  • Summary: 1971 Project Heliosis a turn-based strategy game which combines modern warfare military tactics and close combat. Firearms and vehicles are scarce, conflicts and hostilities have no end, and the terrible freezing cold annihilates friends and foes in its path.

    1971 Project Helios on Xbox One has a lot of good ideas, but the execution of those ideas is not quite as good as it could have been. The story is very immersive indeed, and the tension between group members is a high point. Sadly, the lack of basic things like a map to check where you've been, the chance to enjoy any tactical possibilities save all out attack, and generally poor controls and visibility make it more frustrating than it needs to be.

    1971 Project Helios is an Action Strategy Game. In a frozen snow covered Post-Apocalyptic world you play as Emile and Hanna a pair of1971 Project Helios is an Action Strategy Game. In a frozen snow covered Post-Apocalyptic world you play as Emile and Hanna a pair of freelancers that get mixed up in a search for Dr. Margaret Blythe. Along the way you will acquire six more characters, giving you a total of eight characters to play with. Each comes with their own abilities and weapons. Overwatch is an ability that you will use with every character allowing them tonattack any enemy that enters a specific range. You get to take up to four allies into battle with you. You are taken through several different environments and everything is portrayed with gentle cell shading, the art is well thought out. The story is enough to hold together the stages, its nothing impressive but yeilds to some decent character development along is fairly short duration. The environmental musics are nice and feel right with the given areas. The battle music is great at first, but slowly began to grind on me as I engaged in tactical combat. Combat is turn based strategy. Taking many cues from its predecessors, Project Helios also brings a few of its own ideas to the table. What u felt hurt the gameolay the most was the characters automatically take positions at the start of combat, weakening the ability to enter combat strategicly. Combat was fun none the less, but did leave me wanting a few features. 1971 is a solid game that delivers a good stand alone experience in a well built world, and satisfying turn based combat.… Expand
