Jul 10, 2017A simplistic and light action-RPG, giving up on loot and deep systems in favor of lighthearted co-op action. Some design choices feel a bit too archaic and it's got some performance problems during the most crowded moments, but it can deliver an entertaining experience.

Jul 7, 2017AereA is not the best option if we are looking for a strong RPG experience. It is instead a boring experience that sadly shows great intentions but fails by offering extremely repetitive mechanics.

Aug 7, 2017The combination of music and hack&slay is promising. But in the end this is just a rather dull clone of the latest Gauntlet that just scratches on the surface of its possibilities.

Jul 20, 2017Although having a few highlights in both the art design and soundtrack, AereA falls down in almost all other areas – a dungeon crawler that offers nothing new, other than a cool concept, and fails in the things that are essential to an action game, such as combat and quest design. It may offer local 4-player co-op, but even playing with friends won’t bring this game to life.

Jul 17, 2017I have heard that the co-op at least offers the fun of another player, but I can’t imagine anyone would find this game entertaining for more than a single session. Between the repetitive quests, boring gameplay, and numerous glitches, I’d recommend skipping AereA entirely. The thing is - music-themed games with retro inspiration can be done well; this just isn’t one of them.

Jul 15, 2017AereA has good intentions with its musical theme, but unfortunately it doesn’t work out. The aiming is bad, the game is way too easy and gets boring quite fast. The co-op is quite entertaining the first moments, but just for a while.

Jul 6, 2017At its heart, AereA is a game about pulling levers, opening doors and being really lost, which is the opposite of what anyone wants out of their musical action RPG. You’ll most likely lose interest quickly and quit out without any desire to return to the world of AereA. The presentation is beautiful thanks to the colorful visuals and a delightful soundtrack, but it falls under the shadow of mundane and repetitive gameplay, a complete lack of challenge and a confusing navigation system that forces you to waste most of your time backtracking. It's an action RPG with no action and it’s just not fun.
