Dec 19, 2011Essentially, Xotic is a fun distraction that has the potential to become a great franchise.
-
Jan 16, 2012The unique art style and combo based scoring can become addictive, if that's your thing, but if you're looking for something to blast a ton of bad guys and take on human opponents, you may want to look elsewhere.

Official Xbox Magazine UKJan 10, 2012Not perfect, but decent gun-run fun. [Jan 2012, p.103]
-
Dec 9, 2011While the combat side might not be stellar, it's not particularly tough to contend with. Simply clear out the enemies infesting each stage and then turn your focus on scoring points and you'll still get a kick out of it.
-
Games Master UKJan 12, 2012A fairly bland game. [Feb 2012, p.91]
-
Jan 23, 2012The concept behind Xotic is fun, but it isn't executed in a good way. The graphics, audio and overall production values just disappoint and never really seem to impress.
-
Nov 28, 2011First-person shooter Xotic sure lives up to its name with surreal, fast-flowing gameplay.
-
Dec 7, 2011Xotic offers up a fairly mediocre FPS offering for the 800ms points you'll be dropping on it.
-
X-ONE Magazine UKFeb 1, 2012There's a crude leveling system. [Issue #81, p.103]

Dec 14, 2011There is a good game somewhere in the hybrid FPS/arcade title Xotic, but it's buried beneath gameplay mechanics that don't go well together. Collecting points, going for high scores, and zipping through levels for the fastest time is both fun and challenging, but having to slow the pace down to hunt and kill every enemy in order to advance takes away from what could have been a great title. Overly complicated controls and confusing visuals don't help either.
-
Jan 16, 2012Keep your hands off Xotic. These 800 MSP should rather be invested elsewhere.
-
Official Xbox MagazineMay 26, 2011The fact that every cheap death forces you to start a mission over from scratch is just the final nail in Xotic's suffocating coffin. [July 2011, p.81]
-
Dec 27, 2011A dissapointing game, based on a strange universe, without a decent story and lackluster gameplay.
-
Jan 29, 2012I have had to concede it a good score in terms of value. Although it has much of the polish of a $100+ title, Xotic can be yours for only 800 Microsoft Points. I'm genuinely impressed by the production values for a game in this league. I just don't want to play it again.
-
Jan 24, 2012Xotic is terrible in most respects and unremarkable or flat-out boring in all others.

Dec 6, 2011To use an easy analogy crutch, the Xotic aesthetic is what I imagine would come from Terry Gilliam's seed and Tim Burton's egg. The worlds have a distinct, twisted, colorful look. Each space is so littered with warped objects and fluorescent lights, though, that it becomes difficult to separate enemies, point items, and multiplier and damage pickups from the environment.
