Only the not-as-awesome-as-they-could-have-been graphics stump this patched-up Stuntman. [Sept 2007, p.88]
  2. Stuntman: Ignition is a leap forward for the series but the game is still a lesson in frustrating trail-and-error gameplay that might not sit well with many gamers.
  3. In the end, Stuntman Ignition may be frustrating, difficult, and require a large amount of patience, but it’s undeniably fun.

While there's no denying it looks great and there's huge fun to be had with it at least to start with, there will be those that fall in love with its ultra repetitive just-one-more-go high score setting nature while others will find the need for such continual repetition too off putting enough on its own.

If you don't like trying the same thing over and over again until you've absolutely nailed it, this isn't the game for you. But if that setup appeals to you then you'll find a fair bit to like here.

Stuntman: Ignition would benefit from a more style substance, and its methods start to run a bit thin, but that doesn't keep it from hitting an acceptable summer-blockbuster-style mark. [Sept 2007, p.77]

Strong in concept and weak in execution. It's a trip to be able to work your way up the ranks, but it's far too repetitious and difficult and it could have been a lot more enjoyable.

Addictive, quirky and occasionally funny. [Oct 2007, p.88]
  9. Stuntman Ignition, sticks to the same formula while improving the only bad thing about the original and should be at least tried by anyone that isn’t afraid of a little trial and error. It’s just a shame that it won’t appeal to everyone and is let down by its poor graphics and repetitive nature.
  10. There is no doubt that Stuntman: Ignition is superior to its predecessor in every way, but it still doesn't quite live up to its lofty potential.

A decent game that has the parts of a great game. Add alcohol or any other mind altering substance to the mix, and some friends, and all of sudden the game could be insanely fun. But a game should be fun enough to be enjoying alone and not just with company.

Ignition has such a simple premise that it’s easy to leave alone and come back to at a later date with barely any need to familiarise yourself with the controls or gameplay. [Oct 2007, p.120]

A huge step up from its predecessor.
  14. If you have tried the series and haven't enjoyed it in the past, my guess is this title is not going to change your mind.
  15. Hugely, hugely frustrating but there is a good game hiding deep beneath.
  16. If you must complete every game you play, then don’t bother. Still haven't found anyone on Xbox LIVE or on public message boards who has even claimed to have completed the game 100%.

Stuntman Ignition is a great concept ruined by trial and error gameplay.

I love the concept behind the game of you being a stunt driver for films. There are some truly amazing stunts. But for everyone of those, there are 2 or 3 frustrating ones. The vehicles handle decently, and the stunt constructor will keep you coming back for a while. The campaign is of decent length, coming in at around 8 hours.

The graphics are quite good, with great and varied environments for each film. The framerate does run into problems at points, especially when there are a lot of explosions on the screen.

The sound design is good, but the soundtrack is mediocre.

Overall,Stuntman Ignition is killed by it's completely unfair difficulty and framerate issues.
