The only thing that I dislike about this game and many people will find me being Petit but waiting to enter through doors (loading screens) takes ages and this is the main point I don't play this game as much as I use to. This game can also be glitchy at times like the fallout games which could just be down to the Engine? Once you have the best armour on the game their is not really any point of moving on because your pretty much unstoppable. I would recommend this to people that love RPG's Expand

I like it for the reasons that many of the fanbase dislike it, because it is so different from its predecessors by successfully fusing action with RPG. This game almost feels like an MMO the way that NPC's comment on things like weather and work with you to kill dragons. It does inevitably become too easy when playing stealth or warrior, but pure mage on master setting is very satisfying. Did I mention the magic (and overall combat) in this game is awesome!

    2 Reasons this is not a 10:
There needs to be a way of switching between spells or weapon configurations quickly and without pausing the game. Playing any character that relies on magic takes 5 times as long because you have to keep pausing between every other attack.
There are an overwhelming number of bugs and glitches in this game. Bethesda is known for this in their games, and has done little to correct it because people find the glitches generally entertaining. Often times, however, they can be annoying or even game breaking. It is not a happy words that come from a gamers mouth when they just finally beat an epic battle with an elder dragon and a dragon priest (it happens) only to have the dragon priest body glitch into the ground to where you can't loot it.

Skyrim begins as does most Eldar Scrolls games do, you have little knowledge of what is going on and for new players you may also not even know what you are doing, but that doesn't matter as Bethesda does an amazing job of throwing you into the action almost instantly. The games mechanics stay true to previous Eldar Scrolls titles but also with the edition of new Shouts which you can wield in varying ways on the battlefield. They add a new dynamic to the game whilst not making you rely on them throughout, Magic and combat have stayed true to former titles, but now you can dual wield spells and create "Super spells" which are of a greater magnitude of power. Combat is simple and the most refreshing way of playing the game, it is very satisfying gutting your enemies and executing lethal finishing moves. Archery was my main choice in my first play through, it is another satisfying way of entering combat and both archery and close quarters combat have their pros and cons. The new skill trees let you enhance your character further to unending lengths, you can be whoever you want to be and do whatever you want to do, if you opt to become a war hammer wielding warrior you can be along with all the benefits that brings or you can be a deadly archer a silently kill your foes. The skill trees allow you to unlock abilities in each tier such as, one handed, archery, sneak, light Armour, destruction magic and smithing. Everything on offer benefits you and making your choice can sometimes be a tough one. The map of Skyrim is huge, it may not be as big as Cyrodil but that was Bethesda's aim, to fill the world more densely. You can't go 100 meters in the game without encountering something or someone and it all adds to the action. You can go where ever you want and do any quest or side quest you have been given whenever you wish. It really is all down to you. The graphics have been improved dramatically and add great detail to this diverse world of forests, barren icy lands, swamps and mountains. Characters facial animations have also improved and so has the voice acting alongside it, this really does make the entire world more easy to get into. Talking to people is now interesting and fun, you can always find out something from them. There are a few downsides to this masterpiece however, glitches are common but most have been patched, the frame rate can drop considerably at times, especially on the Xbox, also some quests can become tedious and although Bethesda has tried to vary every dungeon, a lot of them do look very similar and can become boring to play through. The DLC available is also top quality, I have both the Dawnguard and Dragonborn DLCs and found them very fun to play through, Dragonborn offers a whole new map to explore in Morrowind and Dawnguard gives you a brilliant quest line with an abundance of riches when completed. So overall, Skyrim is an absolute masterpiece in gaming and raises the bar to a whole new level for all games in the genre. An addictive and brilliant game earns a 9 out of 10 from me. Expand

To avoid any TL;DR issues with this review, take this away if nothing else: Skyrim is with little doubt THE best RPG of the last console generation, and it certainly is one of, if not THE, best games overall of that console generation.

To avoid any TL;DR issues with this review, take this away if nothing else: Skyrim is with little doubt THE best RPG of the last console generation, and it certainly is one of, if not THE, best games overall of that console generation.

The best praise that can be given to any game, but especially to an RPG, is that four whole years after its release, there still is a desire to go back to it and see what other things I missed in my two previous playthroughs (probably no less than 300 hours in total).

