they scale to the newer level limits.

Is this better than the recent entries - yes. Is it in the top 5 of Creed games - probably. Is it in the top 3 - not by a long shot.

They tried a few new things and, while not everything worked out the way they intended, and some of the old annoyances cropped up from previous games in the franchise, this is without a doubt the best game since AC2.
You play as Bayek, a man caught up in a situation that leads to him helping found the Brotherhood. While the story is typical AC fair at this point, Bayek is a good character, even if he never seems to be the main character throughout the story. It's hard to say much without spoiling things but I always go the feeling that he was watching from the sidelines as the things that he made happened occurred.
Onto the gameplay now, which is the biggest change from previous games. Combat is much more articulate and requires much more patience from the player. It takes some time to figure things out, especially for long time fans of the series, but it's pretty well done. It has it's problems, especially trying to focus on one enemy at a time, even with the lock on feature. I'd give it a thumbs up from the previous games, but knowing that it can get better with the following games.
The world is probably the best part of the game. The map is massive with a dense and robust amount of stuff to do. It helps that the time period for the game was something that was absolutely new to me, as opposed to previous games in the series that I knew alot about before going into them. The most fun I had at times was just running around and finding new stuff on the map and getting it done.
This was a big step forward for the series as a whole for me. Getting away from the yearly releases will only help the franchise get back to that AAA destination it had been at for the longest time but had taken a step back in recent years. While I won't say that I'm fully invested in the series just yet, I know that they're on the right path with this game and I'm excited to see what they have in store for us in the future.

If you love RPG's, buy this. Now if you want this game, but can't decide between this or Odyssey, I would say buy Origins. This game is much more grounded, but I love Egypt, so that is my opinion.

Of course it still has the kind of things that makes this game an assassin's creed like parkour, stealth and script, However it brings some others never seen before. The systems of levels, crafting, farming and the hability tree are some examples of RPG elements we can see. Of course we're still talking about an action game, so despite the strategy it brings there're still being loads of action.
All this changes have been refreshing for the franchise... It really needed. Finally, after many years we can say that we're playing a brand new assassin's creed and not a copy of the previous one.

In all honesty Ubisoft have hit the ball right out of the park with AC: Origins – it's truly a magnificent addition to the line up and franchise. I just hope that they don’t rush another game out on the back of this. With the large open world and many side quests I can comfortably say I will be investing a good few days into this game as its panning out to be one of the best in the series.

Playing over 100hrs in Nightmare mode, excellent role playing game, menu interface very good, audio excellent, gameplay sometime could be frustrating but in good in overall (Blocking, Dashing etc.) . Weapons menu not so good, abilities tree very good, Story good. This game is not a perfect 10 but is not a 8, my rate on this 89 or a 9.

Ubisoft did a great job with this one. I am only a level 15 right now but I truly enjoy the difficulty of the game and the fact that you need to be a certain level to do certain missions on other assassins creed games you could kind of finagle your way around that with skill but in Origins its pretty much impossible to do. great game 8.7 out of 10 on my scale and best Assassins Creed game yet.

The atmosphere of ACO makes you fell like immerse in an ancient culture. The missions are very well written and entertained.. The sightseeing, the way the NPS behave, all the towns are different, all the hide out are very well made. And not to mention that it has ATMOS Dolby Digital, and the SFX are detailed and accurate.

The new system offered significant challenges in combat, and made the simple counter button non-existent. Furthermore, higher level enemies can't be assassinated and significantly higher enemies appear as skull level, which are near impossible to beat. The world is a beautiful rendition of the ancient world of Egypt. Exploring the end of the empire with the transition of power in the royal family. I even got every achievement but without buying that material pack it could have been a long time getting some of those materials which would have ruined the game for me as the pace was great and if i did side track then i may not have ever finished the game. Also it had 2 expansions the 1st was short the 2nd was awesome. Also in the middle of their expansion release dates they added a ton of history stuff you can read and watch and learn about Egypt so i will praise them on that as it is tons of hours of learning and is amazing. I would have given this a 10 if it was a little better of a story but mainly didn't have microtransactions that were not cosmetic only as i bought the fire horse and used it the entire time so i don't mind that as that was for me and i liked it, but the non cosmetic microtransactions is why i can't give this a 10 and this game does look amazing and the fighting styles were fun.

I definetely recommend this game to all fans of the AC Universe, but also to newcomers who would like to get a feel of what Assassin's Creed games are like. Of course the game isn't perfect though, at first I found it hard getting used to the new gameplay mechanics (though they eventually grew on me) and the progression system is not one I find pleasing. The many side-quests put me off the main storyline alot of the time, but I had to play them as otherwise it would have been impossible to get enough XP which the main quests require.

