Xbox World 360 Magazine UKDec 2, 2011If anything, the fighting is more frustrating than ever. [Dec 2011, p.111]

Sep 9, 2011While some fans of the first two DeathSpank games might be willing to suffer through the sub-par combat to get that next pun, others will leave The Baconing with a bad taste in their mouths. This is a game that turns its back on what made its predecessors so fun to play in the first place. If you're somehow still interested and have yet to play the first two games you'll probably have more fun with one of those.

Aug 31, 2011By obscuring their comedic voice under a fog of poorly (and frequently) implemented combat and a still-questionable inventory, it's difficult to enjoy DeathSpank's new adventure. That genuinely funny experience that DeathSpank once represented is still around; it just takes a little too much hacking, slashing and digging to get to it.

Sep 28, 2011The Baconing isn't completely devoid of enjoyment; occasionally you may stumble upon a fun weapon or two, such as poison arrows or a flamethrower, and the experience system allows you to choose what kind of bonuses to receive with each Level Up (such as faster speed, more health, etc). But without the laughs to back up the mediocre gameplay, not to mention the ludicrous difficulty, it might be time to bring out the oversized shepherd's hook and pull Deathspank off the stage.
