Having played the single player campaign pretty much straight for 3 days I was impressed. My friend had said he got bored and found it repetive but I thought this was a brilliant game. I loved being able to control so many aspects of my own empire and loved the neat touch of the full character creation. I think the rating of the 60's is very harsh to what is a decent free-roamer but with a good accompanying story line. It's no San Andreas but then it doesn't try to be, it's a good original idea which I feel has been executed well. Expand

This game is the perfect synergy of RTS and FPS games! you can defend all your fronts by yourself, or you can send your family there through an RTS-like "don's view" window, in first person, there are very deep squad controls and a very obedient and wise AI. all around a very great game.

After i beat the game i said to myself hey ill go give it a good score on metacritics. I also thought to myself that it would be in the 90's or 80's but the 60's really? This game is absolutely amazing one of the greatest games to come out in a really long time. Everyone should give this game a chance its epic!

Very Similar to other Sandbox style games (Saints Row 1 and 2, GTA) although the missions are much more repetitive and the storyline is a sub-par fictional side story from the film. The game is easy to play, almost too simple at times as its difficulty is beyond 'easy' at times. Technically it needs polishing, but I haven't found any glitches or mistakes that have really detrimentally affected game play (aside from the time I got stuck behind a safe door). Overall an above-average game that builds on its predecessor, but falls short of the GTA and Saints Row franchises. Expand

A major disappointment. The game deserves credit for its strategy system, blackhand combat, and crew specialities, but that's about it. Still, even these strong points, with the exception of blackhand, are watered down and not detailed as they could have been. On the negative side, the writing and story are TERRIBLE, there isn't a whole lot to do other than take over buildings, and the world just graphically looks BAD. I like that they tried to put in an RPG-like dialogue system but there arent enough choices and the dialogue is simply poorly done and cheesy. Also, there isn't even a jump button in the game, which is the simplest of things EA could have done considering every other sandbox game has it. I hated running around ridiculous mazes just to get to a certain point when in Saints Row or GTA, I could have just jumped over a box to get to the other side. Overall, the game doesn't feel like it has anything to do with the Godfather movies... it feels like something separate. Expand

I wanted to live and breathe in the world of the movies, not play a repetetive run and gun board game. there were some good ideas but in the end, it wasnt enough. the maps were too tiny, the story was boring, there wasnt enough to do, not enough cars, and poor graphics.

Some innovative concepts but they're not executed well. Less than stellar gameplay, sub-par visual presentation and animations, poor narrative and story elements, and tiny and lifeless maps.

As a fan of the first game i was somewhat dissapointed with the Godfather 2. I bought the game expecting the graphics to be sub par so when i played it it was no surprise. However, all the games trailers led me to believe that i would be in complete control and thus be like a Don. The game would let me do this by recruiting people to my family at will and generally let me control them as well as taking over rival bussnisess. But when i started the game it would only let me hire one guy and that was a choice between 2. Im okay with that for the initial tutorial elements but i fully expected to be given full reins to my family shortly in the future but i am 5 hours in and that is still not the case. Still many elements of the game have me hooked and I can hardly stop thinking about how to expand my criminal empire with my puny family. If you can live with sub par graphics, overly long tutorial elements, ridicously easy game play then i strongly urge you to purchase this game. Expand

"Godfather II" is not as bad as people try to make it out to be. Sure the graphics aren't totally up to date but the story is very enjoyable, especially if you already know the Godfather story. One big accusation is that the game is very repetitive and while this may be true in some ways it isn't on most. The way you progress in the game is you have to take over certain rackets and and by controlling all of them you get a bonus, such as armored cars or body armor. Because there are many different types of rackets there is a need for constant racketeering thus making people state that this game is repetitive. Personally, I did not find this too repetitive but at times did want to just get through it and move on to the next mission. The "3D" map mode was an interesting concept if you were looking at it from street view the whole time but most of the time will be seen from overhead view which did not look as impressive. The length of the game pretty good (approximately 15 hours) and sort of immerses you in the life of a Don. Overall "Godfather II" is a very good open world third person shooter that offers a lot of fun and a good story. Expand

Good game, but just lacks the grit that the first one had, it's not dark enough, there's not enough blood and guts of the world. The made members of your family was definately a good addition to the game. Overall it's good, and worth a play, but Mafia 2 seems to capture the period a lot better.

Simplemente una copia sin mejorias de grandes Juegos de este tipo como Saints Row y Grand Theft Auto es lo que me decepciona, triste historia para Electronic Arts

Awesome game that is very under rated. As good as the first game, if not better. Lots of new gameplay elements have been added. It's well worth a play through on any system.

Сюжета как такового нет, геймлей очень однотипен, графика не впечатляет, но в свое время перепрошел раз 8, чем так цепляла не знаю, физика машин хреновая, стрельба ниже среднего, но интереснее мафии 3

It isn't the best open-world game out there, but it does a sublime job of capturing what it feels like to be the head of a virtual crime family. [Apr 2009, p.81]

The Godfather 2 is a quite good, but too short GTA-style virtual criminal's sandbox. It doesn't look as impressive as "GTA IV", nor does it have as many things to do as "Saint's Row 2." [Mar 2009]
  3. Though it deftly combines action, strategy, and resource management, Godfather II simply never evolves. [May 2009, p.74]
