  • Summary: Active Neurons is a game that trains the player in spatial logical thinking.

By controlling the power of thought, you must charge the neurons. The more the neurons are charged, the healthier the brain becomes. The healthier the brain becomes, the more of a fully-fledged life the person will live.

Active Neurons on Xbox One provides a pleasant and enchanting experience, with its few hours of running time near perfect for what it delivers. You can complete this game at your own pace, maybe a few levels a day, or purge it all in one afternoon. And that said, while some points are reasonably tricky, it is never soul-draining, instead creating a relaxing atmosphere that ensures you are never left frustrated or stressed.

The simplicity and seamless movement between levels and menus, combined with the ambient soundtrack and gently glowing visuals will naturally draw anyone into the game. Considering that the player is essentially just moving a little white block in only 4 directions it is a surprisingly enjoyable experience overall. Active Neurons is simple, yet effective and certainly worth the low entry fee.

Active Neurons acclaims itself to train the player's brain in spatial logical thinking. You control the "Power of Thought" as you move a square around a map. The concept is a lot like Chips Challenge, as you have to move around an area to solve a puzzle and make it to the end. The catch is you can't control how far you move, that is determined by the obstacles on the various stages. Once you move you will continue to move until you hit a block. Various block have various qualities, some you can move around, some will cause you to automatically move in a given direction when hit, and some are simply immovable. This game seems simple at first, but it will exercise the dendrites and flare off some of your own neurons along the way. The puzzles range in complexity, but they will all make you think, even the obvious ones. I lost track of time moving around the Power of Thought and charging not only the Neurons in the game but my own in the process. After a few hours of teleporting around stages, and figuring out opening a few gates, I decided I needed to give my tired mind a break. Puzzle fans here's your new friend! Active Neurons is one of the more impressive brain games I've played in a long time, and if you're a fan of thinking games, snap up this title up! Expand
