Oblivion GOTY takes a badly glitched, excellent 9 out of 10 game and turns it into a slightly less glitched, longer, better experience. AllOblivion GOTY takes a badly glitched, excellent 9 out of 10 game and turns it into a slightly less glitched, longer, better experience. All you need to do to understand how great this game looks is take a look at any other first year 360 game. There is no comparison. Beautiful, vast, complex, intriguing, all of the things an Elderscrolls game should be. Before Skyrim came on the scene, this was the best game I had ever played, and in some respects still is. I have logged 180 hours on my character with all the expansions, have finished every mission, and am just wrapping up exploring every location. For it's time, perfect. Still highly enjoyable today as well. Expand

If you liked The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, you'll love the Game of the Year Edition. With two expansion packs: Shivering Isles and KnightsIf you liked The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, you'll love the Game of the Year Edition. With two expansion packs: Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine there is easily over 30+ hours of additional game play to be had. This game still has a high reply value. I bought the original and then sold it and bought the Game of the Year addition just to explore the new expansion packs.

I found this game to be addictive and easily one of the best RPG's I have ever played. Until the Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim comes out this Fall (November 2011) you can get your fill of hacking and slashing your way through this adventure.

Must play for all RPG fans.

Great game overall, but gets a little repetitive. Awesome concept and story but could have used more development in the end. The expansionGreat game overall, but gets a little repetitive. Awesome concept and story but could have used more development in the end. The expansion pack saved me from an unredeemable vampire cure glitch. Games like this need support and patch updates for this reason in my opinion. Expand

This feels like a step back into generic fantasy after the epic story and alien world of Morrowind,
There are so many bugs even all these years later. Missions glitches, NPCs not being where they're supposed to or disappearing altogether, terrible pathing issues leaving quests incomplete. This is especially egregious because Oblivion has a lot of escort missions, and squad-sized battles, and it does not work at all with this engine and AI.

Combat is mostly a slog. The level scaling for Oblivion is terrible to the point where it is best to not level your character after a certain point because enemies just turn into damage sponges. And of course being an Elder Scrolls games, it has what is in my opinion the worst leveling system amongst all RPGs. It encourages grinding skills to group attributes together, which is not fun.

Despite being my least favorite Elder Scrolls game, I still believe it's pretty good. because where else can you play a high fantasy game as large, detailed, and expansive as this? Elder Scrolls has always felt like the next iteration of the Ultima series, and with 165 hours to finish, it really is quite long.
