    Ashes Cricket isn’t perfect, but that’s unfortunately to be expected from Big Ant cricket games at launch. But the stacks of little bugs aren’t enough to detract from the overall accomplishments of a fully featured cricket game, which is as appealing to cricket aficionados as it is to those looking to have a quick bash. If Big Ant follows the trend of its previous games, the subsequent patches will help to convert the game into a game with an even louder appeal.

    Ashes Cricket offers the very best cricket game so far. As well as being the most realistic, it offers more approachable gameplay to help draw you in and looks excellent, particularly the licensed players and major stadiums. While it has a few bugs here and there, it also features an extensive customisation system and a number of game modes. There's a lot to love and keep you engrossed.

    Like an 80-overs old Dukes ball, Ashes Cricket may be a little rough around the seams. Yet it still manages to impress where it counts: out in the middle. There has never been a cricket game this approachable, fully-featured, or fun, and the inclusion of licensed Ashes squads and stadia is just the icing on what is already an exceedingly customisable cricket cake. With a bit more shine on it via future patches and community-created content it could be well and truly amazing, but even as it stands Ashes Cricket is the best videogame representation of the sport to date.

    Ashes Cricket is the best cricket game ever made, enhancing the foundations of the Don Bradman Cricket series, rather than starting afresh. Player licensing takes it up a notch, as does an improved batting system and motion capture. While there are still too many glitches and commentary remains a mess, it delivers on the pitch with more accessible options for new players and improvements for veterans.

    If you can get over the numerous yet humorous glitches and expect them to be patched out later, then this is a decent cricket simulator with plenty to do long after the current Ashes series finishes down under.

    There hasn’t been a lot of cricket game’s that have come out in recent year’s and in a way the sport has been neglected quite a bit and IThere hasn’t been a lot of cricket game’s that have come out in recent year’s and in a way the sport has been neglected quite a bit and I can’t remember the last decent cricket game. Thankfully Ashes Cricket pulls out all the stops and in my opinion this is the best cricket game ever. The amount of content in the game is huge and the best thing is that each bit of content has had a lot of effort put into it and this ultimately keeps you coming back for more time and time again. There are plenty of teams for you to play with and I like the effort that has gone into each team and whilst not all trademarks are there they’ve still done a very good job. The gameplay on the whole has been done extremely well and there is a lot of depth to it, and when you combine it with the excellent controls then the game becomes even more addictive. You will notice however a few bugs and glitches along the way and they can frustrate you from time to time, but thankfully it didn’t happen very often. My favourite thing about the game was the amount of customisation that’s present. I must admit that I was very surprised by how much you can chop and change in the game, and this added extra allows you a lot of freedom and most important of all it keeps things fresh. The presentation side of the game is pretty decent, especially when it came to the visuals. The visuals look stunning at times and the realistic approach make the gameplay even more immersive. The sound design is also good at times, but the commentary is unfortunately a little lacklustre. At the end of the day I pretty much had given up on a decent cricket game making it to consoles and when Ashes Cricket was first announced I expected it to go into the pile of disappointing cricket game’s, but thankfully I was proven wrong at every turn. Big Ant Studios have done a remarkable job here and they’ve made the sport of cricket relevant to gamers again, which is awesome in my opinion. They have got pretty much everything right and without a doubt this is the best cricket game bar none and if you’re a fan of cricket game’s then this is an absolute must buy.… Full Review »

    I've been a fan of the Big Ant cricket games since Don Bradman 14, and while I thought that perhaps Don Bradman 17 didn't quite live up to theI've been a fan of the Big Ant cricket games since Don Bradman 14, and while I thought that perhaps Don Bradman 17 didn't quite live up to the move to next gen, Ashes Cricket does and really is the best iteration of cricket on consoles I've ever played. I've read some reviews that have compared the visuals to Fifa or NBA 2K but that's slightly unfair when you consider the budget and size of the buying audience. However, much like Pro Evo, it's in the gameplay where this game shines. Bowling feels intuitive - my preference is leg spin and it always feels like you're in a battle but one that with the right tactics and technique you have a good chance of winning. The batting controls now give the option of face buttons which is great as an option. Was very worried they wouldn't have Ireland as a Test nation but it's up to date which is a relief. All round excellent game. Would highly recommend!!!… Full Review »

Vomit-inducing player customisation (bearing in mind check 1)? Check. Worse than having a migraine on a roller coaster? CHECK CHECK CHECK! Remember when critics were moaning their socks off about the dual stick controls in Too Human? Well that was tolerable, because you bashed up monsters really well. THIS IS CRICKET THOUGH, you cant use dual sticks to whack the ball! hither dither The same applies for the flimsy bowling. I thought by now Ashes games would have learnt their lessons, but no. Waste of time, waste of money. Cricket is meant to be fun, in game or for real. And OH MY POOR EYES! I havent seen graphics this bland since playing the stomach-churning Chakan on Sega Genesis! Hell, even the female stars look like they have been pushed through the car wash 7 times!!!… Full Review »
