For 800 points, Tetris Splash is well recommended to those who enjoy the game of Tetris. Just don't expect all the trimmings.
-
Official Xbox MagazineDropping collectible fish in a handful of environments feels hopelessly extraneous; luckily, you can disregard the aquatic nonsense and enjoy timeless gameplay in a reasonably attractive wrapper. [Dec 2007, p.65]
-
Tetris is Tetris. Nothing new, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. If updated graphics and a unique aquarium screensaver are enough to make you spend ten bucks, then by all means, go for it.
-
AceGamezOf course, being Tetris, the gameplay is as addictive and enjoyable as ever, and there's no danger that you won't enjoy it if you get it, but this version just isn't nearly as well presented or feature-rich as it should have been.
-
At the end of the day, Tetris Splash is just plain old Tetris with a new coat of paint. It’s a good break from the day’s usual grind, but nothing really spectacular.
-
Despite including an attractive screensaver, and maintaining the fun factor inherent in almost any iteration of Alexey Pajitnov's classic puzzler, Tetris Splash is dead in the water for those who already own any of the dozens of versions of Tetris available on almost every system.
-
While the formula may never grow old, purchasing its incarnations is becoming rather trivial.
-
Leave this one to that small population of the gaming public that likes to play their games while facing their fish tank.
-
Save for its fish tank presentation, this is a wholly unremarkable version of Tetris.
-
Tetris Splash doesn’t bring anything exciting or more enjoyable to the table of Tetris. Unless you’re feeling extremely nostalgic or wanting to add an additional 200 achievement points to your gamer score, I suggest you pass this one by.
-
Tetris is Tetris, which means Splash is still supremely playable. But 800 points feels like an awfully high price. Especially when you can get a used copy of Tetris Evolution on the 360 for just a few bucks more.
-
Tetris Splash is an obvious attempt at wrapping nickel and dime distribution with a safe and nostalgic piece of gaming history. Don't be fooled, this game is not worth 800 Microsoft Points.
-
If it had something, anything new I feel like I could recommend, I'd fully endorse it, but I can't do that here.
