I would recommend it to any parent looking to play games with their kids.
-
Surf’s Up could have been another crappy shovelware title based on yet another animated movie license. Instead it turned out to be one hell of a fun ride, albeit an extremely short one.
-
The humor, characters and, most obviously, the difficulty of Surf's Up are geared towards a younger audience, but the game is also fun enough for anyone to play, although the simplicity might keep it from having a very long shelf life in most collections.
-
Seen through adult eyes, it's a sweet but slender surfing game that's consistently amusing.
-
This is the first licensed game I’ve played that is actually shorter than its movie. I’m not exaggerating; in a little over an hour I had received trophies in all of the main surf events.
-
The gameplay is simple but enjoyable and kids in love with the movie are sure to have a good time with the game, but the fact remains that this is a bloated price tag on a barebones game.
-
Hanging 10 in this movie-licensed surfing game has its moments--just don't expect to enjoy it for very long.
-
If you’re a kid and a big fan of the Tony Hawk series of skateboarding titles or similar games, Surf’s Up may be a cool addition to your collection as it is a decent pick up and play title for the ankle-biters but it really doesn’t present much of a challenge to anyone who has experienced puberty.
-
The tricks lack complexity and the game can be beaten in a couple of sittings. However, young ones should enjoy the fun presentation and the enjoyable multiplayer mode.
-
The game appeals to kids, thanks to its colorful characters, but adults will find it too easy. The tricks lack complexity and the game can be beaten in a couple of sittings.

Official Xbox MagazineIt's a wise parent that rents, as those tiny gamers will make short work of this fun but brief experience. [Aug 2007, p.81]
-
If the game were quite a bit longer or featured more variety, we’d feel fine recommending it to all the kiddies out there, but as it is now we can’t help thinking that even a 6 year old would feel gypped.
-
Consider this reviewer's naïve attitude and eternally hopeful gullibility well and truly slaughtered and replaced by a seething and consuming hatred of anything that gets unceremoniously squeezed out of Hollywood's all-profit-no-quality bunghole.
-
Let there be no doubt, Surf's Up is strictly for kids in love with the movie. The redundancy of the gameplay will certainly help to break one's obsession with all things penguin in a weekend. Definitely a rental.
-
Official Xbox Magazine UKCertainly not a game for anyone expecting a challenge or long-term entertainment. [Oct 2007, p.86]

StephaneJ.Jul 23, 2007Awful, just awful. No freedom at all, which is a pity for a surf game. The rendition of water is plain terrible, and the controls are too simplistic.

GideonV.D.Jun 1, 2007Some of the best water graphics I've ever seen!