The only reasons I can think of as to why someone would not enjoy this game are that they do not enjoy games that require a large time investment (which this certainly does if you want to see the best of it); think fantasy settings are too cheesy/nerdy/uninteresting; or have played Bethesda games before and know that they aren't their cup of tea. If you have played any previous Elder Scrolls or Fallout game and come away feeling underwhelmed, you'd probably feel the same way with Skyrim.

But if none of the above apply to you and you haven't played this game...why are you reading this and not borrowing it or buying a digital copy?!?!

It has an enormous, beautiful, and in no way empty open world to explore. It has an engaging main quest with a fulfilling ending, excellent side quests to distract you from the main quest, and excellent DLCs that add not only content but features that extend the viability of the game (i.e. Legendary skills which essentially negate the base Level Cap). Like magic? There's plenty of that if you want it. Don't like magic? I never did, but you could almost certainly go through a whole playthrough without it.

This game is one of maybe five on my short list of 360 games I will go back and play around with after upgrading to an Xbox One. Play it if you haven't yet!

One of my main problems with this game (as was the case with Oblivion as well), is that you collect endless amounts of gold, but there is no real need to spend it. Everything you could ever want can be found while looting, so you just end up with an insane amount of gold by the time you finish. For me nothing is perfect, it will be pretty hard for earn my 10.0 in a critics, and Skyrim for me it's a 9.5 game, lets take a lot by topics:

    - Gameplay: A perfect mix of 3rd person and 1st, and every gameplay with every item it's good, with archery it's good, with sword is good, with all items there is a diferent gameplay for each category and each gameplay it's well made. I stay with 9.3 for the gameplay.

    - IA: 8.5 it's a good score for the IA, it works well, the problem it's some bugs, this usualy happens when the world is pretty pretty big and open, by the size of the world the bugs are minimal, but they are. I saw some delay from the enemies when I was going the fight with them, but this is minimal. I give 8.5 for the IA by the bugs, nothing more.

    - Level Desing: What to say eh? The wolrd is greatest and glorious, from the mountains to the grass, the level desing it's breathtaking and gloryous, well made and perfect for and RPG game, I give 10 easily.

    - Graphics: I stay with 9.0, for 2011 the graphics is pretty good, obviously was dificult for Skyrim to compete with Battlefield 3 for an example, but the graphics was pretty good.

    - Hitory: Takes 10 easily, man WHAT a histroy! The main one it's the dragonborn one where you kill dragons and make other things, but every sidemission has a history, from help a simple guy to enter in a assassin's brotherhood, absolutly perfect!

    - Cons: Further the minimal bugs, to complete the game 100% it's nearly impossible, about a month length, not a month playing 2 hours a day, a month playing 24 hours every each day, so the game extension is ridiculous and can disappoint the most hardcore gamer.

Finishing, it's a 9.5 game and one of the best RPG games ever made, one of the best games ever made, but isn't by TESV Skyrim that you must to creat expectatives for TES Online, witch is a pay MMORPG game.

Don't get me wrong it's a good game, but the quests aren't unique, the plot is simple and short, and there is little to no true rpg aspects about this game. Your actions have the most minimal consequences possible unlike the games predecessors. All that being said, the game runs smoothly, has nice gameplay, and has fixed a few of the kinks in Oblivion. Visuals: 9/10 - From long distances to medium distances, textures in this game are some of the best I've seen, but the problem is that if you get too close, you can see bits of pixilation and blurry spots.
Audio: 10/10 - Nothing is out of place here; everything sounds as it should sound. In-game battle music really changes the tone of combat, while non-combat music makes travelling long distances worthwhile.
Customisation: 7/10 - Great, but could be better. Add in a more detailed slider for eyes, nose, mouth, (Sims style sliders) maybe? This would add even more customisation choices for an already amazing feature.
Overall: 9/10 - Skyrim is an amazing piece of art. With superb gameplay and graphics, it's no wonder it's widely considered to be one of the best games ever made.

The problem is if the game were to load all at once at the beginning of the game it would take 45 + minutes. - well there is a main story, elder scrolls games are about lots of stories, different factions to join, armies to battle for skyrim, people to help and punish. The main story is essentially kill the main dragon. Cliche yes but great. You don't play skyrim for it's story, it only provides a backdrop of why your doing stuff. And that's perfectly fine. Doing all these stories and not just one, makes it deeper then anything though.

