    With WRC 3 Milestone managed to improve its series with a satisfying driving model and a lot of contents for rally fans; it still needs some work in the graphics department, but this third episode marks a good step forward in the right direction. Highly recommended to racing and rally lovers.

    WRC 3 is one of the best rally experiences of this generation. Genuine in the driving feeling and complete on the structural side of the production. A must have for every passionate driving gamer.

    The graphics are dated and there are a few bugs, but there's lots of fun to be had in Milestone's latest.

    It's not a brand-new game but it certainly gives that feeling; WRC3 has lots of content to offer with a bunch of new additions to the gameplay's core. It's a good choice for rally-lovers and fans of the genre.

    There's really not much wrong with WRC 3. The controls are fine, cars are varied and the different game types and courses make for an interesting rally experience. The audiovisual presentation isn't of the same level though, which results in a lack of sensation in the gameplay. It also gets bogged down by some irritating mistakes.

    And away from the core experience, WRC 3 is lacking, if not a little regressive. The involved if slightly flabby career experience of previous games, which had you recruiting a team as you worked up through the ranks, has been replaced with a character-driven affair that apes Codemasters' more recent efforts while getting it horribly, horribly wrong.

    WRC 3 doesn't have enough modes and drives quite horrendously. The only upside to the game are the licensed drivers and tracks. This, however, is not enough to qualify as a good racing game.

    It seems like developer Milestone just didn't listened to feedback fans of the series provided. As a result, the new WRC disappoints. The rally game lacks an original idea. It wants to be DiRT, but isn't. A budget title according to us.

    Without any visible reinvention or revolution, WRC 3 is left looking embarrassingly dated. The WRC license has been recreated with impressive accuracy, and there's a serviceable sim underneath the awkward handling, but the entire package is painfully weak compared to its competition. If this is rally, feel free to count us out

    Overall it seems for everything good WRC 3 has, there are three or four bad things. It's not the easiest game to pick up and play and it certainly isn't that fun. Serious fans of rally sport will probably enjoy this game, purely because of their love for the sport. As for the rest of us, there's plenty other games around which your time would be better spent playing.

The feedback is fantastic is this game, each surface is modelled in a different way and once you master dirt, then snow, then fast open stages on tarmac, then a combination..it's is refreshingly challenging. The difficulty curve in the career mode is perfect, and at 50% through I'm starting to really feel the pressure to perform. It's not a total sim ala Richard Burns Rally (although there is a PC mod which fixes this), but it is a good trade off and very similar to the original Colin Mcrae games. Landing the perfect slides, scandanavian flicks and jumps is incredibly rewarding..especially when the pressure of attaining that first place remains elusive. Graphics are a mixed bag, but on the whole I like the most of the large number of stages. There are enough tracks here to fill several Dirt 3 games, really putting Codemasters lack of content to shame. The menus and dub step unfortunately heavily distract from the wonderful ingame experience. I noted a few minor bugs with menu presses not registering, ocassional frame rate issues, and green cars as textures loaded..but nothing game breaking.     Milestone improves on their WRC series with each new release. Few racing series make perfect releases each time, even the old Colin McRae Rally games and the WRC games by Evolution Studios had their problems back in the days. Something rally "fans" forget far too easily. The same goes for modern racing series like Codemaster's Dirt and F1 series. Each new game is a gradual improvement of the last. Just as some people don't see an improvement or change in the F1 games by Codemasters or the Forza games by Turn10, some people refuse to see an improvement in the WRC series by Milestone. People are biased. The fact is WRC 3 does a good job balancing sim and arcade experiences, both are needed to sell enough copies, just look at Forza and GT, which have become forced to adapt to a changing consumer market where the majority now wants quick and simple racing. The majority of racing gamers today do not want to spend hours honing their skills. It was different in the PS2 era, but you can't turn back time. Hardcore rally gamers need to move with the times and not live in the past. If you want your business to survive you need to adapt, which is what Codemasters did when they successfully changed the format of the Colin McRae/Dirt games. You can't expect WRC to look as good as a Dirt game when the Dirt series has a significantly larger consumer base and therefore gives Codemasters significantly more money to put in their games. Graphics are the most expensive component of any game.But I digress too much, WRC 3 is a fun rally racing game that sits somewhere between sim and arcade just like the Dirt games do. The difference is that WRC is based on traditional rally racing whereas Dirt focuses on Rallycross, they are not the same thing, they offer different types of rally racing experiences.… Full Review »
