  1. The 2005 and 2006 titles had their fair share of little hiccups, but this title irons out nearly all of them. From top to bottom, World Series of Poker 2008: Battle for the Bracelets is a solid Poker title – bring your chips – they’ll look good in my stack.

Computer AI is still as solid this year around, and the inclusion of Player of the Year points for the career mode and redone presentation, coupled with online rivals makes this game one of the best poker games out there.
  3. World Series of Poker 2008 is a great poker game. The AI is aggressive without obviously cheating and the underlying gameplay mechanics are solid.
  4. Each WSoP game has more for the player to do, but there’s not much to label as innovative. Hey, it’s poker...how innovative can it be?

If you're going to play poker with fake money, Activision Value's latest is the best way to do it on Xbox 360. [Holiday 2007, p.78]
  6. Arguably the best poker game on the market these days. The enhanced AI and depth of the career mode make the game more than just poker. However with the overlooks of the few visual effects, it has room for improvement in the coming editions.
  7. I see quite enough of Phil Hellmuth's tantrums and arrogance on ESPN2. I don't need him popping onto my screen every five minutes offering me advice.
  8. If you're just a casual poker fan or are looking for a way to brush up on your skills for friendly games, you'd probably be better off just playing online for free. WSoP '08 tries to go all in and steal the pot, but I'm here to call its bluff.
  9. The best poker on the Xbox 360. [Feb 2008, p.99]

Nothing wrong with a game of cards, but this one doesn't warrant the expense. [Feb 2008, p.84]

Just like watching these players on tv but with an extra layer of awkwardness. Presentation is both adequate and scary at the same time. TheJust like watching these players on tv but with an extra layer of awkwardness. Presentation is both adequate and scary at the same time. The gameplay is decent enough to get your poker fix in if you are in the mood to try it as a video game and the good news is you can binge play this or spread it out any way you like while consuming mass quantities of food and beverages of choice. Technically the Color is poor when you draw your hand it was difficult to tell what suit of cards you drew they all kinda look similar which seems to be the most common complaint. It's not unplayable by any means but certainly a common complaint which I will also agree to. Full Review »

High Stakes on the Vegas Strip on the Playstation 3 store is way better and much less to buy. This game doesn't have audio, video, or PSP remote play like High Stakes does. Also, the computer play is horrible and it is almost impossible to read anything on the screen unless you are two feet away. Save your money and get High Stakes which is supposed to be on the PSN on December 13th. Full Review »
