Is it me?... Or is activision starting to turn into EA sports. It seems like they are milking their franchises without putting too much effort into making them dramatically better. The only improvements are with the graphics and the Nail-the-Trick feature. The controls were always right and a skateboarding game can only do so many things as far as storyline goes but in the areas it could improve it did. The only reason I've downgraded this to a 9 is that I feel like we've taken a few steps backwards as far as the create-a-skater/create-a-skatepark goes. Project 8 gets a score of 8. The "Nail the Trick mode" is a cool new addition. The graphics are good and the game is fun. There was only two things I did not like. The first thing I did not like was the constant annoying messages left on my video phone after every 2 or 3 challenges I completed; it gets old quick. The second thing I did not like was that after I was in Project 8 the team Project 8 gets a score of 8. The "Nail the Trick mode" is a cool new addition. The graphics are good and the game is fun. The second thing I did not like was that after I was in Project 8 the team (which I could not wait for since I was rank # 200) there was no motivation to become #1. I got on the team and then I had to go back and try to complete the same missions I already completed on sick and pro level(which I already attempted 100 times and failed.) Overall this game is good, which is why I gave it an 8. Expand

Damn. I'm not new to the series, I played and loved almost every Tony Hawk game. I expected great thinks from this next gen version. Woah. It's like playing on a pc game when you don't meet the reccomended requirements, and you can't lower the detail. It's not unusual to screw up missions for a sudden frame rate drop, and it's known how much precision is required for the harder tasks of these games. Putting tasks to do everywhere is a nice thing, but the way it has been done results often confusing, making you wonder where do you have to go to complete them, as a consequence of poor level design. But still, what really pisses me off are these awful framerate issues. They are a constant through the game. And I can't accept them on a console, and even less on a 360, which proved to be able to handle much more than that. It's just BAD programming. What is really painful is that it killed a pretty good game, potentially the best of the series. I hope next episode will be better, maybe the new development kits produced by microsoft will help even the most inable programmer. Expand

This is an OK game, but it should seriously be rated M. i mean, there is a lot of blood, and there's white paste that comes out of your body. that is blood AND gore! its just plain old disgusting. skate says it has blood and gore, but there's hardly any. this is just how i see the game.

This game is fun. I don't have much to say about it outside of the fact that its just like every other new Tony Hawk game, the same as the last one with new places and new modes. The good thing about this one is the tutorial and the sandbox effect.

An all-around solid game, kicking the board around at your leisure is always nice. Physics good, music good, looks good. I love playing it. I'm addicted a little bit.

They pulled it off with the 720p visual graphic upgrade. The game might not be revolutionary, but this is number 8 folks. The controlls were alway spot on. Now with the power of 360, so are the visuals/ physics.

I used to really enjoy the Tony Hawk games but now it seems as if the new Tony Hawks become more and more limited. In my opinion this is where the "Down Hill Jam" started. The Nail the trick feature was a rip off of Skate that was just a more complicated way to do tricks that I only used when forced to by the game. Coming here 10 years down the line, I have to say it for those in the back:
TONY HAWK'S PROJECT 8 IS NOT A BAD SKATING GAME, it's a bad Tony Hawk's Game.

Now when I say 'bad' I don't mean it's a terrible game that doesn't work, I mean that it's extremely disappointing for a Tony Hawk Game game. For it's time Project 8 didn't really throw all that much new stuff into the mix compared to previous Tony titles, but I personally think (having gone back to it recently) that this game does a fantastic Job of just being fun...in the Xbox 360 version at least.

The reason I say this is because the Xbox 360 (& PS3) versions had no loading screens between areas, making it an open-world skating game before SKATE. The world may have been on the small side compared to SKATE, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't and don't still enjoy just skating around the open world doing combos.

This missions in this game ranged from extremely fun and satisfying to extremely unfair and rage-worthy, but I never felt like I HAD to complete every single mission to its best. Heck, the game basically ends once you reach rank 8. since all you unlock for reaching rank 1 is some extra skaters, tricks and a Pro Bails Video. So I'm pretty grateful for that, it meant I could just enjoy what was on offer and not be forced to do a mission I hated or just found really hard, I could just take my time.

Project 8 isn't perfect, but it makes an effort, and I respect that.

It also starred Jason Lee who was later featured in Skate 3. Unfortunately, there are a few flaws with this game that does not make it my favorite in the series. First, the bail system is awful. The hospital bill has bad controls and its very frustrating. It's like a worse version of the Hall of Meat in the EA Skate series. Second, the Sick challenges are ridiculously difficult that I question if the developers tested the goals. Finally, this games takes out a lot of customization from previous installments including less features the Create-A-Skater, no Create-A-Park, and several other creation features are absent. Despite the flaws, Tony Hawk's Project 8 is still a pretty good Tony Hawk game. Expand

A really solid skateboarding game full of content, with hidden objectives and side missions or unlockable content. There are tons of hours of fun in here and its always fun just skating around going for crazy tricks because the combos are endless and speed is intense.

While the Nail the Trick feature is brilliant, it’s just one small addition to what is largely the same game. Yes, it is now one seamless world, but that doesn’t necessarily make for a better experience. In fact, the level design may have suffered because of it.
  2. Neversoft has created the most realistic skate title ever made. The graphics, animation, sound, challenge system, and Live integration has created a game that will challenge the legendary "Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2" for its crown as the king of the series.

What Neversoft has built in Tony Hawk's Project 8 is, without a doubt, its masterpiece. The series has evolved into a sort of "evens are groundbreaking, and the odds are great" formula, but not only is this the greatest of the series, it's the best entry since "THPS4," which has long been the series' crowning achievement.
