Asdivine Hearts 2 keep on with the legacy of the first game. While short on innovations at least it keeps the original essence intact.

Asdivine Hearts II tries to deliver a sequel, but the story isn't as captivating as the original, the graphics feel recycled and the movement feels jerky as opposed to fluid. While some attempt at innovation tries to bring about some wonderful new aspects to the game, sadly Asdivine Hearts II falls short of bringing an adventure that felt fresh and new. I wish I could recommend this game, but at $14.99 it breaks my heart.

You’ll probably find that Asdivine Hearts II is okay. I don’t mean to damn with faint praise, but the story is a bit of a mish mash, with missions that only seem to be there to pad the game out and make it last that bit longer.

The combat felt much more refined this time around and without a doubt this made it more satisfying throughout my time with the game. Thankfully just like the previous game they have got the difficulty curve spot on and it retains a fun and challenging vibe at all times. There’s a decent variety of skills and things to find during your time with the game and this does keep things fresh and interesting for longer. Unfortunately once again the story left a lot to be desired and the humor failed to make an impact with me. Grinding is once again required and whilst this isn’t much of a problem at first it does get repetitive quite quickly which makes things tedious. There are not enough puzzles in the game and on the whole the gameplay does lack in terms of depth a little. While Asdivine Hearts was good every now and then it did fail in a number of areas which made me somewhat disappointed but my experience was fun along the way. I had interest in Asdivine Hearts II and I was hoping that they had sorted out some of the problems from the first game. Thankfully they have actually sorted a few problems but it still isn’t perfect in certain areas. This time however they do get more things right than they get wrong and there is a little more in terms of variety present in the content this time around as well. Combat also feels improved with plenty of skills for you to use during the many battles you come across. This however is basically it when it comes to the gameplay side of things and the lack of depth is a problem especially when you combine that with the amount of grinding required because this does make things tedious much quicker than they should’ve been. The story was also tedious as well and like the first game the humour failed to pack a punch for me. At the end of the day then whilst Asdivine Hearts II still contains quite a few imperfections I’m pleased to see that they’ve made some effort in certain areas. Overall, Asdivine Hearts II gets a recommendation from me and I hope they continue heading in the right direction with the series. Expand
