Apr 12, 2012Simply put, it's a fantastic and simple puzzle game that allows you to freely think of a solution, rather than being forced into a predetermined one. For the 800 Microsoft Points, it gets a solid recommendation from me towards any puzzle lover.
-
Apr 12, 2012The Splatters is a game that from first view feels like it should have been made for iOS rather than XBLA, but from the moment you start playing you will not regret your purchase. Game play is challenging but without ever become dull or too complex. It is only 800 Microsoft Points too and very much worth every penny you will pay.
-
Apr 9, 2012Despite a few nitpicks here and there, I can't compliment it enough. The Splatters is a truly wonderful game, one that reminds us how terrific a platform Xbox Live Arcade was during its prime and still has the potential to be. Go add points to your account and download this immediately.
-
May 23, 2012The Splatters is a physic driven skill game with much style and lovely design. Download it – because you shouldn't miss it!
-
Apr 9, 2012If stupendous puzzler Peggle and the cute gelatinous hero from de Blob had a teleportation accident à la Jeff Goldblum and the common household pest in The Fly, then The Splatters would be the result - except it'd be totally awesome and not a hideous Brundlefly monstrosity.
-
May 3, 2012Don't let The Splatters' obscure XBLA release and goofy first impression scare you off. It's much better than the churning majority of physics puzzle games stinking up app stores and digital services these days. What you'll find is a quirky, funny arcade game that takes a lot more skill and timing than you'd expect. For puzzle and arcade fans it's definitely worth the 800 MS point price of admission.
-
Apr 20, 2012The Splatters is an incredibly charming physics lesson that puts equal emphasis on puzzles and skills. Unfortunately it is quite short and lacks variety.
-
Official Xbox Magazine UKMay 30, 2012Equal parts fun and frustrating. [June 2012, p.103]
-
Apr 30, 2012A very good game, that despite not being perfect it achieves to entertain, offers three modes of play and great gameplay. It is simple but visually attractive, and quite an addictive game.
-
Apr 19, 2012SpikySnail's Niv Fisher worked on physics-based sims in the medical field before trying game design, and it's the impressive physics that really make The Splatters as fun as it is.
-
Apr 17, 2012The Splatters' simple mechanic of flinging liquid to destroy bombs feels like a cross between Angry Birds and Peggle in all the right ways. You have a lot of control over the direction of your flying splatters, but an element of luck (maybe too much) determines how many bombs you are able to take out. When you mess up, blaming the game is easy, but the successful runs make it worth trying again over and over.
-
Apr 13, 2012That gripe aside, for a simplistic puzzle game for such a low price I can't find much of anything wrong with The Splatters. The control is tight, it looks great, contains a significant number of puzzles, and it's light on bells and whistles. It's everything to expect from the price point but is definitely an amusing way to spend a few minutes at a time, not meant to suck hours and hours into.
-
Apr 12, 2012The Splatters ultimately feels as much like the heir to Trials HD as to Rovio's feathery world-beater. Maybe it belongs on XBLA after all.
-
Apr 9, 2012A fun and addictive take on the physics puzzle genre, and one that brings something new and unique to the genre. While the whole of the experience isn't very long and there are a few frustrating control issues here and there, it's still an engaging experience with plenty to draw fans of the genre looking to get their hands dirty.
-
Apr 27, 2012All in all, The Splatters is an interesting puzzle game that is more fun to play as you gradually grow to understand it. It doesn't always do a great job of explaining itself to the player, and it can be frustrating to learn, but when everything clicks, you'll definitely have some fun with it. It's certainly not a flawless experience, but it is worth checking out.
-
Apr 18, 2012The Splatters is a fantastic and simple puzzle game recomended for any puzzle lover.
-
Apr 29, 2012Is The Splatters a good game? On a certain level: yes. It feels great to fire creepily laughing slimeblogs. The difficulty however leads to an incredibly tedious gameplay experience. Simply said, this game is not suited for everyone. You're warned.
-
Apr 27, 2012Spiky Snail's first work will wake up your brain cells, and if the game mechanics were more comprehensible and more straightforward, it could be an even more truly addicting game.
-
Apr 19, 2012The Splatters is a solid game that simply didn't capture my attention. That doesn't mean it won't capture yours. I highly recommend checking out the demo and deciding if this is your type of puzzle game. On a strictly functional level, the game does everything right, and it does it well. It is hard to fault a game that has nothing structurally nothing wrong, but to me, The Splatters just lacked that magic to make it my next addiction.
-
Apr 18, 2012Doing tricks and nailing tough shots can be rewarding, and the movement and sliding of the Splatters helps it feel more unique than the multitude of Angry Birds clones out there. The simplicity of the mechanics, however, doesn't always translate to addictive gameplay, and you may soon grow tired of performing the same actions over and over again, especially when it feels that success is owed more to luck than skill.
-
Apr 9, 2012The enjoyable and derivative The Splatters proves that slime can get just as physical as any angry avians you might know.
-
Apr 30, 2012Five or six years ago The Splatters could have been one of the most addictive games on Xbox Live Arcade, but nowadays there are much better options.
-
Apr 25, 2012Despite the large number of levels, the similarity of each experience breeds monotony, and there simply isn't enough to the core gameplay to justify either the amount of content or the price tag attached to it. It overstays its welcome.
-
Apr 25, 2012If you get along with the trial and error concept, you may get some enjoyment out of The Splatters.
-
Apr 20, 2012Chaining together long stunts to take out bombs in style while simultaneously racking up huge points can be satisfying, but repetition soon sets in. With the slightly imprecise controls, one-screen levels and play suited for shorter sessions The Splatters would feel more at home on a mobile device than the TV screen.
-
Apr 13, 2012Feels like some lost XBLA title from 2006, like it just wandered in from the cold after years adrift at sea, totally unaware of what's happened in the six years that transpired since. Its insubstantial puzzle mechanics and generally bare-bones presentation are the stuff of yesteryear, somehow transplanted into a time that's all but forgotten that games like it ever existed.
-
Apr 12, 2012It certainly won't be troubling Angry Birds in terms of the number of downloads but this is an amiable, if derivative and repetitive, action puzzler all the same.
-
Apr 10, 2012Provides a decent distraction for a few hours, but the $10 (800 MS points) price tag is a bit steep for a fairly simple puzzler. Aside from Master Shots mode, some neat physics, and the fact that you're playing with goo, the rest of the game gets dragged down by the lack of variety and overly straightforward gameplay.
-
Jun 18, 2012The Splatters turns out to be an interesting past time experiment in goo enshrouded physics. Played in short bouts it can be fun, but players may find loss of interest over time.
-
Apr 24, 2012It just falls flat, showing small signs of life, but otherwise just not worth your time.
-
Apr 19, 2012A lot of charm and plenty of levels, but the frustration and mundanity soon kicks in.
-
May 7, 2012In closing, as said before, it's nice for a game to be simple and get right to it, but only the very few combo-obsessed high-score junkies will follow The Splatters all the way to the end.
