A Fold Apart was a game that hit close to home for me. Given the current circumstances in the world today I take it I won’t be alone. It is definitely a game that will tug at your heart strings. Besides a few glitches and repetitive puzzles at times, A Fold Apart has a meaningful story that many will enjoy.

A Fold Apart on the Xbox One is a wonderful love story wrapped up in a very well-designed puzzle game. It’s an incredibly relatable game for anyone that has ever spent any time away from a loved one, or someone who has to deal with internal demons on a regular basis. And for those that haven’t, you could well learn a thing or two here about mental health in general.

The game is more oriented to puzzle lovers, however anyone looking for a short story full of feelings and passion should give it a try.

From the start, you get to chose what I believe is the main character's gender roles. Then you get dropped into some charming animations that tell the story so far. Your characters fall in love, and a job takes one of them far away. Now with texting as their main source of communication, they try to make due the days apart. You'll control the characters as they move throughout their days, the pages turn into place as they pass from scene to scene. This transition is powerful and lends to the already deep overtone to the story. As they walk along they have a text conversation, you can choose what to type sometimes, but I haven't noticed much of a difference from these selections. When the overtone of the conversation could be taken wrong, you enter into a puzzle. The puzzles are played on pages, each page has two sides. You solve the puzzle by folding and flipping the page to navigate the platforms and reach the star, or end of the area. Each puzzle completed reveals a revelation from the character, slowing turning their mood towards a better light. A Fold Apart touches on the strain distance can put on a relationship while providing a challenging puzzle environment. If you enjoy logic puzzles and a good emotional story, A Fold Apart delivers both. Expand
