    2064: Read Only Memories is a complex, adult, and rich adventure, with plenty of charismatic characters, a cool design and a stunning soundtrack.

    2064: Read Only Memories is a well told futuristic story that does so many things right. The retro cyberpunk setting and soundtrack is a joy, and it feels like everything you do in the game has an impact. Characters actually have their own personalities, and the puzzles often have different outcomes that require some thinking on your part. Sadly, the game is let down by a few issues that can't be forgiven. Even for a narrative driven game, there is an awful amount of reading to pick through. Worse than that, though, the controls will cause you issues on numerous occasions where the d-pad and analogue stick are both involved. Overall, though, the game can be deemed a success, and your journey with Turing is one well worth experiencing.

    In order to make a successful point and click adventure you have to have certain elements that keep you interested throughout because pointIn order to make a successful point and click adventure you have to have certain elements that keep you interested throughout because point and click adventures often lack memorable gameplay. Thankfully 2064: Read Only Memories has a story that makes you forget about the lack of gameplay and they’ve done a wonderful job here. The story is absolutely fantastic when it gets in full flow and the memorable characters really make the story shine profusely. The voice actors do a good job of bringing the story to you, but it was a little difficult to distinguish which character was which at times. I love a game that has multiple endings and thankfully 2064 has a few multiple endings and the best thing is that each ending is interesting and worth playing to get to. Each ending makes you discover more parts of the world and that’s fantastic because they’ve done a wonderful job of making the world feel alive at every turn. In terms of the gameplay it is unfortunately lacking a bit, but that’s what I’ve come to expect from these types of game’s but I would still have liked a bit of mixing up here. I will say though that the game does have puzzles that interested me and whilst some people may not like them I actually found them to be interesting and they did a great job of breaking up the usual gameplay. I must admit I was surprised that there was no autosave included though and that was a pain at times. The presentation side of the game is awesome on so many scales and it really does give the game an extra layer. Visually the pixel art graphics have a lovely charming side to them and the accompanying soundtrack is perfect and fits the game’s style extremely well. At the end of the day I’ve heard a lot of good things about 2064: Read Only Memories and I can see why now. They do a great job of capturing your imagination whilst being serious at the same time and the way they go about things is a breath of fresh air at times. It does have a few niggling problems here and there but these don’t take away from the game that much, which is great. If you like a thought-provoking story and you’re a massive fan of point and click adventures then you will absolutely adore this game and without a doubt it gets a big thumbs up from me.… Full Review »