I would've loved to give this game a 7 or maybe even an 8 but there's just too much wrong here.

Let's start with the good stuff though:
    - the world:
certainly in the center of the game and its main attraction. It's absolutely huge and looks stunning. Visually really among the best in the genre, both at night and day.
    - that's basically it for me... but the world really is f*cking awsome

    the neutral:
    - story:
Many points and turns make no sense. While the general concept is actually not bad, its execution is lacking. As an origin-story for the Creed however, it feels fitting.
    - mounts:
camels and horses feel alright. The controls are as basic as they come and could've been infinitely better if just inspired by RDR. They also move way too slow
    - ships:
while it's nice to have back sea-battles, they just don't feel that great. They are pretty much insignificant for the story and don't control nearly as well as in Black Flag
    - RPG-mechanics:
while I'm a friend of leveling and skill-trees (and this one is pretty good, I think), it's not well implemented here. The focus on numbers is much too great and fights do not depend on your skills with this messy combat-system as much as on whether your enemy has a higher level than you (could've as well been round-based, to go into the extreme here). The story-missions also force you to grind with side-missions. This wouldn't be a problem if 80% of them weren't actually as bland as they are

    the bad:
    - characters:
while Bayek is based on an alright concept and his motives are mostly clear, he simply seems pretty stupid. Time and time again he proves to people that it's not the gods punishing them but some human, while he himself doesn't seem to grasp the same point in his motivations. Aya, while as a character not much better than Bayek, was not as annoying. Her gameplay passages however felt unnecessary and forced. Other characters are mostly not worth talking about.
    - animations & dialogue:
something I can somewhat forgive in a game of such scope. Facial animations are basically nonexistent except for cut-scenes. Dialogues often seem obsolete and stupid, tying in with the relatively senseless story.
    - combat:
praised by many and certainly a step in the right direction. While I personally enjoyed the earlier AC combat, it really did get old with time and this feels much more engaging. The execution is terrible though imo... essential mechanics such as dodging, blocking or shooting are insanely inconsistent. Dodging does not get you out of reach, no, the enemy will just turn mid-air and hit you anyway. What's the point of dodging then? The worst however are the combo- and animation-locks. Bayek does not move resposive enough and once in an enemy-combo, you might just stop the fight altogether... this felt most frustrating in the second to last boss-fight (won't give any spoilers here), where only very short time-frames were given to hit the enemy. With every further hour of playtime I'll probably come up with more points why the combat is insufficient but I think the point is made

TL;DR: All in all a good Assassin's Creed but not a very good RPG (or game in general?). The world is amazing and the AC-feel is there. However, frustrating lack of polish with combat and everything surrounding the story can make it a chore to play.

But please, Ubisoft, remove the present time parts of the game: I know they were once introduced to get the game series (story) going, but now they are just the tedious parts of the game that really take me out of the actual adventure.
Same for the boating bits: I did not like them in Black Flag (sic...), and I don't like them here (even though, luckily, there are much less of them).
Also, the last part of the game dragged on quite a bit, and the "switcheroo" (I won't spoil more than that) was just cumbersome, and didn't really add anything for me.

So a remarkably entertaining 'Creed' game, with tons of side quests (if that makes you happy). But don't expect anything really new or innovative, especially if you have played a 'Creed game before.

It is kind of disappointing it feels like Assassin's creed lost their identity and stealth is a lot less important. It's a good game but not a good assassins creed game.

It was a vast improvement upon the open world concept in the AC franchise, and the storytelling is still pretty good. However, this continues in the decline of a historical focus and pushes modern social critiques that really began in AC3. One example among many: We have *pale* toned Romans and Greeks calling Egyptians and Nubians “sand dogs” and Nubians and Egyptians acting like brothers in arms against occupiers, but Nubians and Romans were generally closer politically and socially. It’s little things like that which really pull you out of the immersive experience I’ve come to love about this franchise over the years. And it’s peppered through out the game. History isn’t black/white, however there are two tribes trying to tell us it is and it’s bled into what we used to use to escape. Super lame.

The combat is fantastic! So much fun, and gruesome! Blood splatter and damage appears (perhaps not consistently or as evident) with ever successful strike. It’s not as smooth as Odyssey’s obviously, but still top notch. What’s not great is the weapons system in either game. I don’t want to constantly pickup, breakdown, or equip new weapons. I *want* new weapons throughout games like this sure, but come on. So **** boring. I’d rather have less crap like that and more traversal and dungeon design. Seriously, it’s Egypt… why are the pyramids and sphinx so damn easy to loot and complete? Such a miss, idk how it got out to shelves with boring af “tomb raiding.”

