Aborigenus on Xbox One feels like an idea that was good inside the developer’s head, but a sloppy mess when put to paper. It’s a world that lacks focus, identity and, most importantly, any sense of fun.

Your Village was attacked, and many members taken away. Warriors were sent to retrieve them but never returned. So you set out across the Flying Islands to rescue them. The Game is short and doesn't give much in how to do things. The brief tutorial text you're given doesn't even tell you how to jump. My playthrough lasted about 45 minutes, this length I believe was due to my trial and error in how to use the various abilities you pick up along the way. None of the abilities are explained, and your never taught really how to use them. The length of the game made it feel like I didn't have any time with these abilities. The overall gameplay was super simplistic, too much so in some cases. You can't jump from vines, you can only fall from them to the left or right, making some "jumps" frustrating. Combat always seemed to result in hopping the bad guy and making a jab or two at it's back before repeating the process. Aborigenus is lacking in a lot of aspects, and the translation leaves some of the lines completely confusing or lacking meaning at all. You aren't getting much with this game, even for its low price. Being a fan of old school platforming Aborigenus left me wanting a lot more. Expand
