A proper [if short] RPG which perfectly captures the joys of Adventure Time. [October 2018, p.94]

If you’re an avid viewer of Adventure Time, then it’s worth experiencing for the narrative at least, but everyone else should wait for Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion to get a discount.

Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion is a great introduction to turn-based combat for those who need such a thing. Its systems work well and the repainting of typical RPG elements with Adventure Time hues is a joy for fans. Unfortunately, the combat is so easy that for many fans, especially adults, it can all feel like it's mind-numbingly simple. Still, if you're a big enough fan of the franchise and just want another game set in the world of Ooo, this is the best Adventure Time game to date.

Taking between five and six hours to complete the main story, Pirates of the Enchiridion isn’t the longest game you’re going to play this year. It’s not even the most original, or most engaging. But it has charm, fun, and character in droves.

A nice game for the lovers of the animated series, partly ruined by a hasty ending and some technical problems.

The easiest answer I have for that is to just not buy this game, even now that its price has been dropped to $30. Adventure Time fans deserve better. Kids deserve better. If this game goes on a deep discount I’m sure there’s at least $10 worth of content here, but honestly there’s still better games to spend that money on.

I’m not a big fan of licensed game’s because they often feel like a shadow of what they could be instead of following the series or filmI’m not a big fan of licensed game’s because they often feel like a shadow of what they could be instead of following the series or film they’re trying to emulate. Every once in a while though there’s a licenced game that gets it right and I’ve especially found this to be the case when it comes to the Adventure Time series. Don’t get me wrong not all of the Adventure Time game’s have been fantastic but none of them have really been bad either, and I’m pleased to say that this new game Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion is actually pretty good. I’ve always enjoyed the story that has been present in the Adventure Time game’s and thankfully it’s no different with this game. The story is interesting from start to finish and it has some decent humour thrown in for good measure even if some of it does feel a little forced. The setting of the game is perfect for this story and the world in which the game takes place is packed full of charm, which in turn meant exploring it was both fun and enjoyable throughout my time with the game. You’ll also be pleased to know then that the gameplay that accompanies the story is also fun and enjoyable. In fact I would go as far to say that in terms of gameplay it’s probably the best I’ve ever experienced in an Adventure Time game. The main reason why I think the gameplay is the best I’ve ever experienced in an Adventure Time game is because it has a few neat and interesting mechanics. These mechanics when in full flow are absolutely brilliant and they do a great job of keeping things fun and most important of all addictive so in the end it makes carrying on with the game a very easy ordeal. The combat elements in the game have also been well done and I never got bored when I was in combat. You will however have to deal with a few technichal issues every now and then but thankfully none of these issues are anything major so in the end you’re easily able to look past them. When it comes to licensed game’s I expect the presentation side of the game to be as close to the actual product as can be, and I’m pleased to say that they’ve done a great job here. The visuals and sound design both follow the Adventure Time series closely and this makes playing the game both immersive and fun at the same time, which is great. At the end of the day Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion is a game that can be enjoyed by gamers of all ages. It’s very fun and addictive and even though it has a few shortcomings It gets far more right than it gets wrong and it does more than enough to get a thumbs up from me. Full Review »

Finn & Jake deserve better... I love adventure time but this doesn’t do the series justice. It just feels kind of dead. Much preferred theFinn & Jake deserve better... I love adventure time but this doesn’t do the series justice. It just feels kind of dead. Much preferred the semi-decent “Finn & Jake’s Investigations” to this one. Maybe someday they’ll get it right. This game is not Mathematical, it’s anti-math. Full Review »

Good writing and nice presentation. However, it's a very short campaign, and there are some bugs that can hinder the experience.
