Turtles in a half-baked game
Mutants in Manhattan in an open worldish beat em up staring the ninja turtles…
At first I was really impressed with this game..
You can climb up any and every wall.. You can use your shell to float across the Manhattan sky...
You can find charms to boost health and skills...
Spend points on new moves and freely level up these special moves as well as customize the 4 turtles specials in any way you please…
You can also freely switch through the 4 turtles at any time…
Unfortunately, after level 1 of 9, you’ve practically seen it all…
Every stage has its own boss…
To get to a boss you have to complete random tasks that pop up in these pretty dull open levels…
There is really nothing more to it than randomly take out these bad guys.. Protect this item... pick up that item and take it there... defuse the bombs... rinse and repeat for every level
There is no redeemable qualities in the gameplay…
Not even 4 player online co-op can save it, as it’s the same thing but with friends…
it’s flat out boring and monotonous…
Just wait for a call… go to the spot the activity is taking place... collect some green orbs for combat boosts, weapons, or health…
And do this until you’re told to go to the boss’s layer...
The boss fights are appreciated… it’s nice to see such a variety of characters... but only a couple feel different than the rest…
But all 9 really come down to just spamming attacks until their 5 life meters drain…
Which brings me to the trophies and achievements...
There are a handful that require certain shots during the brief second snap shots are taken after a boss is defeated…
these trophies are near impossible and I can’t see anyone getting any joy out of hunting for this games platinum…
The best part of this game is hands down the cut scenes..
At the very least they exist...
But the story and humor is poorly written…
Just your predictable beat all the bad guys then beat the baddest of the bad guys, the end.
I give Teenage mutant ninja turtles: Mutants in Manhattan
a 5/10… Expand