    Gameplay.
    - the most important thing. Well it's great. So many different options, all feel powerful, stealth works well, not 100% realistic but it's a fantsy game after all. The swords and mettle feel heavy, feel powerful, two handed weapons more so. Magic feels powerful and feels like you have total control at your fingertips. Stealth like an Assassin makes you feel dangerous and a professional and a thief makes you feel smart and silent. I have created numinous characters, to try out every style I could think of. And thier all fun. The one I enjoyed the most is conjuration- to create magical swords and summon creatures from oblivion to help and distract, one handed obviously for the bound sword spell, aletartion for magical armor and restoration for healing and ward spells to block breathe attacks from dragons etc. menu system is great, easy to navigate. Oh and Shouts? Their awesome. It adds like a 4th layer of gameplay here, and anyone can use it, and standardly there is 20 of them. To slow time, push enimies, burn them, freeze them etc.

    Graphics.
Looking closely is muddy. But take it as a whole it is great. Due to skyrims massive scale it can't be a crysis level looking game? Maybe with mods, but graphics look great no matter what. Framerate is stable, it can get iffy. Colours are amazing, landscape has so much variety.

    Sound.
Voice acting is great, soundtrack is best I've heard. Weapons, magic, have variations. Shouts are cool.

    Content.
Well this game is practically never ending, but max level is 50 (standard), lots of gear and customisation. I spent thoundands hrs of it. Different characters and such. High replay ability . Very high.

    Things I didn't like.
    - sometimes too much walking, got bored, wanted to fight something but nothing's around.
    - glitches, that repeating jumping sound. It's annoying, broken quests. Every 40hrs or so it will freeze.
    - loading screens, some are too long.
    - a lot characters sound same.

Overall a 9.7/10 no game is a 10 nothing is perfect, but this is close. Buy it, download it, mod it what ever just play it.

At the cost of conveying this message, the game seeks to depress you by lots of mud, dirt and grey snow. Gone are the days of quirky, funny and colorful Oblivion, and back to the dreary days of Morrowind. "Why, this is a positive!" one might say in response, as they sip from their "hardcore" coffee mug full of mountain dew.... Nay, it is a negative. While Morrowind's world was full of depth, originality and just plain awesomness, Skyrim is boring, bland and dreary.

Combat is over simplified, as are the skills. No longer can you be a class and label yourself as such, but choices are very much confined. Either you be a mage, assassin or warrior! No longer can you be a Bard, Rouge, Witchhunter or Pilgrim... A gameplay style other then combat is impossible.
The game is for morons, extremely linear and easy... Though still I enjoyed my time here, and there are most definitely positives, such as the epic sense of exploration, immersion and lore.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. people are very different it seems, some hate skyrim cuz its worse then oblivion, others hate oblivion cuz its worse then skyrim, others hate them both cuz morrowind is better.

or its too big and boring, its too easy, its cold feeling and too snowy while others felt oblivion was too much of the same also with green grass everywhere. so it cant have too much snowy places nor can it have too many grassy areas, seem we should just have ruined cities and desert for these people!!

the only thing i can agree on with them is the main quest is shorter then i would have wanted but people also said bad things about the main quest in oblivion, i felt the main quest at the ending or morrowind was bad(giant zombie thing?) otherwise if your that unsure of this game, dont listen to friends, just rent it. otherwise if you have to like exploreing open world areas, if you like that then you will like this game.

also some people were complaining there was no good armor around, like they leveled to 40 just hoping for some full set to drop in their lap? the best armor is stuff you make dude, its easy enough to get into smithing since your not constricted by major and minor skills anymore, so quit being lazy and make armor, then it will be good armor.

also I have seen people complain that the game is too easy cuz the armor is so over-powered for them now, so now people are getting too strong of armor while others are getting too little of armor?

rent the game, if you like it, then buy it. its been out for a long time now so it should be cheaper and the expansions make the game that much better, i love hearthfire mainly cuz i like building and haveing my own house and this lets you build 3 which are better then most if not any of the other house you can buy from being mister special thane of a town.

the island you go to(dragon born expansion) also gives you a house at some point and thats fun to explore and the vampire expansion is fun to fight them as well, even though if you experiance fighting the master vamps early on they are kinda impossible and i hope you have town guards around.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I honestly don't know why this game is praised this highly. Not at all. In fact, this game really makes me wonder what people look for in a game today.

    Good graphics? I agree.

