    Agents of Mayhem
    A Sleeper hit
A gents of mayhem is a spin off game from the saints row series
where a group of heroes are assembled with their own hatred for the legion to take them down
The game takes place in south korea and the story is told with animated cutscenes and tons of humor and charm…
This is a bit of a 3rd person version of a hero shooter.. though completely single player
you start out with 3 characters, and once youre set free in the open world youre able to go and recruit the other 9…
The game handles the introductions and unlocking these characters perfectly…
and rightfully so as recruiting them makes up a hefty chunk of this 22 hour long campaign
To unlock a character you have to complete a mission with that character..
each characters mission introduces them, gives them a back story and their reason for wanting to take down legion…
and none of them feel throw away, every single character in this game feels fleshed out, both in their play style and their personality
These missions introduce the characters weapon, their special attacks, and their mayhem attacks..
They force the player not only to dip their toes in the water with each character, it forces them to prove they can succeed with that character as well
And each is balanced in a way that you may love 2 things about them but hate one… or really love one thing but hate the other 2..
This makes picking your favorite 3 so hard…
And keeping in mind you need a variety of characters in your squad for different objectives missions may throw at you..
Once you have your 3 favorite characters , its time to squad up and take the city for your own
A squad consists of any 3 characters
You can take these characters and clean up the town if youd like, taking over outposts so that you can unlock a regions side activites or claim currency terminals to increase you dollar per minute you earn back at your base
these side activities aren’t really too interesting or fun…
I don’t imagine many people will spend their time running around this tiny city doing them..
and other than unlocking schematics for new cars theres not much incentive to do them anyway..
speaking of cars this is how you will traverse unless you choose to jump and dash into the air, but the game makes it easy by letting you call a car instantly with the touch of the d pad
but sadly there is no fast travel here, youll be driving a lot
most of your time will be spent doing main missions and running through lairs or dungeons
These lairs and dungeons are found in story as well as in the global conflict section of the game which is where you send out your unused members to go out and earn xp and scraps for gremlin tech which is basically a consumable attack
These dungeons are where youll earn mods for your equipped characters
The mission structure here though is practically identical throughout all 20 hours..
    heres the crazy thing though..
The game stays fun throughout inspite of this..
Im surprised how much I ultimately enjoyed agents of mayhem…
while the open world is shallow, the level design is extremely repetitive, and a low health indication like a harsh vibration or blood/discoloration on the screen doesn’t exist..
the heroes with their different moves, diolog, and personalities, the different villians that are fun to hate.. the overall writing in this game.. all of it keep this game fresh and fun throughout…
if youre a fan of hero shooters in any way.. don’t miss out on this one
    I give Agents of Mayhem
    an 8/10

Game is super fun right from the start. That is why I wanted it was because of the "fun" factor.
The game is easy to pick up and go. Everything is explained very quickly and efficiently. Easy learning curve. Some people are saying its repetitive but so many games out there are exactly that. After several hours of gameplay, I am thrilled to explore even more.

Differences and variety of play keep the game fresh and traversing the city is a blast.

Definately a must buy for this year, along with originator of the open traversal genre: Crackdown 3.

So much better than Crackdown 3. Agent of Mayhem is fun, fast and has a variety of heroes with different types of gameplay.

I had way more fun with this game than with Saints Row 3 and 4.

I dream of a AoM 2 with new-gen graphics, and why not as a game as service, adding for exemple a new town once a year, and new content regularly, new agents, new missions that will unlock new skins, new types of vehicles, etc... They could also add some loot with stats like in Borderlands or Diablo. It would be awesome.

AoM is for those gamers like myself who enjoy the base feeling of fragging enemies enough that we want to experience how many characters do said fragging subtly differently. Just Cause 1 & 2, the compulsive destruction of the Crackdown series, AoM fits right in, but with much more character depth than Crackdown, as much as I thought the 3rd was the epitome of that series. Very similar vibes, but with more polish/production values! All the thoughtful nuances in playstyle that the game invites the player to explore and revel in are satisfying to gamers like me but not enough for those looking for a subtly different genre. Many gamers won't revel in slight variations on the same experience the same way us Dynasty Warriors / Orochi Warriors gamers do, lol.
As an aside, I'm shocked when games like this and Crackdown 3 get utterly decried in games media and by gamers who consistently want a different genre of game and attest to that in their reviews.

I have completed a very large number of games on all the main platforms, so consider myself quite an experienced gamer.

I picked up Agents of Mayhem for peanuts, and did abandon it in favour of more interesting titles. However, after completing (and enjoying) Crackdown 3 I felt the urge to give Agents of Mayhem a second chance. I'm so glad I did as I approached the game with a different view, in which I took the elements I wanted from the game and completed the main campaign. Many people say it's boring and glitchy, but they may have not updated the game and thought they had to complete every remedial task. AoM tasks aren't all supposed to be completed (unless you want to do them all), but they're provided in abundance so you can adequately upgrade without searching endlessly for appropriate activities.

Give it a try. Play to unlock all the characters 1st, consider each as a loadout option, and tackle the main campaign as you see fit. You'll probably agree it's a great game that's lots of fun, and yet so cheap.

I played it on the Xbox one X and only encountered 1 visual glitch (hovering item) and 2 failures for the current objective to update (simply reload current objective).

    Grab yourself a bargain.

This game is crazy. It is a mix between the Saint's Row series and superhero games. You should definitely check it out! Overall rating: 7.9.

A spin-off that unfortunately fails to scratch that irritating Saints Row itch. [Nov 2017, p.85]

An entertaining game, with a great set of characters and lots of contents. What it lacks, though, is in variety, with an excessive repetitiveness due to too few locations and enemy types.

There's so much to like if you're a fan of action cartoons but Agents of Mayhem is let down by repeated use of locations and annoying bugs.
