AlienCruise is a decent side-scrolling shooter that does well with the little content that it serves up. The game’s commendable variation of interesting enemies, together with its few colorful and distinct locations, collectively ensure that player interest is maintained whilst repetition is held at bay. Despite some cheap deaths and its generic audio presentation, fans of the concept are unlikely to be dissatisfied with what’s on offer.

I’m sure there are probably some out there who will pick this up and have an enjoyable time with it, but my time with Alien Cruise has been frustrating, maddening, and in the end, not an enjoyable experience. It’s a shame, because the enemy design is superb and the visuals are bright and colourful, but unfortunately, that just isn’t enough.

AlienCruise is an old-school, side-scrolling, classic shooter that doesn’t try to re-invent what this formula has delivered to us for so many years. The game has a very easy pick up and play feel and a variety of characters with different attributes to choose from. The controls are tight and responsive with variation within the controls to fine tune your skill set in this bullet-hell game. It's easy to focus solely on the shooting action that takes place on screen without problems or distractions as the the shooting action was solid, as there’s a decent amount of varied worlds and enemies you have to tackle in a vibrant art style that make enemies and bullets stand out to the eye in the heat of battle. The game is rather short which was a bit disappointing, as the game does have has some memorable bosses within the journey. In order to defeat some of these bosses, you'll need upgrades because they do feel overpowered and the upgrades only seem to help beat them down a little at a time. Despite this small lack of balance the overall game doesn’t suffer in other areas if you’re a fan of this genre, and I’m sure you’ll find something in AlienCruise that will scratch your itch for a decent side scrolling shooter. It keeps things simple and fun without breaking what has worked for so many years. I'd recommend giving it a go as for the price it's worth the fun it delivers. Expand