This game is good to flush out the franchise plot… the one they abandoned… lol

Buy on sale, same with DLC. I got everything for around $15 which is decent for the seriously drawn out collectathon that is AC: Origins

Poprilično iznenađenje. Ubisoft je konačno poslušao kritike i napravio dosta dobru AC igru posle duže vremena. Mapa je toliko velika, igra dosta dugo traje, jer zahteva grind glavnog junaka za prelazak misija. Grafika je odlična, Egipat je toliko šarmantno predstavljen. Konačno i sporedne misije imaju smisla i nisu dosadne. Mehanika borbi je dosta dobra i doživela je ogromne promene, mnogo novih udaraca je dodato.

    Pros:

    +Interesting plot

+Armor & weapons look and feel varied
    +Good voice acting
    +Parkour feels fluid & responsive
    +Cities feel lived in
+Arena & racing side activities feel fun and are a good change of pace

    Cons:
-NPCs keep repeating the same lines of dialogue
    -Too grindy
-Sidequests follow the same predictable formula (starts out as something simple but then you're tasked with a new objective that sees you almost always killing a commander, saving someone, bringing an object,...)
-Main story is too short & follows the same pattern for 3/4 of the game
-Last section of the story feels rushed
    -Little activity variety
-Combat feels boring after a while
-A lot of the gear you receive is usually weaker than what you have on
-Enemies on horseback are extremely annoying to fight on foot
-Mounts move too slowly, specially inside cities
-No visual indication to alert you if you can or can't parry a certain attack
    -Extreme level gating
-A lot of the areas in the map aren't used in the main story
-Most of the sidequests are forgettable
-The true ending for the character is locked behind DLC
-Animals are a bore to fight
    -Too much stunlock
-Boss battles feel poorly balanced making them either too hard or too easy

Overall, Assassin's Creed Origins still holds up in many regards, to this day, however, despite what many believe, the game's not the strongest one out of the RPG lineage of AC titles. Boring gameplay, lackluster story that's only elevated by the amazing performance from Bayek's (the main character) voice actor, tedious side activities, predictable structure and a world too big for its own sake, make AC: Origins a title that's good in its best & rarest moments and a chore to go through during most of the title's runtime. A typical case of quantity over quality.

For those that were fans of AC: Odyssey, the game will feel like a (natural) step back, for those who liked AC: Valhalla, the game will feel like meeting a distant cousin for the first time and for those that are fans of the older titles in the franchise, there are some aspects that will intrigue you that are part of the core experience of AC, but it is a significant departure nonetheless. If you are looking for a lite-RPG set in ancient Egypt, with some mystical elements then I recommend the game.

This is the first series of the assassins, in which I want to complete additional missions, explore the world, find new locations, why? Because the game has the main thing - a very cool atmosphere. Yes, the quests are mostly simple, but you don’t get tired of them, I don’t know how Ubisoft achieved this, but it is very pleasant to play, and some missions are even unique and reveal characters, this is very cool. Still, I want Ubisoft to again intertwine the main plot with the story, and not the personal motivation of the main characters, otherwise the game is good, I advise. An interesting fact, but in moments, it seems that in Unity the graphics were a little more detailed in the little things. Expand

    First, the good:

-THE STORY- I think it's the most important element of any AC game. Without a good story, the game falls apart, like I felt it happen to Valhalla, but for me Origins really delivered.
-The Gameplay - First AC to adopt this new RPG style gameplay. First time i played it was amazing, second time, it was still great, but a little outdated compared to Odyssey or Valhalla.
-Sound and music were good and the voice actors did a great job, especially for Bayek.
-Visually, the game look great for 2017

    The Bad:
-Too many locations and side-quests to do and it can get a little repetitive if you want to complete 100%.

Found Origins disappointing in terms of story and combat, but the open world is probably one of the best in gaming to experience. Combat feels clunky and not as smooth as AC Odyssey and Valhalla, and the story is really incoherent at times, especially toward the end. Bayak is cool but I could take or leave Aya.

For me Origins is the best game in the series, a beginning of a new era for the long-running franchise. I was awestruck by how huge, varied and believable its world is and how dense it is with all sorts of appealing activities. I welcomed the completely redesigned combat system, which bids farewell to the old “press X to win” feature. Apart from various glitches and technical issues (often resulting from game’s complexity) my only serious charge against Origins is that it sets up its story poorly and fails to keep it tight. Origins provides a much-needed change in direction for the Assassin’s Creed franchise. The range of new action-RPG elements isn’t especially innovative but they do more than enough to make the previously tired gameplay feel fresh and engaging. The world is beautiful and dense, the characters are interesting, and the story offers enough mystery and intrigue to keep players coming back before it sadly ends far too quickly. Assassin’s Creed Origins isn’t perfect, but it points to a long and healthy future for the series.
