  • Summary: Ascendance is a calming, relaxing, and minimalist first-person 3D Platformer. Shape your way with mysterious abilities and rise with the enchanted wind platforms beyond the skies within a world which evolves and transforms around you.

Onevision Game attempted to create a relaxing and deep experience, but technical issues drag the game to the mediocrity pile.

While ASCENDANCE – First Horizon achieves some things with its emphasis on relaxation, calming 3D FPS platforming and hidden collectables, all of this is nearly gone to waste when you are unable to experience the entire package because of technical issues which should have been solved before the game’s launch.

Ascendance’s short and seemingly peaceful journey is often hamstrung by its poor handling, and for a game that focuses its play on platforming alone, this doesn’t at all fare well. Furthermore, there’s a lot of framerate fluctuation to contend with alongside bad lighting, making it very difficult to appreciate the splendor that each world desperately attempts to relay. The whole affair just comes across like a cheap, shallow imitation of Refunct.

Ascendance: First Horizon doesn’t really hold your hand which is something that allows you to explore each platform and getting to the nextAscendance: First Horizon doesn’t really hold your hand which is something that allows you to explore each platform and getting to the next goal felt more rewarding because I had to solve the puzzles myself. Ascendance: First Horizon that takes you on an adventure without putting any pressure on your quest and this creates a relaxing journey that let's you set the pace. I enjoy this genre at times, but even though Ascendance: First Horizon offers some enjoyable moments, however there are better experiences for you in this genre. The main objective is to collect beacons, and as you collect them you’ll start to notice that each of the levels expands revealing what's next t complete. The levels overall aren't very long but there are collectibles to attain along your journey. There are a few small issues with the controls at times it just doesn’t always feel as responsive as it needs to and the jumping in a first person view experience will always create a few frustrating moments. Fortunately the presentation side of the game features beautiful visuals and a quite relaxing soundtrack. The presentation is what shines the most in Ascendance: First Horizon. If you’re looking for a game that will take you away from the action-packed and over the top experiences most games aim for, Ascendance: First Horizon may be a worthy addition to your Xbox game library, and worth your time in it's beautiful world.