The game-play, though, is already stale enough. It's way too difficult (I swear there has to be some sort of glitch... That stupid Frost Troll insta-kills me every time.)
The story? Bland, meh, average, overused.
    Characters? Nothing interesting here.

I don't see the point of buying this unless you're freaking Chuck Norris on steroids epic at games. This game is popular because of what? Perhaps the stupidest power in the game? Arrow to the knee? Another reasonless meme.

But I'll give it this: it's the best of a terrible series of games. Well done Bethesda. I buy my first Elder Scrolls game. I instantly lose the respect I had for you after playing Fallout.

In conclusion, not worth your money. Probably lower 50's/100.

There are many surprises and it is very emotional. There is an amazing amount of side-quests, with the entire package taking up about 300 hours for me. 10/10.
    Gameplay
In Skyrim, there are three different play-styles; the warrior, the archer, and the mage. Inside of each play-style lay dozens of sub-classes, such as the arch-mage or full on warrior. There is also stealth for some levels, but it is not very good. If you want a great stealth game, play Dishonored. These play-styles are acquired through natural progression; there are no classes, when you do an action it levels up that skill category. The combat system, however good, can feel a bit lofty at some times. 9.3/10.

You can spend hundreds of hours hunting dragons,, exploring dungeons, etc. in this game and the main story is pretty epic (along with the soundtrack).
Now for the negative. As close as I was to giving this game a 9/10, I gave it an 8/10 instead due to its long loading times (up to a full minute), frequent freeze-ups when exploring that sometimes last around ten seconds, glitches, and other aggravating elements (such as stage 4 vampirism where everyone wants to kill you and it's very difficult to get rid of).
Ultimately, it's a great action-RPG and if you haven't already played it, do so if you like the genre in the least. There's just so much to enjoy about it. If you can get past the technical issues, you'll love it.

I didn't much care for the setting. Cyrodiil had swamps and mountains and ports like Anvil. Skyrim's environments are pretty dull. It was disappointing lore-wise too. Instead of the fantasy ice land of endless mountain ranges we got a retconned pseudo-Scandinavia full of pseudo Scandinavians, full of things popular culture thinks are 'Viking' but in reality aren't.

Annoyingly, Bethesda saw fit to model Whiterun on Peter Jackson's version of Edoras in his Lord of the Rings movies, even though Tolkien's Rohirrim are in no way, shape or form linked to or inspired by Vikings, pseudo-Vikings or Scandinavians.

I put around 350 hours into Oblivion and its expansions. I put Skyrim down after around 15 and I've never felt the need to pick it up since.

Skyrim: Elder Scrolls for xbox 360 and other consoles. A creative installment from Bethesda studios. You play as your own customized Dragonborn, saving the world from the dreaded World Eater. (otherwise known as Alduin) But there’s no way you can save the world right away, not with all the distracting side quests.
Skyrim, being an open world, is riddled with side quest. You can take your character and their trusty companion down a tomb. Join the Dark Brotherhood, league of assassins. Or drag your tiny group up a mountain, just so you can shout a few goats off a cliff. However, if you choose to fight a dragon careful of the glitches. Glitches are basically everywhere in Skyrim, mostly when you're in combat with a dragon. Other than when you’re fighting, there’s flying mammoths, teleporting cat people, and giant frostbite spiders warping through cave walls. But once you push past those pesky glitches and level up, your Dragonborn will be strong enough to defeat the World Eater and save the world. You’ll be rewarded by your allies, respected by civilians, and maybe finally learn how to master that fire bolt spell.
Dragonborn, regretfully can’t be a dragon. There’s still many races to choose from, and combat perks. Be a High Elf, master of magic. Be a Nord, excerpt weapon wielder. Or maybe a normal Elf, an adept archer. Once you're done creating your Dragonborn, and maybe have played the game a few times, start modding. Turn dragons into Thomas the Trains, or normal villages into a city full of life. Geeze! You mine as well be the God of Skyrim and turn vampires into kittens! All this and more with the power of mods! But all in all, Skyrim was a fun game to mess with. There’s major plots and many nacks and jams you can get yourself into. The main quest is so-so, but I got so sidetracked and enjoyed other parts of the game so much, I could hardly build an opinion on defeating the main villain who planned on populating the world with nothing but dragons. There’s just so much about Skyrim, but so little time.
